I guess I'll keep keeping an eye out for them and see if any show back up but it is more than a bit frustrating so far.

I seriously doubt that.

Apple has plenty of data that tells them what the demand is for a small form factor phone and how much money they can make off of it and whether it's worth an investment. They likely have the data for both a new device (reduced bezels) in that form factor and updated internals in the current SE chassis.

I think the big trouble with small form factor phones is that it becomes hard to market it as a premier/expensive device. Otherwise we'd see a Google Pixel in a small form factor as well.

And things are further complicated given that if we want to have good quality components -- speakers, cameras, microphones, etc. -- it actually costs more to make them smaller. Think about the compromises made with the 12" MB. Yet when it comes to pricing, people expect to pay in proportion to screen size. There may be a few customers here or there that will pay a premium for a small phone, but by and large, if you offer two screen sizes at the same price, nearly everyone is going to pick the larger one.

The premium/expensive device hasn't been working so well for Apple recently.

Anyway, I think there's a bigger challenge - the form factor is too small for a battery that will have acceptable life running a faster processor and higher res screen like in the Xr/Xs.

iOS 9 SE is the best phone experience. Insanely good battery life too.
Too bad the bigger storage options became available when iOS 10 was released.

I've not said anything about its popularity so don't throw a red herring in there. All I've done is ridicule your logic in comparing a non flagship phone that was a few years old and discontinued last year with brand new flagship models.
Ridicule all you want. There are people here who literally think it was and would be Apple’s most popular phone.

And your point is?
People that love them still love them.
It still supports the latest OS. What is the issue?
It’s too small unless you have baby hands.

Why do you gotta quote me? There is no issue other than it is out dated? What is YOUR point?

I must have gotten the last 32GB for pickup at the Aspen Grove store in metro Denver, ordered around 10:15pm MST. Went back to site a few minutes later to check on 128GB availability and the site no longer had the iPhone selection. Whew!

What iOS will it come with? After reviewing tech specs it looks like I will be able to sync with iTunes 12.6.2 on my Sierra MacBook Air, like I do with my iOS 10.3.3 devices.

Was issued a SE for work. Horrible phone, so small it’s like a little toy.
I think there is a very loud minority that loves the phone, but I think the market has moved on to larger devices. I sure have.

Tim Cook is a fool for abandoning the small form factor iPhone, there is clearly a sizeable demand for it.
There is a loud minority clamoring for it on Mac Rumors and in the tech press. I would not go much further than that.

Apple doesn't want to make smaller phones because the profit margins are much higher on larger phones. It took a while for Apple to get on the large phone bandwagon, but once Tim and his accountants looked at the numbers, they were all in.

Apple is large enough to make three sizes to cover all users' likes, small, medium, large, all with the latest specs and released at the same time.

They're testing the waters. If the clearance models keep selling they'll see there's still a market for them. Potentially bring it back.
My mom’s 5s still works fine, but I figure by next year we’ll have to replace it when iOS support stops. She would like a different design, maybe a smaller Xr with a 4.7” display. That should be the SE 2 or Xse. I would prefer that to what is essentially a two-year reprieve in a 7-year-old body, expecting iOS support to end with iOS 14 and perhaps sluggish performance on iOS 13/14.

Okay. I would get the iPhone 6s if that is available and want the size - the shell itself is an upgrade in strength, plus newer internals.

Definitely, I wouldn't touch the 6. I still consider it one of the worst phones, due to the 1GB of ram and the A8 barely being an upgrade over the A7. Would take the SE or 6S over it in a heartbeat.

Sign this petition and share it to get enough traction

I don’t forsee a petition of ‘500 users’ drawing a reaction from Apple, think about it for a minute, Apple is going to manufacture a device that will generate revenue, iPhone SE obviously did not, which is likely one of the reasons they discontinued it. If you really want to prove your point, a petition is not the answer in this situation, what is, is by voting with your wallet by _not_ supporting their larger devices for whatever reason that might be.

If everybody thinks like you and doesn't sign then you're probably right.

Yeah. It’s a nice budget phone.

I am being pedantic here, but there is _nothing_ budget about the SE or any of Apples products. The SE was an entry-level device with a cheaper price point. In terms of the hardware that was used on the SE, it still was a really solid phone with the build and construction.
