I'm on exchange and I don't have this issue.

I'm on exchange and have the issue. Started when I upgraded my 3GS firmware from 3.x to ios4. Continued with iPhone 4. Tried a tech bulletin apple issued that increased server timeout with 4.0. This was subsequently incorporated into 4.0.1.

Another example, MIT isn't recommending people upgrade to ios due to the issue. Came across it when I tried to troubleshoot.

Those having major slowdown issues with iOS4 and the 3G - turn off all Spotlight functions in Settings.

Worked like an absolute charm for me, and that was after hacking in multitasking, etc, through the plist file.

thanks - I'll give it a try...:)

Can someone who has installed the beta confirm if it fixes the iPhone 4 yellow hue photo issue when using the camera in low light or with flash?

iOS4 will have you multitasking - BEHIND THE WHEEL!

BEFORE your purchase an iPhone4 or update your iPhone 3GS to iOS4...

There are no means (aside from jailbreaking) to downgrade back to iOS3.x and iPhone 4 only runs iOS4.

Apple's latest iPhone iOS4 is preventing some users from being able to use their bluetooth headsets properly.

[enter scare tactic] Our streets will potentially become more dangerous due to people handling their iPhones EVEN MORE while driving!

Potential 'fixes' that have ALL FAILED, so far -

1) iOS4.0.1
2) Soft reset of iPhone4 under settings
3) Hard reset of iPhone4
4) Complete Reset of iPhone4 with iTunes
5) Switching bluetooth On/Off while on call
6) Remove bluetooth device (ignore this device) and re-pairing
7) Switch from speaker to bluetooth to iPhone to bluetooth
8) Installing insulting iPhone cover, sleeve
9) Contact Apple support with trouble ticket MANY Times

Did they fix the exchange/outlook bug? I don't see recurring meetings, appointments in my calendar but when I look at my laptop, they're there.

Which version of exchange server are you connecting to? We have a mix of 2003 and 2007 here at our company. Nobody on 2007 is having any issues with iOS4 (on any iPhone device) but some do on 2003. The timeout patch seemed to help most of them.

We've got numerous defects open with Apple on the BT issue and they are taking them seriously. I got another request for info from the developers yesterday. Be patient.

A problem that I've seen on every iPhone 4 has been the blue vingetting on the back camera, and a yellow tinge in low light. Easy enough to code a filter, hope they get this in 4.1

What about Apps

Just to put it out there, what about App Developers.

All is fine, something like iOS 4 comes out and gets on older models like 3G, App starts acting up, users don't know iOS for is maybe better not used on a 3G, they think the App is buggy and say so on App Store! Does the review get deleted since we all know it's not the App? NO!

So - early reports seem to (possibly, maybe, hopefully) indicate that the garbled audio on BT is fixed with beta 2.

More testing is required since that issue was hard to reproduce consistently but so far, it seems much better.

We're running 2007. Just migrated. It's odd... recurring meetings and appointments don't show up. Done all the tricks. Other folks that are on iOS4 are having issues as well... using 4.0 and patch or 4.0.1.

Dunno... all I know is I had zero issues with my 3GS and 3.x firmware.

I think this is the point where you should stop contributing to this thread. The more you post, the deeper the hole you dig for yourself.

And why is that so? Care to prove where I am wrong with what I am saying?

My point is people should do a little bit of research on the results of an upgrade to iOS4 on their iPhone 3G before doing the upgrade. If they see that things are going to be slow and won't work, save yourself the heartache and complaints and don't do the upgrade. Newer doesn't always mean better.

They had a choice: jump to iOS4 because they saw something newer (despite Jobs saying it would be slow), or stick with what works on their phone, and wait to get the hardware that supports it. They chose the former, and now complain that it's slow. That isn't Apple's fault, as they forewarned everyone.

I have a 16GB iPhone 3G, running 3.0.1. I was thinking of upgrading it to iOS4 until I heard Jobs say that, which I upgraded to 3.1.3 shortly after the keynote. It's staying there, because people like the above who are complaining that iOS4 is slow on their 3G iPhone basically were the guinea pigs for me, and showed everyone that upgrading it isn't worth it.

It's pretty much the Icarus effect. Icarus was told that if he flew to close to the sun, his wings would melt and fall off. He didn't believe it, so he flew close to the sun. His wings fell off. Jobs said that iOS4 would be slow on the iPhone 3G. People upgraded to it anyway. Now they complain that their iPhone 3G is slow.

