the iPhone 7 is a nice phone, but its not that much different the 6s.

The iPhone 7 is still quite an upgrade from the 6-series in my opinion.

Better cameras, faster processor, stereo speakers, water resistance, more RAM, haptic feedback, etc.

Yeah it "looks the same" as the 6-series... but that shouldn't matter in the grand scheme of things.

I agree. The iPhone 7 doesn't have any "wow" factor to it.
There seem to be a lot of people who don't want "best" so much as "new shiny" - I'm not saying the iPhone 7 is anywhere near the ultimate ideal (far from it), but if Apple did come up with the ultimate-perfect-forever smartphone, I expect there would be people complaining before long that it wasn't "new". When I read things like this ^^^, what I hear in my head is, "Klytus I'm bored ... what plaything do you have for me today?"

I've actually seen people post non-sarcastically, about previous -s models of the iPhone, "but how will people know I have the new one?"

Steve Jobs would be completely embarrassed with a third generation iPhone 5 (I'm talking about iPhone SE). And a third generation iphone 6 (yeh, I'm talking about you iPhone 7). IPhone 7 Jet black color ain't a feature. And clearly it's not compelling. Reintroduce an all new, brand new, bezel free 4 inch, 5 inch and 6 inch. And drop the pricing, make it attractive to switch or stay and upgrade/buy again.

Shareholders need to be concerned right now. The share price has done nothing in a year. Apple's iphone 7 product mix is the source of issue. It's confused, it's complicated, the executives are arrogant and completely without reason.

If you want people coming to iphone, then give android users iMessages. It's the equivalent of giving windows users itunes in the early 2000s. That's the gateway.

They removed the headphone jack to make space in a tiny device - the MacBook Pro is considerabley larger than the iPhone.

Hahahahaha I just love these excuses... yeah we will all forget that firstly the phones size was decided on and designed by Apple themselves! They have no excuse to not make the phone thicker.
And secondly the iPhone Plus is BIGGER then the majority of Android handsets out there which have bigger screens and battery's and still have headphone jacks!

Talk about getting totally sucked in by the Apple marketing team..

I see I have angered some because I defend my point of view, and admit when I am wrong.
I am one of the folks you angered (and just commented on the OP). Honestly, I used to be that idiot that thought Apple farted rainbows.... but I am reformed Apphole. Just research and fact check everything Apple says.... you can be reformed too! The comment about making space was just beyond tolerable, which is probably why you are getting flamed for it because if you actually read what they did with the space, it's an instant face palm. #courage

I simply have a thing about forum posts where people preach without the gospel to back them. That space was an unholy blight upon iPhone users and serves no purpose. It also doesn't improve water proofing as Apple claimed. It sold earbuds and the new line of Beats headphones. That was the real courage.... hoping it translated into sales.... like they did the with macpro and dongles.

Now they've slashed the MacOS team.... well, there is no more MacOS team. They are devoted to IOS and work on MacOS part time.

Cook needs to go. He isn't jobs, but at first I thought he made good moves with how he reorganized. Johnny Ives is starting to look like Mr. Brady in the Brady bunch spoof movies where the only design he has for everything is the Brady house.

The reason I upgraded from a 6 to the 7 was solely for the camera and I couldn't be happier with my decision --- the improved aperture and the addition of OIS has been fantastic.

All that money for a better camera? Why not just buy a decent compact camera that would give you significantly better results than the iPhone 7.

As a designer, I use many Apple products and have had every iPhone since the first one launched in 2007. This yr. was the first year that I was going to switch over to the Note 7 even after all of the reports of it exploding. I was looking to get one of the replacement models because I felt the iPhone 7 was an insult to loyal Apple fans. Waiting to see what the S8 is going to be like. Apple is really starting to fall off.

i don't buy phones for the camera. All of the cameras in recent iPhones have been good enough. If I want a good camera I'll use a real camera, you know one with an optical zoom lens, changeable lenses, changeable settings, etc., not the throw away un-controllable camera in an iPhone.

I have a Nikon D810 - I sympathize with this sentiment. That said, as a family man with 4 active children - I have discovered the more that I use the DSLR for everyday moments, the less engaged I am in the moment, and the more I am a spectator. At the same time I care about image quality. I am hardly unique in this regard.

Yawn. Another chance for people to whine about the headphone jack. It's gone. Get over it. Samsung is following Apple and going to do the same thing and I guarantee they don't get half the negative press for it.

If Cook stays Apple will slowly fade away and die.
I like posts like this because people said the same thing about Steve.

