At&t Fail!!!!

I'm a small business owner. I've been waiting for tethering.

I've excused Apple's delay with tethering and MMS since the iPhone is a new platform, and I think they have done an amazing job with it. Good things come in time.

We have known about 3.0 for a long time. It has been tested. It will soon be available.

Where has AT&T been? Why are they PURPOSEFULLY not allowing features that Apple has built into this phone.

I have called AT&T to file a complaint.

You should too.

AT&T: 1-888-333-6651

Call and give 'em hell.

Enough angry customers = results.

One of the few things I can look forward to!

Can someone straighten out the details; i.e., will voice control be software or hardware?

Casting my vote for being PO'd at AT&T for not supporting MMS from the moment available. This is total crapola.

Per AT&T MMS will be included in existing text messaging plans.

http://twitter.com/attnews

The 15¢ per MMS is on Rogers (Canada) for users who currently don't have the new Unlimited SMS + MMS value pack.

I have the original $30 6GB plan with unlimited SMS, Call Display and Visual Voice Mail. No MMS. I don't plan on using it anyway.

What I'm surprised and happy about is that "Evil Rogers" is allowing tethering for free. You just use your existing data plan. Since I have 6GB, I think that will be sufficient. I won't be doing any bit torrenting on the go...lol

AT&T should be ready for MMS.. by the time we're on 5G! It's good to see them on top of things. Sad to see an awesome device being held back by a ****** carrier..

I have the iPhone 3.0 GM Seed installed on my iphone... MMS wasn't working on it until I did a restore without backup. MMS now works thank god. One thing I cannot find but doubt they have released with the GM seed is the Accessbility feature in the General tab to try the Voice control feature. Can anyone else see it? If so let me know how you got it to work.

i'm not thrilled with AT&T's late out of the gate support for some of these features, but for those clamoring for another provider let's not forget the iphone was first offered to verizon but they had no interest in allowing apple to do what apple wanted (over the air music purchases, visual voice mail, etc...)

it's not like had apple gone with verizon it'd be all kitten and skittles, it'd just be a different set of missing features to bitch about.

Best news to me:

* Sending your location in Messages app! I was hoping for that. "Here's where I am" in the mall/park/hiking trail/campus/whatever. (But then messaging finally gets useful enough for me to CARE that AT&T doesn't include any free in theit plan :( ) Also, I hope other phones can exchange GPS locations via MMS in the same way. Seems like it could be standard, but I'm no expert.

can this be done with built in messaging app? if so how is it done. im installing gm 3.0 in 20 min

no voice dial in 3.0

sucks I commute to work and use my phone for business during my commute... not a software update... Suck it Apple!

I'm looking foward to this for my iPod Touch. I don't have to deal with all of the network nonsense. HA! Until iPhone is on Verizon, I don't think I'll touch it.

Sounds like to me for those that want mms or what ever the **** it is, all you have to do is call in and have them manually activate it. for those that don't care, it will be automatically turned on later this summer.

Sooooo…

No real network speed bump here in the US.
No MMS until "late summer"
No tethering in the US
US customers upgrading from an iPhone 3G will have to pay either $299 (8GB), $399 (16GB), or $499 (32GB) - per Apple fine print

Yeah…nothing to see here. I'll keep my money in my pocket.

AT&T and Apple can suck it. The sad thing is, upgraders and early adopters are your real evangelists. This is going to hurt the adoption of the phone without a doubt.

Piss and moan...

No Commitment Prices:
Sam Impression $400
BB Bold $450
BB Curve $400
HTC Fuze $500

If you already have a contract then no one has to give you a discount. That's any carrier ever. They 'allow' you discounts based on your contract. It's a reason everyone hates the 2yr deal. Why the hell do you think a NEW device should cost an existing customer the same price as a new activating customer? It's what, $100 over the new customer price? That seems fair when you see all the same cost difference on other devices.

Apple did their part to put a faster HSDPA chip in the phone. It's AT&T's job to upgrade the systems and according to what I've read large cities are getting the updates as we speak. Other cities are still getting 3G. The iPhone and a few other items are really pushing the build out of data networks. Let's face it, if people didn't have a phone worth using companies wouldn't need to build a network to support it and no one would care about the web in their pocket. We tech people are the few and spoiled.

