That's one review of a hand picked sample. A lot of MR readers would say otherwise. I.e. worse than the 6 series on their phone.

Basically this review means jack. Too many new ip7 owners are complaining of yellow dim screens. This review sounds more like a paid ad from Apple.
Of course- thorough testing equals a paid ad if the testing comes out in Apple's favor. Apple can never be seen positively.

Yet somehow Displaymate, which purchases their own units through retail channels, always gets a great example? Seriously, if the 'yellow' issues really stood up, somebody would have the test data to back up these accusations.

Hope you can see it with your display. It's called OLED burn in.

But how realistic is it for people to leave the same thing on their display for long periods of time? I can only think of display phones that don't have a looping demo video as being the only example.

If the rumours so far are wrong and Apple goes a fourth year with the same design + small upgrades I will be extremely disappointed. It's past time they got rid of the bezels and made other advancements.

Better battery, better display, better CPU, better GPU, water-resistant. But looks a bit similar and it can't be a new generation. I don't get it.

Back with the iPhone 4, Apple released one of the most gorgeous smartphones ever made. People claimed it was form over function, and gimmicky, as it easily cracked when dropped. They pointed to the Android benchmarks which outperformed the 4 by some margin, as proof that people who care about 'real work' would go for the most powerful option.

Now, Apple have the most powerful smartphone on the planet -- and this was before the 7 was released. The single core score of the 7 is more than double that of the leading Android phone. Overall it's much better. And yet people overlook this and talk about the bezels instead?

I get it: the form could use a slight overhaul. But in the larger view, I think Apple are better off in the long run with what they've done and stuck with. Throwing in an edge-to-edge display would be a much easier task, comparatively. It'll happen; just don't expect it next year.

Yeah, I think people are so used to their "blueish calibrated display" that they think the "yellower/warmer" tone display on the 7 must be a faulty unit, when in fact it is now the correct white point and a real accurate display.

As an old time Android user (since the G1 days), and previous owner of many Samsung flagships (last one being the S6), I sincerely hope Apple never switches to the piece of horsesh1t known as AMOLED. Constant and unresolved burn-in, together with piss-yellow whites, just don't fit my bill.

Still not as good as the AMOLED's color saturation.

As a photographer who cares a lot about display excellence and fidelity for editing photos, I'll take this: "DisplayMate said the iPhone 7 has "the most color accurate display" that it has ever measured, adding that the smartphone's display is "very likely considerably better than any mobile display, monitor, TV, or UHD TV" that consumers have." over unrealistic color saturation. Any day.

Many months ago I was predicting/hoping the iPhone 7 display would use the same tech in the 9.7" iPad Pro display, which DisplayMate rated highest.

Now that I know Apple went with such a superb display, and with the dual camera looking to be really nice, I'll climb off the fence and purchase a 7+. Those were the two features I was looking for.

The A10 processor enhanced performance and extra battery life are icing on the cake.

My 7+ display is noticeable better than my 6s+ one in terms of colour accuracy and brightness. It also feels more responsive - I think the touch response times have improved too. Android has terrible touch response times

Here's the data. http://www.displaymate.com/iPhone7_ShootOut_1.htm#Colors_Intensities

Their iPhone 6 example had a white point of 7,241K. The iPhone 7 example is at 6,806K.

D65 with 6,500 K is the standard color of White

for most Consumer Content and needed for

accurate color reproduction of all images.

White Point Accuracy is more critical because

it affects the Accuracy of all Low Saturation Colors.

So no wonder people are reporting 'yellow' screens. It will continue as Apple further improves things and comes closer to the 6.500K ideal.

Any idea which Samsung model that is? I've owned an S2 and S4 prior to switching to the iPhone and have never noticed that before.

Is it a joke? Everybody reports dark displays with ugly yellow tint,
but those guys have a unique great display...
Two different screens?

You do realize just how small of a sample from the overall population this forum is, correct? And not even all of that sample (this forum) is complaining of those issues. And even moreso, the kinds of people who lurk and post on technology forums are typically more picky than the average consumer. It's a fraction of a fraction of a fraction.

Besides, it's the internet. People are more compelled to post about complaints/problems than about how pleased they are. What you see is biased.

edit: Not saying that the problems others are claiming aren't real, just pointing out that it's very possible that only a very small number of users are experiencing problems or are unhappy with the screens on the 7.
