Hmm, hope this isn't true, my 6 Plus is getting achingly slow, was hoping to hold out for the next redesign. I'd honestly consider a Pixel XL if I didn't like the Apple Watch so much.

Been saying all along that there would be no iPhone 8 this year. People don't realize just how much profit Apple makes by using the same physical body for 2 years.

Iphone 7s coming Sept 2017

Functionality, price, reliability, are important to me. I cannot ever remember commenting on anyone's phone because of how it looks. With the way phones are going, my direct interaction with the phone decreasing each year. Apple Watch, Siri, messages, and handoff examples. Phone becoming a hub for no better term. Manages the network and passes the tasks off to other devices. In the near future the phone could easily have no screen at all.

...um because unlike all other smartphones, they need to secure parts in the millions. Whereas all othe brands are lucky to sell a fraction of the high end devices.
Remember, Android sells are large in aggregate, meaning all the cheap phones, from all the different brands including the budget ones sold in India and China who rely on inexpensive easily obtainable off the shelf parts.
...not the cutting edge newest technologies.

And the AirPods? The Watch? Not going to be selling those in iPhone numbers are they? There were supply issues with the iPad Mini initially as well.

Everybody understand the scale factor but two months on and you can't walk into an Apple Store in the UK and buy an iPhone 7 Plus.

People have been very whiny on this forum lately. Many of these posters didn't read that the OLED model will still be included, nor did most of them weight the fact that this rumor might not be accurate.

Rather, just emotional rage and extreme comments like askingfor the removal of the CEO or the death of the company - over a rumor.

People don't think here, they just react.

That's why people come here - to read rumours and then discuss/moan/argue/react/speculate about them.

What you're suggesting is we should just wait until Apple announce the new iPhone. Where's the fun in that?

If the next iPhone doesn't represent a major redesign, my next phone will be from the Android camp where all the innovation appears to be happening. I need a new desktop Mac, but I won't be buying an aged iMac that hasn't been updated in almost a year. Apple is making it easy for me to move to Windows. I won't like it, but I will have no choice. Apple is killing off every one of its product lines and is not listening to its customers.

Siri is a complete joke. Her voice is still retarded after so many years - does Apple think that's a good thing? She can't understand anything I say. She's a totally useless assistant compared to Alexa and Hey Google. And I like someone to sound like a real person when they are talking to me. Not like a robot from 1984.

If Cook just rehashes the old design next year, I hope a bunch of people stand up and boo him off the stage. He's a complete loser and needs to leave. He is driving that company into the ground. All he keeps saying is we have so many great products in the pipeline. Bull Sh*t.

Either way, I'm buying the premium model which sounds really exciting.. But I shouldn't have to. The same features should be on only 2 models and I can pick what size without having to pay a hundred more for a better camera and then another hundred for OLED and a new design.

Nothing wrong with that, it's when critical thinking goes out the window...

Again these are not junk made up of off the shelf parts. Remember Apple is a hardware and software company. If the custom coprocessors were off the shelf and all of the rest, then yeah, a little whinnying would be acceptable, but Apple the products you mentioned are not just any product. The Watch itself however limited was aiming for the fence and I doubt Apple will recoup its R&D it invested in it for quite some time. They develop some of these products thinking long term. That's what differentiates the Apple Watch from Pebble and all the other Android junk. While I may not own an Apple Watch I do keep my eye on it and plan to get one when it's a little more mature. These are new cutting edge technologies I cut anyone slack that puts their neck on the line like that.
Takes balls for Apple to tackle the stuff it does and the way it does.

Haha, here we go: initially next year an iPhone 8 anniversary model with all the goodies. One month later, it wil be 7s with new colours and new wallpapers....... Within 2 month: next year's iPhone will have the same form factor......

Don't marginalize like that. I'm sure it will also add cutting edge new emojis . and of course continue to have the fastest processors paving the way for more advanced apps.

As long as it doesn't ever look as bad as the 6 series, the outside case can stay the same as the 7. I'm perfectly cool with that.

