Why "can't" they?Too bad they can’t use the iPhone 13 Mini as the basis for the next SE. Put the A16/A17 in it, upgraded cameras, keep it under $500.

Historically, Apple has never been the first with new technology. Samsung will have a flux capacitor first, and it will take Apple 3-4 years to introduce it because "they want to get it right".The new iPhone SE will have a flux capacitor.
Well they could of course, but they won’t. I feel the design and price point I proposed would make a great seller. Why "can't" they?
I think the 13 mini form will more likely be used for the following SE cycle rather than this next one coming.
For the record I think 13 mini is peak iPhone…
Why "can't" they?
Oh they will.As long as they don’t do what they did with the iPad 10th gen, offering a new design at an higher cost. Most people in the market for an SE probably don’t care about design change, they probably care more about the price.
Also, as much as I like myself an all screen design, isn’t the TouchID button part of the appeal for the SE? Some people don’t want to get away from this button, or just prefer touchID as the authentification method. I feel like it would be a mistake to remove it given the purpose of this product
6 months after the main iPhone. So it’s not exactly new. Thus, same old. Besides, with iPhone 14 using the actual old chip, this new SE will definitely use an old chip and not the chip in the pro phone.Same old chip? Usually the SE takes an old body design, but sticks a new chip in it.
So far the iPhone SE has taken an older chassis and upgraded it and added the latest chip, unlike the base iPad with its downgrades and removed features. This would imply Face ID. Apple isn't going to make home button phones forever. As long as they don’t do what they did with the iPad 10th gen, offering a new design at an higher cost. Useless unless you can get up to 88mph and reach the intersection the instant the lightning strikes the clock tower. The new iPhone SE will have a flux capacitor.
I love the Mini form factor as well.

The 13 mini form factor with an LCD screen and single rear camera would be a pretty sweet combination of size and performance, designed to a price point.I think the chances for a Mini-based SE trend toward zero if the Mini graduates to a 6” screen as forecasted. The reason is, such a large decrease in screen size presents a challenging market positioning, even with the better screen tech. And, given historic sales numbers, it isn’t likely the Mini components offer better economies of scale anyway.

A good indicator of when an OLED-based SE can reach the market is when any legacy OLED iPhone becomes available at $499. Apple eliminated that pricing slot when the LCD-based 11 bowed out in September. I would not expect its return next year, either.
Another possibility - the SE price slowly creeps up over the next few years (while OLED simultaneously trend down) , opening up enough margin for a change to the better screen tech.
The mythical SE4 is just around the corner like nuclear fusion and the apple car
I would consider it with Touch in some form and a bigger screenNo one is buying the 14 - why would this be so in demand?
They are constantly cursed by the Halfway Paradox. AirPower is in there tooIt’s almost here, and always will be 😂
I wonder if this is happening and is why they are upping service prices so much. You're right, the enthusiasts will buy it sure. But if someone decides to keep their phone 2 years instead of 1, or 4 years instead of 3 then Apple loses out. Higher prices along with product maturity and "boring" standard models could slowly push people away from frequent upgrades. In the end the more appealing the overall lineup is the more customers they will end up with.
I would be first with my $$$ if they did 8+ with Touch on PowerCommon Apple!!! Just give us the iPhone 8 plus screen without the huge bezels and put touch id on the side that’s it!!!!! That’s what regular people want!
It would be a plus if we got a decent camera and usb c at it
Maybe they will sell iPlutonium and iRocketSkates for $1MUseless unless you can get up to 88mph and reach the intersection the instant the lightning strikes the clock tower.
I think a better, more sustainable, business case would be to keep the Mini essentially how it is today including the $599 price, and give it biannual (or even less often, sometimes) updates. It would get updated processors and modems, USB-C, eventually Dynamic Island (or under screen FaceID, once the flagship line has had it for a year or more), 120Hz screen, upgraded cameras, etc. but otherwise stay as it is today. This would position it much like the iPad Mini - priced at a premium over the larger-screened bottom rung device for those who prioritize diminutive size. The 13 mini form factor with an LCD screen and single rear camera would be a pretty sweet combination of size and performance, designed to a price point.
