Guys, when I bought the 6 almost 2 years ago, I did not think that I will ever hold a perfect phone from Apple again in my life. This design is a thing of beauty, it's just perfect. I am again in love.
So so BEAUTIFUL...
Most beautiful piece of technology ever released.

Lol
I like the matte chamfered edges. Camera is awesome and it all feels just as fast as my 6S (that I sold).

Only disappointment is the screen tint up top and a little round the edges.

This phone with an edge to edge amoled screen would be the perfect phone ever.

APPLE LISTEN TO ME

I agree, I always thought the iPhone 4 was a beautiful design and then I saw the 5 and I wanted it right away. I like my 6 Plus but it's design reminds me of so many Android phones, it feels just like the HTC One S that I had before I got an iPhone. I have had several larger Android phones (including the dreaded HTC HD2 with Windows Mobile, worst phone I have ever had!) and I switched to the 5S and I thought I loved it just because it was iOS. After having a large iOS device for a while I realized I liked it most because it was the perfect size for me.

Glad to be going back soon!

No Space Grey 64GB SEs in stock in the Brighton store. I've ordered online for in-store pickup. I am disappoint, was really hoping they wouldn't be this popular!

Had a go on one in-store though, felt super snappy and the 5 series body design remains beautiful - I prefer it to the 6 series... but the 4 series is probably still my favourite!

Thanks for that Envirofone link, they seem to offer a very good price compared to other places.

Top service from John Lewis, very impressed. And very impressed with the phone too, its strange seeing it next to a 6 after kind of getting used to the larger screen, but I have to say its so nice having a smaller (non-slippery) phone that I can use with one hand with ease again! Nice camera upgrade too.

Would anyone recommend ordering the SE through carphone warehouse? Any downsides to ordering through them as opposed to Apple as they apparently have stock?

Ah cool. I seem to remember an issue last year with the phones locking to the first SIM provider that was inserted.

Isn't that what happens to the phones you'd get through Carphone Warehouse and the other phone stores? They have a stock of iPhone that they sell contract with for any network and the phone locks to the first sim put in?

I vaguely recall John Lewis locking iPhone to the first network SIM being inserted when iPhone 6 launched.

Carphone Warehouse (or their third party sites such as mobiles.co.uk) will automatically lock to the first inserted SIM.

But Apple purchased units don't auto lock to first inserted SIM network?

No. It's the only place to get a truly UNLOCKED iPhone

All the other retailers like Carphone warehouse, John Lewis, Argos, Three, Vodafone, O2, EE etc sim free phones will lock into the first sim inserted

Thanks for the reply - I'll wait for the Apple order to come through in that case!

Just tested this with the iPhone SE i bought from John Lewis today and its not the case. It doesn't lock to the first sim card you put in it.

Plus, a retailer can't sell a phone as being unlocked only for it to become locked when you put a sim card in.

Shouldn't be a problem for those on the Three network. I believe they unlock any phone for free.

Yes they can and they do.

Please provide a video if you can as it has been discussed before that buying from John Lewis will lock into the first sim inserted. Here's the thread - https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...carphone-if-you-want-unlocked-iphone.1920425/

PS: I think some ppl are saying it will lock and some it won't lock.

I bought an iPhone 6 from Argos, sim-free and it locked to my network there after

No. That is wrong.
The John Lewis iPhones are 100% unlocked.
I have used a JL iPhone 6s and now a SE.

Unlocked.

The confusion started last year when John Lewis' website had fine print saying it locks to first sim… They subsequently took that off.

Carphone stock are not unlocked...

Sorry did not mean they were unlocked, I meant they are not network specific, meaning you could grab any iPhone from their stock room and put any sim in it and it would lock to the network of that first sim

Yes, this is what happens from Carphone...

If you read the thread you linked to you will see that it is a non issue with John Lewis.

Beware though that Argos, CarPhoneWarehouse etc do lock to first sim..

Ok, I actually thought that all the retailers except Apple are selling iPhone's that lock to the first sim inserted.

So that's Apple and John Lewis who sell truly unlocked iPhone's. Thank you for your info, I might consider John Lewis in the future as well

No problem.

There is also another reseller to consider — GiffGaff.
They sell 100% unlocked - network agnostic - phones as well. They also offer monthly credit plans… and free next day delivery. Their stock of 64GB phones are sold out it seems.

These little SE iPhones are selling like the proverbial hotcakes it seems.

Disclaimer! I have nothing to do with either John Lewis or GiffGaff, just keeping my eyes peeled for good deals. :D
