In the first post. It's one of the bulletpoints.

- Wide color displays in the same sizes and resolutions as the current iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. The wide color technology adopted from the 9.7-inch iPad Pro will offer better color quality.

Argh I see, thanks. I had misinterpreted "better screens" as, perhaps, more shatter resistant glass screens, rather than, as it seems, better color management?

My 6+ hasn't slowed down at all since purchase in 2014. And I still get two days of charge on the battery.

Maybe you should get yours fixed?

Or better yet, get that Note 7 and find some happiness.
I'm on my 3rd 6+, they're all the same POS.

Normally I don't chime in on these types of threads but...what sort of things do you expect to be put into a new phone? Lets mention Samsung for example. For how long have galaxy phones all looked about the same? Yet Apple makes a similar design and all of your heads explode. It's going to be a great upgrade and a gorgeous phone like always, and you'll probably buy it too. It's no different than any other year.

Apple puts a lot of time and thought into making things work well, not just throwing stuff together quickly because people might want some new feature. I for one appreciate that because then my phone works without lag and a bunch of garbage eating my battery. If they gave you every single thing you wanted you'd have android.

Yeah... Tell people moving to competitors is great advice.

No matter how wonderful this iPhone is. It is not worth to upgrade. There is nothing new and exciting feature. You don't even know how well does this dual camera setup works.

And no 3.5mm jack is big no to me. I will use my iPhone SE as long as possible.

Nice for you. But definitely placebo effect. 6 != 6+. The 6+ with 1GB RAM should never have been released.

Well, if "6 != 6+" --> how can you comment on whether placebo effect or not? :)

Sorry to hear your 6+ is not running well for you.

Consensus seems to be: they will never have to pay a penny of that. they will appeal and it will be in the courts for the next 5 years. by which time there may be
a-no apple
b-no european union
c-12% tax on 3,5mm headphone jacks
:)

OK the 12% 3.5mm headphone tax joke does make me laugh, good one :), but if they keep the 3.5mm jack, I am happy to pay the tax (only for my phone of course)

I believe that if the 3.5mm port is gone then Apple will either include BT with AptX
Highly unlikely. Apple went with AAC over Bluetooth, which has comparable quality already (but less support by 3rd party headphones even though it's allowed by the Bluetooth standards as an optional feature).
or add a low power standard to AirPlay for wireless headphone use.
Highly unlikely (not to mention undesirable to have yet another proprietary system that doesn't work anywhere else).

Because Apple cripples old models with lackluster iOS updates. My 6+ runs WAY slower now than it did when I bought it.

F**k Apple. I'd rather take my chances with Note 7.
Please do... My daughter works at an AT&T retail store. By far the most returned item is galaxy phones - she says about 4:1 ratio. I think the S7 looks incredible, but it sounds like it is slower than the iphone 6 and some of the s7's now can explode. Maybe you won't like the bloatware or slower speeds or difficulty with upgrades or whatever else has been said about other phones. Point is, you can always find something you don't like about a phone and I believe you will find equal reasons to dislike the Note 7.

Well you are in luck because you are going to get even MORE holes with this upgrade since Apple took the single 3.5mm hole and replaced it with 6 additional speaker holes. Welcome to the "more holes" upgrade.

Oh, com on. 3.5mm is giant compare to these particle sized holes of the speaker. And if it would be technologically possible without compromising the quality of speakers, I would like to see them removed also.

Because i used "1st world" as a hyperbole to say that it's not a big deal and you took it literally making a literal distinction between the 1st world and the rest of the world showing your entitlement to something that doesn't exist.

I'm hoping the "one more thing" is wireless charging capability. It is hard to imagine that Apple would destroy the ability to charge and listen to music or watch a video over headphones at the same time.

I've said for a while that the iPhone 7 may inspire me to move over to a Nexus device. I stand by that sentiment. But I would be kidding myself if I said I'm happy about the fact that I even have that inclination to begin with.

With lesser upgrades like this, I usually say I will wait, but come release announcement, I have to have it! Always enjoy getting new toys. I would especially like the black or midnight blue if that becomes an option.

