have you added up those Initial and subsequent $400 yearly costs roll forwards? Have you done this for your family yet on their devices? that only seems like half savings again its sort of smoke and mirror thinking to justify a very expensive device yearly, in you own mind

That is bad.
I'm the only one on my plan with a iPhone. I usually pay full price. For something I enjoy and get plenty of use out of I think it's worth it. I would probably say that even if I didn't resell it would be worth it. You might not think it's worth it and that's okay. Some people are into cars, boating, fishing, etc. if someone finds enjoyment out of something that doesn't hurt anyone else I don't see the problem. For some people maybe the cost of an iPhone is chump change?

Honestly, my iPhone 7+ battery is terrible. I Get up around 6:30 A.M and it is at 100%. I go through my day, and mainly only use it for music and notifications, and light Youtube, and by 4PM, its at 40%. When I get home, I use it for about 2 hours, just web browsing, and watching youtube, and in around an hour, I am getting the low battery warning.
Mine seems to be erratic. Some days it's freakishly great and some days it drains fast. The display seems to take a lot of power. I try to run it as dim as possible. Next would be the news app. I haven't bothered to fine tune settings for battery life since it does usually last me to bedtime.

hope they keep the screen resolution down to reasonable levels. 1080p screen on a 5" screen is good enough.
Anything over that is overkill and a waste of battery

No real need to upgrade.

It would be fun if Apple actually held you to it. Put your finger on touch ID and they refuse you. lol No jokes about it you will wait in line like everybody else.

I am amused thinking of people that swear they are done with Apple until the mini is upgraded etc. Please let us know when you will upgrade.

Paid trolls, ;(
Yep it gets tiring..with the same old hash..
I.E..Not buying, no innovation, etc and all the while the iPhones provide the best experience
and are still taking 94% of the profits..I expect that to rise this year!

I'd rather have a dual camera module than extra battery life for the "regular"size. Given that this redesigned model "iPhone Pro" or whatever is supposed to be the same physical dimensions as the 4.7" sized iPhone, but with a longer and slightly wider display with less bezel, I'd be surprised if the extra battery life goes towards just battery. They probably need to do that to get the dual camera module in there since the iPhone 7 Plus has extra RAM to accommodate it. And as everyone knows, extra RAM means more battery drain. I can't imagine there being a $1000 iPhone Pro without a dual camera module for portrait mode. Let's hope they just bump it up to a full 4GB for funsies. I hardly run up against RAM issues on 2GB vs. 1GB, but it would be nice to allow for more advanced real-time camera effects or as a buffer for super slow-motion, along with the occasional tab reload in Safari. But 3GB would be fine too for portrait mode.

I figure with the logic board shrink and bigger battery, we'll also see some pretty decent energy usage reductions in the A11 chip. More RAM and speed will negate part of that, and maybe some of the larger battery. Then if Siri starts doing some of her processing locally (per some rumors), that could eat some battery as well. Then there will be new iOS 11 features that will probably eat a small percentage of battery. IRL I doubt the battery life is extended beyond 20%, which is still always welcome. Apple tends to not give all the strides forwards towards battery life alone, but to improving the overall speed and functionality of the device with smaller improvements to follow. The big question is whether that new 2x capacity lithium tech is involved. Has anyone heard any updates on what's going on with that? I think it was supposed to start rolling out in early 2017. If the iPhone Pro is a lower margin, higher priced device, then perhaps it could use this new battery so Apple can slowly ramp up use until the 2018 or 2019 iPhone adopts it fully.

How do you enjoy an iPhone? for the hundreds you pay? Why new always was old bad?

Look you don't have to agree with it or even understand it. If people want to drop the cash on whatever widget they want, let them. It's not harming you is it?

Actually it harms everyone if price to entry is not a factor in peoples rational decision making, keeps prices artificially high, makes people poor that don't budget accordingly. I think consumerism is rampant mainly a result of Apl pricing tricks.

Pet Rock was similar but not on the scale of Iphone nor the expense outlay.

If people didn't buy iPhones every single time/year , prices would go down ...simple. innovation would go up...simple.

Its ok continue you behaviors don't expect much in return..see latest Apl products ...see "meh"
A subset of "rampant Apl buyers" ruin it for everyone. Making $1000 Iphones a-ok. Congrats.

The hype is strong with this one.

So, if I'm reading everything right, we're going back to having only one flagship model (no 8+), and it's going to be flipping amazing. I'm honestly OK with $1,000 if it has all these rumored features AND 256GB storage.

I just plug it in, problem solved :)

Putting in more efficient innards and keeping the same size battery is why my iPhone SE has awesome battery life.

I still don't see a reason to upgrade from my 6s. Yeah, battery life blows, but it also teaches me to manage time better and focus on more important things.

Yup , on the hardware side most popular Iphone parts are from Samsung
On software side most popular software in AppStore is from Microsoft
On services side when possible, most popular is Google followed by Microsoft
On store side, Apple has stores
On Browser side ,most popular is Chrome
