This picture doesn't seem to depict enough space for a headphone jack

You think they go all this effort and then leave room for the headphone jack they just kicked out? You clearly have no clue about product design. You design to optimise for a certain form factor and space constraint.

If it did include the headphone jack that would either mean:
a. they make the design slightly thicker and redesign components like haptic engine and the battery around that
b. make the haptic engine smaller
c. your pick

But the iPhone 7 has more color choices and to have a cool camara i have to pay more.... Shouldn't that be enough of a reason for people to pay $660+ for a phone?.. Crap it even has 2GB of Ram... I mean look at how cool my pinky gold iPhone look next to A Galaxy S7 Edge... HAhA!!

The last phone with a real difference was the 6. And that difference was simply size. The 6S and 7, while offering continued progress, represent effectively the same device for most people, and thus there is no reason to change to the 7.

Same with the new 15" Macbooks - there is no reason to change if someone already has a 15" MBP with 16 GB RAM, unless you desperately need the graphics update, and plenty of reasons not to get the newer machine.

That's because people need and use the headphone jack. Schiller said it took courage to remove the headphone jack, yet I can no longer listen to music with my headphones and have it charging. Also if it took courage, why did they include it in the new MacBook Pro?

Seeing how you are tethered to your desk, why just use your computer for listing to music and not waste your battery anyways....

Removing battery indicators and now " Apple decided to not release the first weekend sales numbers for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus back in September, because it felt the results were "no longer a representative metric" due to demand outweighing supply."

I guess under Tim, Apple no longer believes in "transparency."

That's because customers simply see the iPhone as an iPhone and nothing more. It's pretty much a commodity at this point.

I like a sleek device, but there is a point where functionality and physics interfere. I think the current line up is too thin. Combined with the materials, makes it small and slippery. I ended up putting the leather case on my 6S. For me, it makes it just right. As well, the camera bump is really ugly. Thing is, you are running into physics. The optics can't be made thinner yet. So why not make the back a flat piece, giving you a bit more room for components, and easier to hold?

I'm glad Apple is waiting and taking their time with the redesign. Remember - Apple is ever first, but always the best.

People get upset over a headphone jack, but not over an exploding phone. And yet people question the values of Apple and not Samsung.

I would argue the dual camera / telescopic zoom is a major feature as the jump in camera quality between the 6s is quite large.

This is an interesting comment. Your first comment says that Apple is never first, yet you then site an example of something they were first on, removing the headphone jack.

And you have a major confusion about who was complaining about the lack of a headphone jack. It wasn't Galaxy owners complaining about Apple removing the jack it was Apple users that wanted to upgrade but knew it would affect them. Just as it wouldn't be Apple users complaining about Galaxy phones catching fire.

Maybe he isn't a blind Apple loyalist who defends every move they make no matter what? Maybe he likes Apple products but *gasp* doesn't think Apple is perfect? Maybe he is objective? Just a thought.

There are a lot of people on this forum aren't objective. They are pessimistic. They hate Tim Cook.

Nothing compelling on either side of the fence really, so I can't blame people for not switching. If you are used to the ecosystem you are in, and like it, just wait a year or two.
I agree with this thought. I can't see anything compelling that would make my mobile device life, easier, more efficient, better etc from the competition. In fact I would lose out more than I would gain.

The definitive headphone jack post:
If you cannot get on board with the removal of the headphone jack I feel sorry for you. Why would you have 2 "holes" in your phone when you can have one and soon with AirPods and wireless charging there will be none and waterproofness will be so much easier to accomplish.
The audio jack is more than 100 years old - it is time to do something better and more efficient.
There is very limited space in phones because they must be compact enough to carry around, removal of the headphone jack frees up real-estate for new and better technology to come along and fill that void.
There are 2 big arguments that are valid about the removal, but there are VERY SIMPLE fixes for both.
"I can't use the headphones I have now that already use aux." - Yes you can there is an adaptor in the box and there are new headphones that connect directly to the lightning port, if this solution doesn't float your boat, don't buy the phone and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
"I can't charge my phone and listen to music at the same time." - Yes you can for $10 on Amazon you can get a splitter cable lightning to lightning/aux or buy AirPods or ANY other wireless headphone, if these solutions don't tickle your fancy, don't buy the phone and don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Samsung is rumoured to also be removing the headphone jack after mocking Apple publicly about it, once again Apple is ahead of the curve in things that matter the most and being innovative. In 2 years people will wonder how it took Apple so long to remove the headphone jack - just watch.

The iMac did away with serial ports because USB was clearly better and where the industry would go. I think Cook missed the lesson there: It's wasn't that Apple products are so cool that customers follow whatever they say, it was that Jobs paid attention to what was going to happen anyway and was on the leading edge of it (but not bleeding edge ... he did away with modems, but not too early). A headphone jack is not a serial bus; if anything it's more like a lightbulb screw: been around for over 100 years because it works. Apple makes its mark with WOW products no one has thought to bring to market yet. They suck when trying to build a better mousetrap ... their (well Job's) genius was redefine what a mousetrap WAS. Making average products with stripped away functionality at above average prices is what nearly tanked them in the early 90s. Hopefully they didn't blow all their moola on that spaceship and can ride this out until someone with some vision comes in. Still hate windows; still prefer Mac, but some days it's more work than others to like the one you love.

I can't help but think people wouldn't bitch and moan about the headphone jack nearly as much if AirPods came in the box with the iPhone 7.

But when a single camera Pixel outperforms a dual camera iPhone it is rather sad. I bought an S7 (my very first Android phone) this year. That is quite telling how Apple are lacking these days, as I am the biggest Apple fanboy who sworn never to buy an Android phone. Ever.

But when the Pixel's CPU is only slightly faster than the A8 in an iPhone 6, that's sad. "Lacking" is relative and Apple isn't pulling any punches when it comes to its SoC team.
