I don't, but I'll be getting up at the same time for the watch & TV...
People actually care about the iPhone 8?
That is why the folks are waiting for this

that's the thing. not a lot of people BADLY need face id + animoji, so the iPhone 8 works for them. And There are those who can't afford an iPhone 8 either, but some still find a way to upgrade. It's just a matter of how badly somebody wants something. Even if it's $1000 iPhone X, someone will manage to find a way to purchase it. But some don't consider (Or care) debt to income ratio.
This is great. The notch can actually take the full top part and not be a notch anymore.
So basically a thin bezel at top... too similar to Samsung?
Sure, it's got great specs and for people who actually like bezels, as some on this forum have said that they do, it's bezelicious. It's got some good AR capability according to the Keynote. I'm considering it myself just because of the battery life on the Plus will likely be the best of the bunch. Touch ID is still a selling point. It may also have the ability to record stereo audio (I saw a mic on it that's not on the 7 Plus) so it would be a solid upgrade for me, for that alone if it's really capable of doing that.People actually care about the iPhone 8?
No, I want the better camera on the phone, also my battery doesn't hold up.You = sheep! Don't do it.
I don't think you're comparing apples to apples here. I don't remember all the differences between the 5s and 5c, but two that come to mind are the lack of TouchID and the polycarbonate shell of the 5c. FaceID is not the leap in convenience that TouchID was. Many people didn't use a passcode pre-TID because of the inconvenience. The 5c was noticableably more cheaply built with plastic as well. The 8 and X are both made out of primarily the same materials. Additionally, the 5c was pitched as a low-end varient to the "standard model" whereas the X is pitched as an ultra high-end version of the "standard model." The pitch is from a completely different angle.
Edit:
Just looked and the 5c also used an A6 chip while the 5s used an A7. The 8 and X both use A11 chips. Also the price difference was only $100 back then. It's really unsurprising to see that the 5c was ignored so much back then.
I had big expectations for a decent small phone. Now I'll hang on to my iPhone 6
I think I'm going to get the 8+. Or maybe I'll get the X. I don't know. All I keep thinking back to is when Touch ID didn't work all the great and I was so annoyed when trying to get into my phone. It was seriously irritating and I feel like that might be the case with Face ID in the first iteration. I don't want to pay almost $1200 to be irritated.
Not too small, it's designed for a human to use!
I just don't see these selling super well. It's already more expensive than past years' full retail price for the entry model and if you're spending $700 why not just spend $1000? And if you don't plan on shelling out the money for the X then I see people going for the cheaper 7 or 6S. I don't know, I'm not Ming Chi Kuo, but that's just my opinion.
I don’t like it for video either. Thankfully, if you double-tap the screen, it shows the full video rather than crop it.Setting aside my reservations about the notch (watching videos alone with that nonsensical design choice looks to be a nightmare, is it really that hard to understand why a black bar is better) , I don't blindly trust Apple's facial recognition as a viable replacement for touch ID until it has been thoroughly proven to work consistently, no hiccups, and 64gb simply isn't enough for a 1k phone.
I think what he meant to ask was, was there ever an iPhone that sold less than its predecessor.Uh yes, which ever was the worst selling of all iPhones. Was this a serious question?
I'm still torn on 8 versus X. I'll probably just get the 8. It's not about the money, it's more about the timeline of things. I'm on a 12 month upgrade cycle with Verizon. Every 12 months, I can return my current iPhone and get a new one.
If I wait until the iPhone X arrives and it is back ordered through January, I now have to wait for January 2019 to get the next iPhone that presumably comes out in September. That sounds terrible.
On top of that, the iPhone X is just an iPhone 8 w/ Dual OIS and a larger OLED screen along with a stainless steel band. What are the actual other benefits? If it was faster, I'd consider it but if demand is low, I can finally get an iPhone on launch day without having to wait in line and get the one I want and then a year later, I'll be ready to jump to whatever the iPhone X is supposed to be w/o as much hype because it "looks like last year's phone"
Is my approach wrong?
As someone who's owned every iPhone. I see the X as a very limited, low-yield mold of where the puck is going and will fully be realized a year later when apps finally get their UI right for the screen design and Apple further perfects FaceID, the gestures we make to interact with it and hey, it'll be faster! The iPhone 6 Design still doesn't feel old to me and I keep my iPhone in a case anyway.
