this was on another forum i just read

I noticed yesterday that under the cables and docks link for iPhone they put the TV out cables on there which means the new update will probably include that functionality.

Those have been there for at least a week because I ordered them from that very page you refer to .

This may sound like a stupid question, but what does the apple "store page" have to do with a iphone update on itunes??? I'm getting bored checking my computer every five minutes, so I'm trying to kill time with this question.......thanks

I was kind of wondering that myself. I guess its just a sign that the apple tecs are working on it and that something might happen... We hope...

I think all it really means is a shred of hope for some of us sick, sick people. Although, as I said in another thread, I'd buy iPhone Pages or some actual purchasable software for my iPhone. The fact that it's not worldwide is enough to keep me up.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Steve Jobs has a widget counting the number of times "check for update" is hit, all the while laughing his butt off.

I hope this is not an all night thing.....if they are going to release it they just need to do it....

Someone else suggested a 16GB iPhone - though I think that'd be an actual morning release with a press release.

I agree with ya...I don't think it's going to be a 16gb iphone....altho im not sure what exactly is going on..but i highly doubt a 16gb iphone....but who knows! you can never understand steve jobs!

As stated everytime the 16GB phone is brought up... I highly doubt they will bring that out any time soon, at least not until christmas time. Main reason being they would again have to deal with those who bought the 8GB's complaining, and Apple would just be in a huge mess again. The last thing they would want to do is deal with the million+ people that have bought iPhone's, and I am sure that many that purchased the 8GB would have purchased bigger had they had the option...

I definitely would have gotten the 16gb....and if they release it now it would create a HUGE mess at Cupertino!

Now that would be nice...

This is what I want and I would be happy (Not asking for it tonight or this week, but definitely in the near future):

Copy and Paste!
MMS!
Copy/Download pictures online (from e-mail or safari) to phone
Double click space for period
Applications! (Text editing, games, iChat, etc)

I am sure I could list more, but I am tired...

I know if it happens tomorrow then I won't get to see it for a while, I'll just have to read the boards about it during the day. I'd honestly like to hit "Check for Update" tonight and discover any new features for myself first...

Long time for an Apple Store update... Seems like they'd just have it ready and just roll it over.

If no iPhone update follows... then someone at Apple is a sick and twisted individual. What torture for those who love their iPhone.

iTunes is checking for the server now... And failing.

EDIT: Maybe everyone just tried at midnight (Pacific)... It's back to normal now.

I am getting that feeling too... with the fact that the store is still not up and running, and the rest of the website would also have to be updated as well. Oh well, it is 3:00 where I am... which means 12:00 midnight for Apple in Cali

I'm starting too.. The thing is - Apple has to know quite a few iPhone owners are watching this.

Well now I can't get even get the software update server to respond...probably thousands of nuckleheads like me trying to see if there's an update!

Typically, after automatically checking for an update, iTunes will schedule the next sequential auto-update for the same day on the following week. Just now, the auto-updater ran a check and scheduled the next for tomorrow, so this must be a sign that 1.1.1 is dropping thursday!

Meaning today.... The question now is what time....

Mine still says 10/2/07...

I don't recall ever seeing the store down this long, going on 3 hours. To drop it at 10PM (Pacific) seems a little early for maintenance. Three hours seems a little long for... well anything.

Perhaps they're monitoring the frequency at which the server is being pinged and waiting for a reasonable volume before opening it up? I have no clue how many people the iPhone Update Server can handle. If it's released tonight (or any night) the update volume would be spread out as each time zone wakes up.

Oh well... I'm tired and bored - speculation keeps me awake.

Lots of people have different dates, I wouldn't read much into them.

That being said, I doubt they'd have to shut down the Apple Store for an iPhone update; it really doesn't make much sense. I think it's more likely they're announcing something at the Paris Expo that will be available in the Store.

Meaning the 27th. Sorry, I should have clarified that in my previous post.

[update]

after rebooting my machine, it appears iTunes has bumped the check to 10/3, so I'm guessing that these dates really don't mean anything. Look at us, Apple has us yearning for this update like some glassy-eyed junkies!

Possible. But, strange that they would announce a product in Paris that's not available there... Only the North American stores appear to be down. And 3.5 hours?
