The overall trend is that iPhone will become about as marginal of an item as Macs.

Well, the "actual" overall trend is that the iPhone continues to increase its market share every year. As opposed to your "imaginary" overall trend.

I'm actually glad that I don't have an iPhone since it seems everyone else does. It seems to just be turning into a generic device for the masses. Glad I own something different and unique with my Droid RAZR.

I'm glad being "different" makes you happy.

I love iOS on a phone... and the iPhone is the only phone that does.

Count me as part of the HAPPY generic masses. :D

.....
So, honestly, I don't even understand the argument that you should pick android cause it comes with turn by turn. So what? You can get that free for the iPhone too.

Well, at least people can pick Android to get pre-installed carrier crapware.

Of course you don't need 8 months to sell a good phone, as evidenced by the iPhone selling 4million opening weekend and 4 million Christmas day itself (when the Nexus, Bionic and RAZR were all available).

What stores were open on Christmas day? Or did you mean activated on Christmas day?

It was a simple question. If can't answer it, that's fine.

Great, you done?

Yeah, I know now. I don't even know why people say things like "Android has bloatware" when it really doesn't by definition.

Well it does, because apps like demos and blockbuster video and amazon mp3 that you can't uninstall end up using up resources on phones with low memory. Its not as big a deal now that Android OEMs are stuffing like 4GB of ram into their phones, but it was when the droid1 and other phones released around that time were the prevalent phones available.

LOL, that's like saying Gmail on Android phone is bloatware.

Really.

iOS by default as bloat ware on it.
Lets see Apps on iOS that I see tossed in a folder called crap or unwanted ect that can not be removed.

Stocks, Game Center, Reminders.

On Android you can remove the Gmail app or any of the others. But on iOS you can not remove stock Apple Apps that they force on you.

Thats not what bloatware is. Just because you don't use it doesn't mean it's bloatware. See definition above.

Second, on android you CAN'T remove the bloatware app or any of the others stock unless you root your phone. ICS allows you to 'disable' any app you want, but it still exists on the phone.

Who says "Android has bloatware"? You're the one that brought up bloatware.

I brought it up because other people brought it up because they thought it meant something else. like this person:

Yes, don't forget the 47% marketshare...somehow this means everyone doesn't have an Android...

The 47% is actually not market share. Look at how they collected the data and you'll see it's just a share of sales over the holidays and only addresses US. In reality, I would assume that Android's market share a much higher.

A lot of Android hate here. Is it good to have NO choice? "You can order any smart phone you like, as long as it's an iPhone".

It's always good to have choice :) And it is called macrumors after all, so one should expect some bias. But personally, I don't hate android at all. I'd like to give it and WP7 a go sometime to see how they compare to iOS

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

The true test of apple versus android will be Verizon 3Q 2012 results. How well does the iPhone sell when a new version is on the horizon?

Isn't that where the LEAST accurate data will come from? I think sales in the quarter following the launch quarter are a more fair test.

I brought it up because other people brought it up because they thought it meant something else. like this person:

Apps that carriers put on their phones as part of some kind of advertising/marketing deal with third party companies is bloatware. You can't uninstall it, and it uses resources on your phone. Amazon MP3, Blockbuster video, Riptide Demos or whatever other game demos they have are bloatware.

Stock apps that are shipped with the OS is not bloatware. I didn't think it meant something else, you did.

I was talking global marketshare. The 47% was some number I thought I had read, it's actually 52% the last time someone reported on it, I believe...(feel free to correct me as I may be wrong)
