I bet he could sell his place in line at the last minute to somebody who could activate the account in their own name, maybe even somebody who paid him to wait there in advance.
 
Why?

I understand all the other iPhone posts, most of those have been related to the device in some way be they accessories or what have you. I also understand this is a mac community so the iPhone meet threads I get. But why is this a front page item?

Flash! People already in line for iPhone!

Really, is that news? Or a rumor? Or even interesting? Even this thread is nothing but "boy, what a loser" comments. Mmm, maybe it's entertaining? Is that why this is a news item? Entertainment?

I activated a new account at AT&T in prep for iPhone. I received a SIM card for the time being.

It says 'The new at&t' <3G)



I was informed that it was EDGE? Is this false advertisement?
 
For some reason I don't even think this guy is waiting in line, I bet he is already gone. anyone live by this store you can go check on him?
 
If these guys want to wait in line for the iPhone, then more power to them, it's fine with me. It's only the most anticipated consumer item since who knows when, why not enjoy the event. Go ahead and have some fun!

(unless they're just looking to make a quick buck by selling their phones on eBay... in which case that's really annoying)

I'm just bummed because, if this starts a trend, then I'm definitely not going to be able to get my hands on an iPhone this Friday, they'll all be gone... :(
 
June 29th...

Interviewer: "Congratulations! How does it feel to be the first in line to own the iPhone"
Camper: "Oh man, I'm so excited. I quit my job for this. I've been waiting here since Monday."
Interviewer: "So what are you gonna do now?"
Camper: "I'm gonna chuck this crappy ____ phone I got from Verizon!"
Interviewer: "You're on Verizon?"
Camper: "Yeah...I love their service!"
Interviewer: "You do KNOW that the iPhone runs on the GSM network only, right?"
Camper: "What's GSM? You mean this phone won't work on Verizon??"

Nah, it's just advertising of the 3G feature itself on the sim chip....unless we were to get some surprise from Apple that the iPhone was 3G. I highly doubt it, though.

As for these guys sitting out. Hey, to each its own!
I really doubt a whole week's wait is gonna get you some point of high advantadge, though.

Then again he never said he was going to buy it.. just see how it "worked", and in the meantime get a lot of free publicity and food. :(
