Uh...what? Dude, almost nobody uses a Windows Phone. You're literally in the minority. So lemme ask you this: Why do you own one? They're ridiculously limited and do almost nothing in terms of apps. I'd rather spend my money on an iPhone or Android device than ever, ever use a Windows Phone. There's more cons than pros as well IMO to owning a Windows Phone. Move away from that Lumia and just switch to a Android device or an iPhone. You'll get more for your money if you do.

I have a windows phone :D Lumia 535 ! It has a really nice camera on it in my opinion - compared to my 1st Gen Moto E .

I can more than afford it (and that's not to sound arrogant) but there is absolutely noway I will ever pay that for a damn phone. Hell I only owe 25k on my car :)

At this point, give me an iPhone 4, with touch ID, the latest camera and latest A9 chip, IOS6 and I'll be happy. The OS is now so bloated with utter junk.

I understand laptops being expensive. I expect to keep mine for multiple years. But if smartphones are supposed to be upgraded once a year, these prices are too much.

But that's just it. There's absolutely no reason anyone needs a new phone every year. You could buy a new laptop every year too, but that would be ridiculous, right? Keep your phone for a few years and suddenly $1000 seems pretty reasonable for a pocket computer you use far more than your laptop.

Yeah no. I don't care about iPhones anymore. It had its intrigue. Now it's just become a staple. Nobody I know cares which model you have.

In my country the 7 Plus starts at exactly $1000 (including taxes).
iPhone 7 is "only" $850
So those prices are already really high. I can expect the 8 to cost about $100 more than the 7+, so about $1100.
When I bought my iPhone 4 in 2010 it costed about $700 and even the Mac was more affordable. We have higher taxes compared to the US, but Apple has raised prices too much on the EU in the last couple of years and the iPhone is becoming a luxury item

I hate the fact that it's rumoured to be either 64gb or 256gb. For me 64gb is not enough and 256gb is overkill.

Apple knows that they have a a loyal group of consumers who will buy the new iPhone every year, or two, these people are not price sensitive. Increasing the price of the new iPhone pushes up the ASP (average selling price). Apple realises that they can probably make more by increasing ASP than increasing user base.

this!

Apple die hard loyal group of consumers will buy every new iPhone, every single year.
They really don't care if the design is the same year after year, as long as there is a Apple logo on the back, then these specific group of consumers will buy it.
Just some small internal changes will go make this group consumers going wild 2.0-style.
Apple is fully aware of this, and handle accordingly to this (= prices going up insanely last few years)

Its a group of consumers who are made happy very easily when it comes to a release of a new iPhone.

Apple's marketing at full speed there! ;)

My next phone is gonna be an iPhone SE. Even if I get the 128GB option I'm still gonna be paying half that of an iPhone 8.

In saying that I'll probably be still on my 6S for the next three years anyway. I was on an iPhone 4 until 2015.

Some people are not into apps. They want a phone that makes calls and sends SMS , along with mail . For many it's still just a communication device , and not a lifestyle choice

Same here . Once my 6S plus dies, the SE is looking the goods. I'd rather spend 1k on a computer

That's a 1-2% minority. The 98% create the profits.

My daughter loves her SE because of size. It really was a premium phone when released because it was the fastest at that time. Some love to compare this with new ipad but that's the main difference. Speed. The new ipad can't claim that.

Not many need an iphone every year. I know i don't (and thought the iphone 6/6plus were duds..i stuck with 5S that year). Some features get me though. The speakers in the latest one drew me to it as did waterproofing but enough water problems have come about that I see water resistant as marketing bs and not in applecare. But the speakers do make for a better phone. OLED is another I've wanted a long time. If not for OLED rumor, I'd pass on any 7S.

$1000+ for a phone

I think they are taking the piss

Apple have been insanely clever. The smartphone is now synonymous with modern life and something that most would consider essential to their everyday life.

Apple have created a buzz around the iPhone in a way that no other company has managed. Most iPhone owners believe the iPhone is the only phone and won't even consider another brand/OS (my wife is one of these - she hates her iPhone and complains about it on a weekly basis, but will not even consider looking at Android).

Apple is capitalising on this. If the iPhone is considered essential to most iPhone users, I don't blame Apple for pushing their prices higher and higher. I can see a day that the iPhone is twice what it is now.

Make no mistake: all Apple care about are their profits.
