I think My next iPhone will be a Google Pixel.

What benefit to a user does a curved screen have, what benefit does another type of connecter have when in my house we have lightening chargers in every room. Will apple update iOS to once again maximise efficiency and ease of use for customers? Until then, this iPhone is my last iPhone.

The pixel is USB C ....

It wouldn't be USB C tho ,really , more like USB C.5 or some crap, only supporting certified cables. Make no mistake Apple are experts at making us spend
I've played around with too many Android and Windows mobile phones with micro-USB to know exactly how reliable the average micro-USB cables are - not very reliable. They might all be able to charge, but many of them can't handle data transfer, especially for Samsung devices, which is the worst for requiring a certain micro-USB cable for data.

Even crappy knockoff Lightning cables will handle data, as long as the iOS device doesn't throw out a warning about it.

USB C - awesome

Confirming that this thing is going to drop at $1000, killer.
I was assuming that logically the pricing was going to be:

7S: $650 - $850
7S+: $750 - $950
X: $850 - $1050

Which is still crap, but better than "from a thousand bucks"

Maybe they'll make their own USB-C cables that will optimally charge the new iPhones. They'll probably give that guy Benson Leung a job, too. Gotta keep that MFi program going, you know? 0.5-1A and USB 2.0 speeds for non-compliant cables, 2.4A and USB 3.1 speeds for MFi certified ones. I think it stands for "mandatory free income" for Apple.

How about USB c is the other end? Lighting stays (for the time being) and you can plug into new macs and use old lighting cables as well.
March event with new iPad pros could tell us if that's true.

Same here. If this ends up happening, would 2018 see an iPhone 8S and an iPhone 9?

What the rumour mill are calling "iPhone 8" will be "iPhone Pro" I think.

I'm still holding out some feeble hope there won't be a 7S at all (unless iPhone 7S replaces the iPhone 7 like the "Series 1" Apple Watch replaced the first-gen).

Just give us an iPhone 8, and an iPhone 8 Plus. Same size as current phones, but with larger screens. Actual new technology that allows Touch ID, the camera and the speaker under the display. OLED display. Wireless charging at a distance, if the tech is ready.

Like was pointed out on the Talk Show: If people are only upgrading their phones every 3 years, they can be more expensive, and therefore have more expensive parts.

It's been five years which is no short time in the tech industry.
Charging cable should be unchanged as long as possible. If lightning is only used for five years, then they should have stayed with 30 pin and directly gone to USB-C.

USB-C? I don't see this happening. But who knows, I couldn't see them switching to lighting when they did either. With lightning, there was a clear benefit. I just don't see the benefit with USB-C.

For at least the last 5 years, maybe a little longer, I have not understood the advantage of using the proprietary Lightning connector. It is an 'Apple Only' solution that even Apple has never supported across its full product line, especially laptops and desktops.I've seen a few graphs showing that it is a little faster than comparable generation USB connectors, but not by great leaps. And most of the cables you plug into you iPhones/iPads are adapter cables: USB to Lightning. Because whatever you are plugging into uses USB, you are not going to go faster than USB. And for whatever reason 3rd party component makers, for the most part, did not make or use Lightning to Lightning cables and ports so that the additional speed and features that the port may have had could not really be used. I don't know if it was a form of anti-Apple sentiment by 3rd party manufacturers or because Apple didn't allow most 3rd party manufacturers to use the Lightning but by only being an Apple device, and not even a universally used by Apple device, it has been a hindrance rather than an advantage.

I'd love to see them switch to USB-C, even though it's slightly larger. But if they do, I'll really just be questioning why they didn't make that move with the iPhone 7. They just got done selling people (partly) on lightning headphones. If they had been able to, instead, sell everyone on USB-C headphones, then I'd bet people wouldn't have doubted their utility quite as much, as they'd have presumably worked with other devices as well.

We won't know until we see it but I'm little confused, is there only going to be the iPhone 8 and not a plus size? It seems to be only 1

You do realise USB-C solves the exact issue you're citing?
How does USB-C solve the problem that none of my lightning cables fit? Right now, I can charge my iPhone at work if I forgot to charge it. If it had a USB-C connector, I couldn't.

After selling everyone on lightning headphones? No way. If anything it will be a combination port of USB-C and Lightning. Much like USB-C and Thunderbolt 3 can use the same port.

This is Apple. They are not going to push out this beastly iPhone 8 when they have a 7S waiting in the wings.