That isn't hard to understand.

BL.

Your arguments were refuTed pretty effectively already. Did you not see the posts or are you ignoring them? There's no reason the users should be blamed for installing an OS upgrade Apple made available. If the performance is acceptable then Apple should have tweaked iOS4 or restricted it completely like they did with 2G users.

Talking down to people isn't going to make your case stronger, by the way.

And why is that so? Care to prove where I am wrong with what I am saying?
Please. Let me chime in – other people might already be fed up too much. Sorry. No pun intended.

My point is people should do a little bit of research on the results of an upgrade to iOS4 on their iPhone 3G before doing the upgrade.
Let's assume that I want to update my iPhone 3G and thus I visit this page where I read:

"Free iOS Updates
Your iPhone gets better with every iOS update, which is free for all iPhone owners. Right now, iOS 4 is available for iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. Just connect your iPhone to your Mac or PC, open iTunes, and follow the instructions to download the update.
"

And thus I think. Great. It's getting better again! Got it? "Your iPhone gets better with every iOS update"?

Note: Not a single word about being slow and unresponsive.

If they see that things are going to be slow and won't work, save yourself the heartache and complaints and don't do the upgrade.
Again. There is absolutely nothing on Apple's website that point to being slow, but instead of that I did read this:

"Compatibility
iOS 4 works with iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 3G. Not all features are compatible with all devices. For example, multitasking is available only with iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS.
"

And that is all you as end-user need to know.

Newer doesn't always mean better.
Sometimes not, but in this specific case it's also about security. All new and improved security – next to other bug fixes – which is what people should be more concerned about. Really.

They had a choice: jump to iOS4 because they saw something newer (despite Jobs saying it would be slow), or stick with what works on their phone, and wait to get the hardware that supports it. They chose the former, and now complain that it's slow. That isn't Apple's fault, as they forewarned everyone.
Apple specifically states, on their website, that iOS 4 is not only compatible, but also works great with the iPhone 3G. Go have a look for yourself.

BTW: There's a cure for the slowness already. It's that simple. Really.

Those having major slowdown issues with iOS4 and the 3G - turn off all Spotlight functions in Settings.

Worked like an absolute charm for me, and that was after hacking in multitasking, etc, through the plist file.

Is this under General => Home Button => Spotlight Search? Or are there other settings to turn off? Do I need to turn everything off or can I just narrow it down to a minimal number of categories.

Thanks! I'll Try it.

Let's hope this is fixed. The apple support forums are littered with tons of posts with the awful bluetooth support in the iphone4.

It's iOS, not iPhone OS.

iOS is Apple's official product name. iPhone OS is an absolutely valid descriptive phrase referring to iOS. There's clearly nothing wrong with someone writing about the Mac OS as opposed to OSX and nothing wrong with the phrase "iPhone OS"

(And yes, the phrase "iPhone OS" used to be apple's official product name. So what.)

What issues are you seeing with Nike+? I only started using it with the iPhone 4 as I had a 3G without it before so I have no idea how it worked on the 3GS. It does seem like after a few days or so, it has a really hard time picking the sensor up when you start out for a run. A reboot fixes it for me though, so I have been rebooting the phone while I stretch before I go out and it picks it up right away after that.

As far as issues with iOS 4on the iPhone 3G. I really think it has to do with upgrades. I don't know if Apple had some wonky code in there at some point or if its due to so many SW revs in the history of the 3G, but I specifically set my iPhone 4 up as new because my 3G was taking forever to sync and had really bad battery life and if you look around, you can see lots of people with the same issues. I did not want to bring any corruption issues over to the new phone.

I also had the proximity sensor problems from the beginning, well before 4.0.1 came out and I know the reports all over the web started well before that also, so I don't think it has anything to do with the bar fix.

The biggest problem is that when you pause a workout (for instance, to stop for a drink of water or wait for a red light when trying to cross a street), Nike+ fails to track your distance upon resuming the workout. This makes it a real pain for those of us who do long-distance workouts. Because I have to restart the application every time after pausing it, I end up with three or four shorter workouts rather than one long workout, and therefore cannot accurately gauge my progress from one day to the next.

Others are having problems with the voice feedback and playing songs in iTunes while using Nike+ since upgrading.

If you're interested in learning more, there are a couple of long threads about it on both the Apple and Nike+ user forums.