If you don't like what Apple is doing with the 7, then you can feel better about saving your money and waiting another year. There are some significant upgrades in the same body and that does seem like an SE, but Apple usually knows what it is doing and has plans mapped out for years to come. They are most likely taking a break this year because of the 10 year anniversary next year and also because of lackluster sales.

I and millions of others will still continue to buy Apple products.

Just my thoughts...

Let the ranting and raving and praising and whatever continue!

The adapter will be free in the box to keep folks happy and attract android adopters. That I promise you.

U really think Android adopters will want using 3.5mm adaptor? No way in the hell. When I can use my Android phone without adaptor, I won't move to a phone requires an adaptor.

If there's a matte black and a piano black option, I would opt for the matte every single time. Could you imagine how infuriating all the fingerprints and surface scratches would be on a glossy-finished aluminum-backed phone?

I have tried Android OS, although is has been a while. I couldn't get used to the OS. Maybe it has changed.

Have you used their latest update? What is it like?

I will take the good with the bad and stick with iOS. Can't and won't switch after 9 years.

What utter nonsense. You've used a phrase that is so overused it has become meaningless. The idea that someone's technological problems and their concern for people less fortunate than themselves are somehow mutually exclusive is infantile and idiotic.

The people upgrading are likely coming from an iPhone 6. Barring the same form factor, you are still getting a ton of new features. Faster processor, more ram, force touch, better Touch ID, better camera, everything.

It's a solid upgrade for the people Apple is targeting however you spin it.

Great! So what do you expect? We keep the lovely 3.5mm for another million years because you know.... all these you have mentioned above have spend a lot of money? Based on that logic, the time will never ever be right because there will always be so many who spend money on things that use the current (sometime outdated) technology! There always have to be someone to break the ice and form the bridge! And companies like Apple are the ones who can do that.
I for one am so glad Apple is doing this. You can love wires and holes on devices as much as you want, I prefer my mobile device with as less as possible holes and wires.

There's a slight point to both sides...
1st yours: of course progress is marching fwd! Less holes in our devices is awesome (as long as SOME backwards compatibility is maintained). This is all fantastic.
2nd theirs: yes, the 3.5mm jack will be around for MANY years. So what?? We don't need it in our ultraportable phones.

Here's the thing that the "3.5mm is going away" crowd are wrong about- it could only truly be "replaced" w/ a technology that could last another 70 years, like the last one.
A nice set of headphones or other audio equipment can last DECADES. Apple's 30 pin had a nice long run of about eleven years; both lightning & USB-C will almost certainly be shorter or equivalent to that. Audio equipment can NOT be replaced in entirety every several years for a nonsense reason like "we're changing connections again".
Thus: best of both worlds..... 3.5mm will definitely stay in use for many years in high end audio, while consumable audio (cheap headphones, etc) will continue to trend more towards wireless or whatever "flavor of the week" connection.
That's it. That's the reality.
I don't get the arguing when clearly, both sides are partially correct.

Am I the only one who wants to see them just make the back out of a really grippy rubber so I don't need a case? As they make the phones thinner, the case adds more and more bulk as a percentage of the phone.

I don't understand the obsession with the look of the back when 75% of people are going to put a case on it anyway, especially the Plus size, which is really hard to handle bare.

Agree! I bought a thin case that has the similar texture to the OnePlus Sandstone back and love it.

I doubt Apple would do that since they like clean and shiny.

For me, the better camera iterations have always justified an upgrade every year. Having now two cameras, can't wait to see what Apple's software implementation will be. Just hate the fact that this will only be available on the plus. Goodbye one-handed use, ugh.

I just can't deal the with size of the plus. If they'd put the dual camera in the 4.7in model I would order. Instead I'll be waiting until next year. I'm hoping the dual camera makes it to the 4.7in (or whatever the next "medium" size is) model next year.

Although underwater photos might be possible with this iPhone.

Got my 6s plus on the upgrade every year so why not upgrade every year. Piano black, 128, plus. This might be the first time rocking a phone without a case. Got to show off that piano black!

There are a number of unobservable elements that Apple might be able to upgrade in this device: better, stronger build quality, more scratch-and-shatter resistant glass, etc. If Apple manages to make the 7 more rugged while not compromising its sense of design, I would say that's a huge win.
