Or may be Ming-Chi Kuo was told by Apple to spread such news so that people will get desperate for IphoneX.

Not sure how many iPhone consumers actually pay attention to a tech website to become 'desperate' based off one rumor. Doesn't seem reasonable.

NOT Rocket Science and any kid with math skills could figure this out.

Apple's most-recent ASP was $618 ... the total # of units sold was 46.677M.

That ASP number told the whole story (when Apple announced it, the day before the X launch), yet NO Pros figured it out !!

Now Kuo comes out a week + later, and says what some ten year old kids probably already figured out !

Apple Watch makes having the big phone a nice option

Apple Watch is apparently where all the hopes for smaller more, mobile devices from Apple lie. Until they decide to start ridiculously inflating the size of those too.

It would be nice if Apple started getting a little more pocket conscious, not everybody has a purse or big fat pants to haul these ever increasing slabs around in.

Love my Airpods, but with a case, plus a Watch, having a silly large screen hub device just seems like an antiquated, unnecessary bulk to carry around. Something needs to shrink, or this iOS ecosystem suffocates under its own weight.

If iPhone X came in a smaller size, I’d buy in an instant. The iPhone 6/7/8 size was already a lame inflation for battery space compromise. I’m just not interested in another iPhone until Apple makes a compelling device is a non-Duplo sized form factor.

Given that the X really favors those who were already users of the 4.7” size or desired the smaller form factor, I wouldn’t be surprised to see some decline in 8 sales not that it’s here. It’s clear the 8 (and even the 8+) wasn’t expected to ever be a huge launch seller. At the same time, the 8 looks to be a model that will sell well over time. Sales may slow from initial demand, but they will eventually reach a steady state.

Not so sure . The X price point and moving away from touchid is not for everyone . The iPhone 8 is a very nice unit

Just can't see people deciding to get a X over the 8 all the sudden.... it's £300 more..... that is a very large amount .
Well, when I was able to get the X for the SAME price that I'm paying for my 7+, it was a no-brainer.

So apple made a boat load 8's in the start of the ramp. They then hoarded them to ensure that every one who wanted one had one. Now the ramp is over. The time for the X to ramp up in massive waves has started. Apple is just pruning the orders before they end up with a stock pile. The X is selling very well and the plus following behind. The smaller phone has just gone out of vogue natural.

Yep, our family of 3 need pocketable. Have the watch - if they could forego the phone and put the signal quality in a stand alone watch, I would go with that. I have an ipad 12.9 and that works for my browsing, email, etc needs.

We won't know until quarterly results but perhaps the 50-60% drop off has to do with people hanging on to their current phones.
Consider:
the 8 isn't that compelling to 7 owners.
the 8 looks a whole lot like what current 6/6s/6+ owners have

I think this will give Apple the reason to remove the 8 type of device next year, we will probably end up with a X and X Plus.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with X demand going forward, you'd expect all the early adopters who will have one whatever the cost to probably have got it on launch, so there might be a significant normalisation between the three models sales volumes as we go back to people who will just upgrade as part of their normal cycle.

The news is totally expected. The iPhone 8 has 4 year old designs with minimal tweaks from iPhone 7. No reason to upgrade to 8 if customers have 7, even 6s. From 6, sure, due to some changes. Overall, the 8 is not a game changer.

X, however, is the true upgrade from all previous phones due to radical design and technology. X is the superb iPhone in the iPhone history.

Thank you! Everyone is screaming they don’t want a bigger sceeen, but fail to realize the X is about the same size as the standard size iPhone footprint. The almost all screen makes it worth it. Finally we have an iPhone that’s not terribly large but has the screen to justify it. I always went Plus the last 3 models because of the screen, the bezels were annoying but I lived with it.

Ming-Chi Kuo greatly dropped the ball with multiple reports of “iPhone X production problems” that would render the device “unavailable until February”.

No longer a reliable source.

Kuo was NEVER reliable. He just throws stuff on the wall to see what sticks and changes predictions as more concrete information comes out (thus making it seems like he knows it all). I don't know why MR and other rumor sites keep on riding his nuts.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, “lower-than-expected iPhone 8 demand could result in fewer orders for Apple.” I like the way Ming-Chi Kuo thinks.

@thisisnotmyname is commenting about the info in the article, not rendering an opinion regarding which one is a better buy. If the analyst are to be believed, the 8+ already outsells the 8, so the opposite isn't true.

That logic doesn't hold up since the 8+ is reportedly the first + model to outsell the regular model. The + models for the 6, 6S, and 7 didn't outsell the regular models so the your theory doesn't hold.

This is simple. Not complicated. The iphone X canniblized iphone 8 sales. Its that simple. The iphone 10 is the replacement for the 4.7 inch iphone who do not want to carry a tablet in their pocket. It has nothing to do with the 8 being outclassed. It has the same internals as the other two phones. If there was no X iphone 8 sales would outpace the PLUS again like normal.

This is a analyst providing alternative facts. They sensationalize their findings to promote themselves. The more they promote themselves the more jobs and offers they receive. The 8 is a much better phone than the 7, as the 8 plus is a much better phone than 7 plus. The X grabbed the sales of the 8 and some of the plus as well. Not complicated.

I'm waiting for the iPhone Xs or whatever they call it, next year. Hopefully the price will come down a couple hundred bucks, just like the original iPhone.

I'm excited for my X to arrive, but the phone I'm really most exited about is an updated version of the 5SE. Take that form factor, remove the bezels & home button, water-proof it, update the processor, and I'll buy two on the spot. One for me and one for my wife.

My wife will not upgrade until Apple upgrades that form factor. She kept her 5S until the 5SE came out, and she'll keep her 5SE as long as it takes.

The X will be cheaper next year (since it will be last years model then), but I doubt the Xs (or whatever the next phone is) will be any less-expensive than $1000. Apple only reduced the price of the original iPhone because it wasn't selling well. The X has proven that the market will now buy a $1k flagship phone. This is the new normal.

Must be my environment. Face ID has failed about 4 times since I got the X on the 3rd. In all cases, I was outside in bright sunlight. Otherwise, it always works... glasses, contacts, sunglasses, day, night. Very good solid tech! Love the X

Yes. In bright light environments face id does not well work well. Same with windows hello. I knew this going in but still bought the phone. I live in florida so we will see if i keep it. Its the dot matrix that fails in bright light. I think that they will change it to a blue light dot matrix as microsoft did to migate this issue next year.

Trust me, Face ID is everything Apple said it would be but better. No need to be afraid anymore lol

I couldnt disagree more. It fails all the time. its much to conservative and I would trade it for touch ID again in a second.
