so...
you cannot send picture mail
you cannot send text messages to multiple addresses
you cannot do simple cut and paste
finicky bluetooth
and the new update will probably not address any of these things
but with this update you will able to buy songs while you are buying overpriced coffee at Starbucks?
the idiom "dont run before you can walk" comes to mind..but why fix something that does not make you money.

Not looking good for an update today. Anyone else just positively disgusted by this AND the total lack of attention to bug fixes / feature requests? There are simple things Wrong with or missing from the iPhone that should already have been dealt with.
I'd almost be willing to bet that the update is being timed with the release of some form of content on iTunes who's rep wants it to be front page when users click the iTunes button for the first time, and is paying a premium to make sure it happens.

It's got to be tonight, the other two updates were on tuesdays,,,I'm starting to go crazy over this update, It reminds me of when I was a kid waiting til midnight to open my presents.
I know they are paying attention to bug fixes; they responded to a bug report I filed, about a month after I filed it. You can argue that they should be doing more frequent firmware releases, though. While bug fixes do no one any good until they are released, I'm at least happy knowing that they are coming.

well the last 2 updates happened between 7 & 8 pm eastern time
and its now 7:02....so we'll see
Seriously, they better make up for it i mean if they had the software on display on the 5th it wouldnt be that hard to make it available soon after, so they better be adding some new stuff in all this time
Relax people.Like I said yesterday.Believe it or not.Apple is giving those that unlocked their iPhone a chance to restore it to it's default.

Honestly, I'm as excited as the next guy for this to come, though I too suspect it will be a major let down, but can we maybe stop with the "It's X:XX (insert time zone)" posts....I mean really...all I have to do it look at your post to see the time.
It reminds me of the medieval bell ringer....12 o'clock and all's well.....or not as the case may be.
Either way, with all this hype I'm surprised Vegas isn't giving odds....maybe we should sell squares like when my wife was pregnant....pick the date, time, and version number!

We are going to have to look long and hard at this update. I think the functionality of having awesome 3rd party software like "installer.app" on my iPhone may outweigh the need to have mobile iTunes (and all that Starbucks marketing hype).
Though I never saw reason to sim-break my phone (I actually like AT&T!), I have jail-broken it to add apps an never looked back. If you are going to announce that the damn thing runs OSX then why "lock" developers out? It's not 1980 Apple - the paradigm has shifted. But I guess we should expect no less from the people that (with a smile) announce "Ringtones... only 99 cents!"... Wait didn't I already pay 99 cents to purchase the song, now you want me to pay another 99 cents to listen to 30 seconds of it when I get a phone call? Apple might as well include an printable idiot sticker for the forehead of anyone who has bought this insanity (yes, I know its in the ULA - but that doesn't make it any less rip-offish).
Unless the next update has stereo bluetooth, cut and paste, you know, useful things other than features that drive revenue for Apple... Count me out!

Well, It's after 8 EST, which means 5PM Pacific... If no time soon then I am going to have to agree to those that have said Friday...
It is kind of funny how caught up everyone is with this fairly minor software update (myself included).

I agree with ya Craig! It is hilarious how everyone is so into this software update! but it is after 5 pdt now and I think we won't see the update till the end of the week now...it's going to be a Friday update....

fairly minor that we know of....idk i guess im a little suspicious cuz if it was just what they showed on sept. 5 then they should have had no problem releasing it by now, maybe they are adding something but then again maybe not....
