Another lame "event" from AppleT&T.

If Apple and At&t were in bed together then these problems would not exist.
They are adversaries who try to work together.
The iPhone is already on multiple cell providers, both by design and crack,
and the US exclusivity is coming to an end.

Now time to stop hijacking the thread and back to the title:
iPhone OS 3.0 Launching June 17th!!:D

I hate AT&T

I will admit the coverage has gotten better but I don't see how Apple can let them dictate the terms. If at&t can't keep up maybe its time to find someone who can.

Another lame "event" from AppleT&T. What's that, like 5 worthless Macworld and WWDCs in a row now ? Sad. Only redeeming feaure was a small upgrade on the Macbook Pros.

Look at the freakin title of the Confrence Developers this obviously states that this will focus on OSX and the iphone people obviously cant understand the point of these too.

Still stuck with my 1st gen phone not being able to MMS for 2 years now. If ATT was able to do visual voicemail at launch, there is absolutely no technical challenge to implement MMS! WTF ATT!?
Can someone give me an objective explanation why ATT did not implement MMS (or at least point me to a thread)?
We're all paying big bucks to ATT for use of the phone. Is it really about money???
Picture: 10 executives sitting around a table. Exec#1 "I think it should be $.14 per message," Exec#2 "no definitely $.50," Exec#3 "What's MMS?,"
C'mon, if ATT can't figure out how to implement MMS, then how the F* long will it take them to implement Tethering--Think about it!

Listen, unless you let ATT know how you feel, it's pointless getting upset here. Get on their website, log into your account, and contact them. Let them know your disappointment and that you will look to another carrier if Apple opens it up in the USA. Unless they get flooded with comments/concerns, it falls on deaf ears. MacRumors is not going to do anything about it. But if 80% of the iPhone users logged onto ATT's website and voiced the issue, it would get attention and likely resolved. Just my opinion here.

You are exactly right! However, all the news outlets will run with the story and AT&T will know how bad they look and how everyone feels!

I still agree that AT&T should be contacted. I will!

Here is how I'm viewing my current situation.

Day 1 purchase of iPhone 2G (8GB) for both my wife and I.
Day 1 purchase of iPhone 3G (16GB) for both my wife and I.

I've been dealing with AT&T as a carrier for almost the past 2 years simply because of the iPhone. Their service is crap compared to Verizon in my area...

At this stage, I refuse to pay an arm and leg to upgrade both my phones because AT&T and Apple failed to work out a deal best for their "early adopters/valued customers".

I'm "close" to transferring both my numbers back to Verizon and not dealing with the drop calls anymore.

One bad decision after another with AT&T (tethering, MMS, no 3G option for Sling player when other phones on their network support it, no-subsidized pricing for the early iPhone adopters that helped AT&T gain a ton of new subscribers in mass).

:(

How did a thread about the new iPhone 3Gs become a rant about At&t?

Back to the subject. The new software rocks and the new iPhone will be a winner.
Anyone who complains, after these software and hardware improvements, needs to get a life (or a girlfriend might help)

And I can't figure out why people keep misspelling them as AT&T or at&t when it's actually AT$T! :D

God I hate AT&T, MMS is working with other carriers but not them. Tethering is an available feature but one AT&T doesn't support. As much as I love the coverage they SUCK!

I agree! "Late Summer" or "up to several months after launch"! WTF? If they wait until 2010 to allow something as simple at MMS, I'm ditching AT&T at the first opportunity. I also like their coverage, but I'm truly disappointed in their network capabilities. They have a lot of work to do to keep my business between now and next year!

Tethering is going to cost a BOMB!

Also, no early upgrade it seems

LOL! Well, I'm stuffed on PAYG again! When I first bought my 3G on PAYG I wondered why I couldn't get the email app to work. I went into the O2 shop and lo and behold, email to the phone isn't supported on PAYG. I had a phone on the 3 network a few years ago, on PAYG and had email and video conferencing no problem. Ironically, as I am excluded now from iPhone tethering as well I'll just have to stick with my dongle, which is on the 3 network!

Anyway, I simply replaced the email app button with a direct link to my mobile email account. I wonder if the new push notifications will work with this?

Really? I lost a bar when the 3G came out and a month ago I lost nother bar (down to just one bar). It just keeps getting worse for me!

It has nothing to do with if they can or can't do it...it's their network can't handle it right now. I was talking to one of the tech's the other day and he let it slip they're having all kinds of issues/calls from 3G users.

Ditto. I live on the periphery of San Diego and I get little or no reception at home, which is where I run my business. There have been *so* many times I have been tempted to switch to Verizon but it would mean ditching my iPhone.

I find the MMS thing, well....stupid. To release a feature on a phone but not have the exclusive carrier (AT&T) on the same page is beyond frustrating. It's almost laughable. Shame on Apple. Yes Apple.

I can't wait for 3.0 for my iPod Touch... copy and paste alone will be sweet.

Nice! So Excited!

Good WWDC in my opinion!

Ams.

It was ok. However, I was very disappointed Steve didn't make an appearance. The keynote really did need "One More Thing", particularly after enduring all those random iPhone app developers. /yawn

Hey, Apple ... lower the price of that Mobile Me stuff, hear me? This way we won't get as pissed when you tether features like "Find My iPhone" to it. Hmmmmm?

Here's hoping for an end-of-month surprise announcement on the Tablet/Netbook by Mr. Jobs.

Meanwhile, my wallet is ready to empty for that TomTom car accessory and app. Bring it on, baby!

Because of the amount we pay on a monthly basis! My bill for two phones is over $145 a month!

You're not paying more than any other AT&T smartphone user. The smartphone data plan is the same $30 as the iPhone data plan, and the calling plans are identical. If I buy the latest Nokia smartphone or Blackberry with a 2 year contract, and a new one comes out in a year, I'm not going to get a discounted upgrade either.

I still love my iPhone as pretty much a "fun" gadget. But it's time for me to switch back to a blackberry for business stuff. iPhone on ATT cannot yet reasonably be considered a viable business device.

I'm now assuming that it's a typo; the main page on the NZ site says 17th, and there's no reason not to release simultaneously when it's a download.

I think you're right, and you know what I'm thinking now? I think the different dates might have been the new iphone release. Sorry about that!!
