Have fun with those rush to market phones, I'll stick with the company that takes its time. I think I'll survive a few months before Apple releases their bezeless phone this fall.
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate that Apple takes their time with some things, but this was just to show contrast in how far away Apple is with their tech and design of their phones.

Apple's phones haven't exactly been perfect out of the gate either lately. With the iPhone 6 "touch disease" and weak body design and the iPhone 6s battery issue and even the new MBP graphics issues it almost seems if anyone is "rushing" something out to market, it might be Apple.

Apple has been rumored to have been working on this device well before any bezel-less phone existed on the market.

It would make sense that as Apple approaches the final production that others would beat it to market.

Apple has its issues. But I hear my android friend complaining about 'issues' with his LG phone all the time. It exists in all manufacturers, arguably much less with Apple - and far better customer experience when it does. It's nice to get a replacement phone the same day.

This seems to the most accurate to me. Many people think it's going to be the iPhone 8, but Apple always does an S model the year after a new model release. Tim and company do NOT push innovation these days. They'll simply stay on course. No fanfare for the 10th anniversary of the iPhone. Well, OK....maybe they'll remove some other important port or button.

iPhone 7S Emoji Edition.

On the one hand, this seems like it won't happen. Apple won't ever make a tacky color like that. Plus the rumors come from sources that don't have a track record.

On the other hand, it's hilarious that SO many people think external looks take top priority, until the internals take top priority (see MacbookPro)...

And people still here believing there is goign to be an iPhone 8 next year??? LOL Another boring years of the same iPhone 6 design with few specs bumps and higher prices base on features that they will only add to the largest one.... Apple is becoming very predictable now... I will pass tho..
Any suggestions for a new design? The 6 lineup is the best design they've ever had, per sales and most people who own them. People complained about antenna bars, so Apple redesigned it to move them, yet the entitled folk are upset their newest phone doesn't look different than all their friends' phones.

ya, my only point was that while we hear only whispers and rumors of such things, we see other companies already selling these said rumored things for a couple years already.

Honestly it isn't even a surprise at this stage. What has Cooks response been to every other market that has experienced slowing/falling sales? Increase the cost thus squeezing out extra margin or separate the features across the line up in an attempt to make the more expensive model sell more thus increasing the average selling price.

They've been doing this on the iPhone for years putting the higher end features (Optical Image Stabilization/ Dual Camera) on the bigger more expensive phone.

Fully expect this to come alongside newer redesigned models which will be priced higher than the current phone.

New color is just a marketing gimmick to make customers identify an old design as the newest version.

Please tell me they are joking? Please... if there's no major update after THREE years of the same design then I'm pretty sure this company wants to commit suicide.

No redesign. No buy.

I'm very confused. Why does each new version need a "new design"? Can't the product just stand on its own in terms of performance and "getting the job done"?

I want another 4" iPhone, please. I had the 6 & 6s then jumped to SE the day it came out. 4" is the perfect size.

Yep, I think we're done here. You say that there are "facts" that Apple is lagging behind in design and technology then you link to an article about annual profit decline... I did not see the words "design" or "technology" in the entire article. A drop in profit does not automatically equate to a lapse in design and technology

I believe this - and many other - poster's concerns are not related to actual facts about design and technology, to how well & reliably the device performs, etc.
They are rather more concerned with being admired for having the newest and shiniest, having a device which is recognisable as new and fashionable.
There is no rational thought about how good the actual phone is.

And then they are concerned about Apple's declining profits because they may find themselves no longer backing the winning horse. It's an emotional reaction to a possible future in which they are no longer seen as members of a successful family or clan. Which is important to some people it seems.

Exactly. After the price hike they've just applied, any more expensive and Apple's profits and position will look even less certain.
Seeing as their market share of profits is at an all time high for mobile phones... they're nowhere near "uncertain."

I found it surprising that Apple would pass up the opportunity to profit off of existing R&D by milking the iP7 design for another cycle. Would still like to see a special release for the 10th anniversary, but this is the new apple. Release products with the minimum amount of innovation and the maximum amount of profit.

And while I desperately need a new desktop, I'm getting the impression that I'd be a fool to wait for the early 2017 iMac when we all know it's going to be a crap value, jacked up pricing, nominal performance gains, the same chassis and less ports.
Apple is a mobile company and it would be your benefit to look elsewhere for your desktop.

Wow. All you care about is showing people you spent a grand to get the new phone?
Would you buy a brand new car that looked the same as a 4 year old car while other companies have brand new/modern designs?
Phones are an extremely personal thing and new designs are what will attract buyers to specific phones.

If true, I am done with Apple for good. This really is the final straw. (If true...)
You'd be done with Apple because your newest phone won't differentiate you from the others who can't afford or won't buy the newer phone...? Ok.

I think all we're seeing next year is the 7s. The 7 is a beautiful refinement to the ugly and prom le prone 6 series with the bending, stern and battery problems.
I love my 7 plus and am so happy I skipped the 6 series.

I think Apple needs to figure out the how to get the vendor chain be able to produce the needed oled screens and finalize the technologies needed for the 8.
As the 7 has shown, it's a far better phone than the 8 in every way, and a successor to it is not a bad thing. And not rushing something to market is always the smartest thing you can do.
Ask Samsung.

lol, you're funny. I do a look up of proof about Apple sales declining and it's ignorantly refused. You want to keep living in denial that Apple is ignoring what need to be done, so be it. I've provided proof, and you've provided nothing that supports your side of the debate. Sales declines can be an indication of multiple things, but it's typically customers no longer interested in buying products for whatever reason (falling behind in design and tech I'm sure is one).

I totally understand that Apple has never been the leading in designs, trust me, I've had Apple devices longer than I'm sure you even knew they existed. Times change and technology continues to speed up, meanwhile Apple still pretends that it's 2014 which is forever in the world we live in now.

I hope Apple continues to try with their lineups but at this point it looks like they only want to milk as much money as possible.

I'd rather be funny than dumb.

Your claim was that there are facts that support Apple falling behind in technology and design.

You provided a link to declining sales.

You obviously do not have a business background to know that a decline in sales DOES NOT automatically equate to lack of technology and design. Wouldn't it be nice though.... Sales are down, let's invest more in technology and design, boom, problem solved. ....Yes, a lack of technology and design can lead to a decline in sales but the two happenings are not correlated the way that you are trying to correlate them.

You can NOT prove that Apple is lacking in design and technology. You can't do it. You can speculate.... but you, personally can't do it.

I'm not in denial of anything. You speak about Apple "ignoring what need to be done".... So which fortune 500 company do you run? What qualifies you to determine what Apple needs to do? Are you some secret board member? Do you run a company as successful as Apple?

You've provided no proof at all to anything! You linked an article that shows sales decline and proclaimed that this is a direct result (and therefore proof) that Apple is far behind in technology and design.

On the other hand, my "proof" is history. When was it that the last "S" model iPhone deviated drastically from the immediate predecessor? THERE! THERE'S MY PROOF!

"I totally understand that Apple has never been the leading in designs, trust me, I've had Apple devices longer than I'm sure you even knew they existed. Times change and technology continues to speed up, meanwhile Apple still pretends that it's 2014 which is forever in the world we live in now."

Really? Do you know me? Do you know how old I am or how many Apple devices I've owned? Further proving your ignorance and tactics. If you "totally understand" (like, totally, bro) and have obviously owned Apple products since Woz gave you something from his garage, then how are you so surprised that they could possibly have an "S" model that follows the same form factor as the previous model?

haha