Also, AT&T has to be able to handle the extra data of MMS, push notifications and tethering. They are having a hard time keeping up. Nothing was said about AT&T not supporting tethering.

And you said that all of this will hurt the adoption of the phone. lol  Yeah, a $100 iPhone will kill all the sales. Add that AT&T plans may include a $10 drop in the data charge? Are you on something or what because all I see is more iPhone sales, more apps and more praise of the iPhone. Remember that Apple still has a lot of 1st gen customers that haven't upgraded because of their contracts and that 3G still isn't everywhere but once they see that it is, boom! new iPhone 3G S.

UK: 600 minutes, free incoming, 500 texts, tethering, MMS (£35 - $56 - including taxes and fees)
US: 450 minutes, no free incoming, 200 texts, ($85 plus taxes and fees)
AT&T blow.

poor iphone upgrade :( sorry ! no mate case, no front camera, no magnetometer, no improved virtual keyboard, no LED screen, no blahblahblah
75% of the rumors, pictures was worth a **** and wasted time to discuss about it.

To me this looks like a "feed the stupid chicken" marketing tactic.

AT&T SUCKS!!!

I want:

-MMS NOW!
-Tethering NOW included in the data plan at the same price!
-Texts added to the data plan at no additional cost!

Do it now you worthless excuse for a network!

We make you all your money anyway AT&T, why don't you try to treat us right and maybe the millions of us will consider staying with you when other networks get the iPhone if you are lucky!
:apple:

Verizon will make you feel this way too. The only company that charged a fair price for me and works in about 97% of the places I go is T-Mobile. They are fair and reasonable but that left them with no money to keep up with the data plans I needed.

The matte case was an old pic. I haven't got a way to prove it right now but I had seen those photos before and called BS on it being matte. There isn't 2 way video calling support on any phone in the US. So since the US is behind the rest of the world and Apple will not ship 2 versions it sucks that you guys have to suffer because the US' phone companies are that far behind.

Here!

...from this it looks like it's only the new model that will support it.

Thanks. I would like to point out that an old 3.0 video I have said that adding video was possible in the 3.0 upgrade. I'll go look tomorrow but I swear it did.

Now that US consumers can't get the feature you happily note that in the headline...

Whenever Apple launches a new feature or application for the iPhone that doesn't work in ALL OF EUROPE or THE WHOLE WORLD OUTSIDE THE U.S. you people at macrumors blatantly ignore that fact and make news headlines saying "Kindle App for iPhone now available" resulting in thousands of European and Asian readers getting disappointed by reading your story based on the misleading headline.

Now when Apple launches a feature for The Rest of Us but due to their partnership with braindead AT&T are unable to launch the tethering feature for the US market you have no hesitation to put it in the headline in a very obvious way. That reflects an unfortunate US BIAS in your editing, of which I as a European user disapprove. You should give us Europeans, Asians and citizens of the world the same service that you prefer to give to your US readership by marking CLEARLY in the headline whether a new feature is available to the entire world or just to the US market. Thank you.

no upgrades from 3G to 3GS allowed

3 year contract is unacceptable

Phones have used LED backlights for ages. I'm sure you mean OLED which would have increased the price of the device significantly and would have had everyone up in arms for that reason. It's too new of a technology

Uh the new iPhone does have a magnetometer. Did you actually pay attention to the whole compass demonstration?

Who cares about the outward design when there was nothing wrong with the design in the first place? The important thing is the internals all of which were updated. Everyone complained about the web page rendering speeds and therefore the CPU and RAM saw an upgrade, Apple upgraded the data capabilities, more battery life, better camera plus video, and the software has been improved across the board for all iPhone users. The problem is with AT&T who won't be ready for 7.2Mbps until the end of the year.

What exactly is an improved virtual keyboard and what is wrong with it now?

way to go at&t

my blackberry friends are gonna laugh at me when they find out this new launch STILL isn't gonna include MMS. they're gonna laugh even harder when they find out i STILL have to wait. thank you at&t. at least apple got their part right (as always) with copy/paste, find my iphone, and everything else they talked about at the keynote. the only thing that sucked in that keynote was YOU at&t.

but i still love my iphone, very excited for 3.0 =D
