If anyone still cares for tonight, I read on another forum that someone heard CNN is reporting -- on the TV news updates; no available as copy on their Web site -- that Apple will lock unlocked iPhones tonight at midnight. Assume Pacific Time, but can't confirm. Of course this means the whole firmware update with WiFI Store and other features.
No promises. This is third hand. The poster was told by someone that he saw this specific info an time on CNN network. But it could always be a misunderstanding between the two friends, or a misunderstanding about the time of the update by CNN. But, midnight kind of makes sense for an update a lot of people are waiting on -- here, some people aren't too excited about the new features even if they have no locking concerns; but in the greater, casual iPhone world the WiFi Store is a big deal -- because if you release during waking hours for everyone the update servers get *slammed* but overnight, you get the late to bed, then the early to rise and head to work, over a much more spread out span of time.