Would you buy a brand new car that looked the same as a 4 year old car while other companies have brand new/modern designs?
Phones are an extremely personal thing and new designs are what will attract buyers to specific phones.
I understand designs attract buyers. But if the car already has a sleek design that I like, I don't care for the external look beyond that. I don't buy a car for its shape. I buy for performance and feel. Most people do.
[doublepost=1481150474][/doublepost]
That wasn't what was posted. Why are you trying to twist things?
Why do you care so much about the lack of external design change when the internals are what make the phone perform? The only thing external designs are for are showing off the phone you have.

What a bizarre reply... The thought of being differentiated from others had never crossed my mind. But it is interesting that such thoughts clearly cross yours so readily. No, I was thinking of useful features that I would appreciate, such as wireless charging and a larger screen size on a device the same size. Childishly, perhaps, I had half hoped for a special "x factor" mystery that Apple might surprise us with on its tenth iPhone anniversary (and given the article is just a rumour, that could still happen). Anyway, differentiation from other people is not something I care much about, or think much about.
There isn't much benefit from a redesign besides consumer differentiation. The only practical benefit is OLED for battery performance. Glass casing is worse than the current aluminum, from a performance standpoint as well as damage-wise, but so long as it's "different" people want it...

Actually no, its not.

There is not one shred of credible evidence that Apple has ever intended to:

- Not produce a 7s next year.
- Deviate from their normal cycle
- Make a premium phone.

Except there are multiple rumours that they do, from fairly reliable sources. It's fine if you don't want to take those into account but when Macrumors has a whole page devoted to the rumours so far (far more than usual) you can't just dismiss them entirely.

I have no problem with the same design for 4 years as long as they update the internals like the Mac Pro .... or not?

Or with Apple getting on board the OLED train, supplies of OLED screens will be seriously tight in 2017. Other Samsung, the rest of the panel manufacturers won't be able to meet Apple's supply needs until 2018

http://www.patentlyapple.com/patent...ne-will-have-a-curved-display-as-rumored.html

"People familiar with the matter said Apple will likely rely on Samsung for most of its initial OLED needs but it wants LG Display, Japan Display and Sharp to ramp up production to have supplies ready for 2018."

Apple could purchase the displays for 2017. They are consumed with Japan Display (SHARP) being a main supplier of OLED. Most likely Micro OLED. That's not coming until late 2018 at best.

Personally I could care less about OLED. I'm extremely satisfied with the display in my 7+. Same old 7s next year with an A11 (which is still an excellent phone.) Offering a single special model and raping the lemmings with it's price is pornographic greed. :apple:

None of that explains why they can't get a product out of the door. You're you're talking like Apple products are made out of fairy dust and Angels hair, the AirPods are plastic!?

Why do you care so much about the lack of external design change when the internals are what make the phone perform? The only thing external designs are for are showing off the phone you have.
.

I dont particularly, I'm not sure that has given you that impression. That also isn't an answer to my question, you can't answer a question with a question, I'll ask you again, why are you deliberately trying to misrepresent what people have posted?

You're also talking drivel. The external form factor absolutely dictates the functionality of the device.

Okay question, given that Cook is a logistics genius (your emphasis not mine) why is everything Apple release these days severely supply constrained?

You know that Cook is no longer COO, right? He is no longer in charge of operations.

These phones (6 onwards) are just too big for their screen sizes. Apple needs to stop beating the bush and release an iPhone with small bezels.

Siri is a complete joke. Her voice is still retarded after so many years - does Apple think that's a good thing? She can't understand anything I say. So true. Every few months I'll try to use Siri and it never works. The only thing it's good for is to ask "How much wood can a wood chuck chuck?" That gets old after a few dozen tries.

For the voice, I want that of the computer from the original Star Trek series, complete with the "working..." comments whenever Siri is slow (which is pretty much all the time for me out here in rural MI).
[doublepost=1481152256][/doublepost]
Right but he has influence as to how the company is run.

Sure, but does he strike you as the sort of CEO who would make the COO's life miserable?

Also, I suspect the supply shortages are a feature, not a bug. They create a false sense of rarity, like "omg better buy a 7+ today or they'll sell out!"
