We hear this every single year! I always say the same thing-Its not going to be priced that high.
No, it will be priced that high (possibly higher). You're forgetting that this a separate model and the most advanced flagship they've produced.
You act as if those prices are unbelievably high but do you realize this is off contract pricing?

But airpods sounds like crap even compared to other BT ear buds. I've had them for 2 weeks and really tried to like them but ended up returning them because the sound sucked so bad. Not to mention you look like a total tool with them on.

I dissagree big time here, they sound great. As for looks they are not the best looking but I'd rather have the complete wireless and functionality over the looks.

Yea, I think the point is, you're buying day one before knowing if it is the best...and recently Apple has been far from the best / their best.
[doublepost=1494652779][/doublepost]
Actually it didn't sell, Apple had to reduce the price and refund early adopters

So why hasn't Apple removed if from any other products that they have launched since?

Because it makes sense on other products like the Mac some people still use them for music production and when editing, no one does that on a phone.

except the handful of suckers who buy unlocked at full retail and think they are beating the system,.

They do not THINK they beat the system..... they DO BEAT the system.
I would argue that suckers are the ones who think they are not paying the full amount just because they are paying monthly. Do your math and you will find they will end up paying more. Actually much more. It is a trick that network carriers have been using for over a decade and it does work.

$999 US is about $18,900 MXN, or a week in the Mayan Riviera with my girlfriend, all inclusive... -.-

Don't forget the 16% Mexico IVA. The current iPhone 7 retails in the US for $749 and this same phone in mexico is $17,799 MXN. I can bet this iPhone 8 will be priced beyond $23,000 MXN +

I'd pay that in a blink if it had features justifying that price. You know, real magical, innovative, well implemented, well designed, oh-wow stuff like the Apple of old used to do. Sadly, OLED display as used by competitors since 2012, inductive charging as used since 2013, and all the other catch up stuff is not it, so I will pass.

That might be a little too rich for my blood for a phone. That is a bit outside the value threshold for me. I think I would rather get a Surface Laptop or iPad Pro.

Actually, OLED has been around on phones since 2008 and the original Galaxy S smartphone since 2010. I even had a Sony NW-E507 OLED MP3 player in 2005. Inexpensive prepaid phones now even come with OLED. Apple is just late to the party from milking the profit from dinosaur LCD tech.

I just did the math and all together I'm paying 6$ less by financing.

True, long enough that I don't remember, or that it would be a USP for a new iPhone. As are all the other rumored features.

You know as well as I do that this will sell faster than Apple can produce them and likely have record sales. Apple still manufactures several other iPhones at more reasonable price points. Or, if the $999 "iPhone 8" is out of your price range, check out the $850 Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus for $850 (with 64 GB).

But then I'd have to support the despicable company that is Samsung. No thanks.

You are using AirPods more for the portability, convenience and ease of use, rather than for absolute sound quality (in which case you wouldn't be using wireless headphones to begin with).

Wearing spectacles, over-the-ear headphones have never felt comfortable as they tend to press my ears against my spectacle frames. Other wireless earbuds still have a cable going around my neck. The AirPods just feel so comfortable in my ears, like they are barely there, and I can leave them there for hours on end and not feel any sort of discomfort or fatigue. Plus, when I am done with them, I just slip them back into their charging case and keep them into my front shirt pocket or my pants pocket.

At the end of the day, the best headphones are the ones you have on you.

Exactly. The subsidy comes at a price in the end. Buying it for the full price is cheaper.

You support that despicable company anyway since Apple uses Samsung components one way or another.

That's true. Apple has used Samsungs processors and they ordered 70 million OLED panels from Samsung as well. The A9 (Used in the 6s) processor was manufactured by Samsung /TSMC for example.

Apple can't make enough of them. IPhones are everywhere (even people on benefits have iPhones).

Inn my opinion they should be double this price and become exclusive again.

It'll be going up in cost quite considerably if the new MacBooks are anything to go by. Sadly. Very sad times indeed as they are simply milking consumers for no particular reason. Their **** already feels premium. There is really no need to jack up their prices even higher to make their products out of reach. The sad truth is that people are still going to get them, delving further into debt.

I think I need to start thinking about a strategy I came up some years ago a little more...

That is: Try to maximize usage of cross-platform applications on both macOS and iOS.

Have an exit strategy preferably for everything, because my Lord should I end up still using both as main drivers 20 years from now Apple will have to have had a massive shift in leadership.

Anything less than 64GB is a waste of time as apps continue to be bloated messes done by kids who couldn't write slimmer code if you threatened to pour hot lead up their bum.

Oh yeah tell me about it!!! IMO Apple needs to step up and stop (for example) Facebook pushing out 500mb updates to their largely web-driven app with little/no description of what is actually being done.

My internet is 1.6Mbps (that's the fastest available and I'm 10 minutes drive from the city centre of my country's capital city). Having 20+ 500Mb 'updates' many weeks is painful and (potentially) dangerous if any of those updates are security patches.

IMO we waste web data soooooo badly nowadays!!! Fast downloads coupled with almost infinitely large storage devices for consumer devices makes the web soooooo painful for anybody with internet slower than ~30Mbps symmetrical. IMO just because we CAN, doesn't mean we SHOULD be using such large apps! (Or like... 30MP photos from a phone camera... just... because...)

What i think people need to do is stop overreacting, if you can't afford to buy or don't want to spend that much money on the iPhone 8 that's fine Apple are rumoured to be releasing an iPhone 7s and 7s Plus so they are catering to those who don't want the iPhone 8. All this overreacting at a rumour that then leads to silly comments like "Tim Cook needs to go" or "Apple is doomed" is just nonsense, i can bet that Tim Cook is going no where, not only is Apple doing well profits wise but they are also on course to be the first TRILLION DOLLAR company.

The reason why Apple can do this today is because no one, except the handful of suckers who buy unlocked at full retail and think they are beating the system, will see it as $1000. It is $49/mon for 12 months, then trade up and continue.

And if someone doesn't want a new phone every year, what do they do then? Buying up front and sim-less does a few things. First, your plan is cheaper. Second, you can jump from one carrier to another. Third, you can choose to skip a month if you don't have the money because an emergency came up. Fourth, your credit is not on the line if you miss a payment.

Freedom is always better.

So I can get a Galaxy S8 with facial scanning, OLED, wireless charging, and minimum bezels for $300 dollars less and the s8 is selling in record numbers. And most of these features Samsung has last year...

What exactly is the next iPhone bringing to make it worth that much more?

1. facial scanning is not the most secure option, your phone can be unlocked w/ your photo, also not very practical in a lot situations. IRIS scanning is also cumbersome...
2. The AMOLED display is not that great, with a medium to low lit screen and white background the color accuracy is horrible, you get a some yellowing or pint hues on the screen... Blacks are great on the AMOLED but whites are horrible IMO... On top of that you get distorted colors on the curves...

Apple does need to update their design but a lot of the features Samsung has added look cool at first but you end up not using them or they end up getting in your way...

That is quite presumptuous of you to accuse people of being liars if you are claiming that the ones that say "I'm out" will be lining up. If you are referring to a different group of people then your comment makes no sense.
LOL, ya ok. I'm accusing people of being liars. Get over it and lighten up.
