Your standpoint is absolutely understandable, but don't forget that for some of us: the phone is our main tool of business , a complete office in my pocket.
Being on the road for 200 days of the year: 1000$ for this kind of device is fine.
Bingo. For most of the people I know their smartphone or tablet is the computing device they spend most of their personal time on. The age of desktop computers being king is long gone. It's amazing what these little devices can do; don't forget that.

Sounds not enough to upgrade from iPhone 6s plus

This complaint is brought out every year. The 6S wasn't enough of an upgrade over the 6. It doesn't have to be. By the time your 6S 2-year contract is up, there will be an even better phone.

I went from a 5C to a 6S Plus. I think I'll probably upgrade my phone every 3 years, maybe every 2. Certainly not every year! :)

A great update for Apple and I am so so so so excited to see the black iPhone! Space Gray looks good on the iPhone 5S where the black complemented it really well, but on the iPhone 6/6s there's just too much Gray I think!

Because some of us use our earphones on more than one device. For example, I use them regularly with my computer for audio/video conferencing and music, my iPhone, my company phone (which is an Android), and with the inflight-entertainment on airplanes, which means I'd have to constantly take the adapter on and off and hope not to forget or lose it somewhere. It's just a pain and for what? If we can believe this analyst, it's to "upgrade" the internal speaker which of course will still sound like crap like all phone speakers.

1st world problems. If only rest of the world had your problems.

Sure dialling numbers to make phone calls, create events in a calendar and stay in touch with your social life does indeed require a top notch high end phone.

Hmmm...
obviously different people have different definitions of "running a business" ;-)
Depends on the business I suppose.

Agreed - it's a personal preference or disposable income or even ego if you have to have the latest. None of these are right or wrong. In my case, we have 5 iPhones on our plan and dad (me) always gets the latest since I pay for it. :) My daughter has a 5S with a broken screen and out of contract. She will get my 6sPlus and I will get the 7s Plus in piano black and 32/64 or 128gig.

Oh, and the waterproof rating is huge... both of my daughters has dropped their iPhone in the toilet... apparently it is common for females to have the phone in their back pocket and oops... in the toilet. :)

Great! So what do you expect? We keep the lovely 3.5mm for another million years because you know.... all these you have mentioned above have spend a lot of money? Based on that logic, the time will never ever be right because there will always be so many who spend money on things that use the current (sometime outdated) technology! There always have to be someone to break the ice and form the bridge! And companies like Apple are the ones who can do that.
I for one am so glad Apple is doing this. You can love wires and holes on devices as much as you want, I prefer my mobile device with as less as possible holes and wires.

Well you are in luck because you are going to get even MORE holes with this upgrade since Apple took the single 3.5mm hole and replaced it with 6 additional speaker holes. Welcome to the "more holes" upgrade.

Where is that mentioned?
In the first post. It's one of the bulletpoints.

- Wide color displays in the same sizes and resolutions as the current iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. The wide color technology adopted from the 9.7-inch iPad Pro will offer better color quality.

Good point. I think the commercials were for the s6

My guess is that the more waterproof is a key selling point for many.

S5 has IP67, S6 was not specificed (they did not advertise the rating, it is unknown) but they made a "S6 active" edition that has IP68.

If they kept the headphone jack and shrunk the bezels a bit so that they could fit a slightly larger display on the standard 7 and make the plus version a little smaller, I would be ready to upgrade in a heartbeat.

But as it is, I'm still on the fence.

I'll definitely get the 6SE Plus but iphones are free every year so not a big deal. Waterproof, camera, stereo speakers, along with more ram, faster proc, wider colors, etc. The only drawback is loss of headphone jack. Hopefully Apple can sell that better on the 7th.

The non Plus users probably need to think about it though.

only the 16gb are free though right?

I'm suggesting to make it thicker to achieve greater battery size, removal of camera bump, inclusion of headphone jack.

I don't mind progress and moving to Lightning (USB-C would be better), but still perplexed at Apple priority of thinness over function.

Meh, I think it's moot. They would need to go with a different chassis all together when they have a radically different design coming in 2017. Ive has hinted he wants an edge to edge screen, so that all falls in line with that type of roadmap.

Because Apple cripples old models with lackluster iOS updates. My 6+ runs WAY slower now than it did when I bought it.

**** Apple. I'd rather take my chances with Note 7.

My 6+ hasn't slowed down at all since purchase in 2014. And I still get two days of charge on the battery.

Maybe you should get yours fixed?

Or better yet, get that Note 7 and find some happiness.

I wish we could ban this phrase. We are privileged enough to be commenting on technology in a forum using expensive technology so it goes without saying that the problems we're discussing are going to be those of the 1st world.
Shame on you.

My 6 runs just as fast as the day i bought it, (always running most recent OS)
I cleaned and reinstalled after one year, and i clean the RAM once a week; can't guarantee that this actually helps maintain speed, (maybe a placebo effect), but the phone is in fine speed, and it gets used a lot.
Nice for you. But definitely placebo effect. 6 != 6+. The 6+ with 1GB RAM should never have been released.

Am I the only one who wants to see them just make the back out of a really grippy rubber so I don't need a case? As they make the phones thinner, the case adds more and more bulk as a percentage of the phone.

I don't understand the obsession with the look of the back when 75% of people are going to put a case on it anyway, especially the Plus size, which is really hard to handle bare.