This is a flawed theory, in many ways. For one thing, if it only looks at Note 7 owners, it ignores the majority of Samsung's user-base that was due for an upgrade during this whole fiasco. People who rushed out to buy a Note 7 at launch were likely Samsung die hards. They loved their Note 7 and most of them never caught fire, and they wanted the closest possible thing to replace it.

But on the other hand, you have owners of literally every other Samsung handset that were due for an upgrade and watched this fiasco play out on the news. I know several more "casual" Samsung owners who switched to the iPhone when they were next due for an upgrade, and that decision was influenced heavily by the Note 7 debacle.

Granted, that is anecdotal, and I'd really love to see a deeper study done on the subject. I find the whole concept of brand loyalty fascinating.

It's easy to let people know you have the iPhone 7, for instance.

You can be proactive and TELL them you got a new phone.

Or you show them the GeekBench scores and take a selfie with the better front-facing camera.

"Problem" solved! :D

Hahahahaha I just love these excuses...
I like when people come up with excuses why soldered RAM and soldered SSD is a good thing for the consumer. Recently, someone posted a comment saying that soldered RAM is good for the consumer because the planet matters (assuming the poster meant less waste, which is pretty silly).

Talk about getting totally sucked in by the Apple marketing team..
You are right on this point. Why get rid of the headphone jack?
To sell AirPods. I wonder why kind of margin is on the AirPods.

Apple is devoid of innovation in recent years, nothing new, nothing exciting. Like many others posting above, I have skipped the iP7 and kept my 6S - I only upgraded that from a 6 because it go t stolen...

I also got fed-up waiting for new iMacs or a MacPro with a decent graphics card. Ended up building a high-spec Hackintosh instead...

Moribund company.

Wow, talk about logic deficit of this article.
People that bought the Note already had a very heavy Android (and probably Samsung, bias because of prior ownership) and possibly even a bias against Apple...
If they had wanted to buy the Iphone in the first place they would have done so (waiting a little while) INSTEAD OF BUYING THE NOTE!
They had already selected the Iphone and possibly Apple in general, out.
Considering the Samsung gave incentive for them to not jump ship and they already decide the Iphone7 was not the way to go, it would be more surprising if these people went to Apple than anything else.
Maybe people who depended on the Note for mission critical stuff and got "burned", or got pissed by how Samsung handled the recall (especially the whole not being able to board planes) switched, but others (which are undoubtably the majority) would stay put.

It is in person's that MAY have bought Samsung or a Note and didn't that the greatest impact would be, not actual buyers.

I'm glad Apple is waiting and taking their time with the redesign. Remember - Apple is never first, but always the best.

People get upset over a headphone jack, but not over an exploding phone. And yet people question the values of Apple and not Samsung.

I would argue the dual camera / telescopic zoom is a major feature as the jump in camera quality between the 6s is quite large.
Apple is not always best. Statements like these are why people think apple users are blind sheep. An example of not always being best would be Siri.
It's not about values it's about business. These companies are in this to make money.
[doublepost=1483040217][/doublepost]The iPhone 7 may not have much of a wow factor, but for my needs it is currently the best phone on the market.

Why would I need a silly compact camera to carry around when I have a great camera on my phone - see that, all in one - have you actually seen any pictures from a 7 or a 7+ - and I don't mean the downgraded photos posted to forums?

iPhone7 - Lack of innovation, same two generation old design, headphone jack removed which millions of people use every day

I'm not entirely sure you even know what to believe anything you post on this site. In other threads, you mention how the iPhone 7 is the best iPhone to date, best design and how it's better over any other iPhone.

And yet, you completely contradict yourself by stating it lacks innovation and you complain about the 3.5 Jack Being deleted.

So what exactly are your intentions if you own the iPhone 7, if it lacks innovation and disparage against it in the same summary?

I think Apple will release two phones in 2017 ... 7S will be a minor update, with all interesting features reserved for 8, but it will cost more than 13" MBP :)

Got rid of my 6S and got a Pixel. Couldn't be happier. The headphone jack is irrelevant to me. I liked the size of the Pixel, the Google experience, and the great display. Not holding my breath for an iphone 8.

It's a huge and I think incorrect assumption to think those people would have jumped to iPhone (entirely changing ecosystems) regardless of what the iPhone 7 was. I'm entrenched in the Apple ecosystem so even if Samsung came out with a crazy, insanely advanced phone, I still probably wouldn't switch because just for one example, what am I going to play my 300+ iTunes movies on? Not to mention all the other iCloud stuff, FaceTime, etc.

Seems like "best" is an opinion, but I won't call people names if they don't agree.
