Apple should have a four inch iPhone that is at least as thin as the thinnest iPhone 6/6s/7.

If you think SE is close to perfection, you are very misguided. ;-)

When you drop SE and all iPhones for that matter they break. Ceramic isn't hipster. Ceramic glass is actually used in iPhone 4/4s and parts of 5/5s/SE.

iPhone 6/6s/7 are too big. SE is a complete rehash of the past. iPhone 8 needs to come in three sizes: 4 inch, 4.7, and 5.5.

Get some consistency back in to that damn awful iPhone line up Apple is trying to sell but in reality is losing sales.
So something as subjective as liking the SE or having the thought it is close to perfection means that your misguided?o_O

I have no doubt that Apple has already manufactured squillions of SE's to last for 3 years, they'll maybe drop the price a bit after the first two.

Apple's too busy making dongles. They don't have the time to update SE.

Apple will not refresh the iPhone SE in the first half of 2017, according to KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The lack of refresh comes as Apple attempts to maintain high margins on its high-end iPhone models, Kuo said in a new research note.

...

Apple introduced the iPhone SE in March 2016, packing in many of the iPhone 6s' features and component into a 4-inch frame similar to that of the iPhone 5s. It's unclear what kind of upgrade schedule Apple will adopt for the device, but it's internals are powerful enough to remain a capable phone for a couple of years.

That's because the SE was a 5S with a new CPU. Chances are the PCB was identical enough that it was a cheap retooling, considering that all the other parts are identical to the 5S or the 6S.

It's likely that the "loss of the 3.5mm headphone jack", the W1 chip, and so forth require substantial changes to the PCB thus swapping the CPU and doing nothing else isn't possible.

Also take note that the Capacity (16GB and 64GB) aren't available on the 7 (32GB, 128GB, 256GB)

Heh, that's the thing with Apple products, they just "keep going and going" without getting upgrades. In turn, their profit margins "keep going and going" higher and higher.

Shhhhh, You've exposed Tim Cook's secret to keep the company growing! Once the bubble bursts, and it will at this rate, it will all be clear to everyone.

I think they'll never release Iphone SE at the same time as the flagship models because of it thickness and therefore superior battery.

I'm so sick of Apple's new "we want you to buy said device so we're going to make it the only option" policy. They've been doing this a lot lately. Just give us the products we want, dang it!

It's really an easy decision without complaining about it.....then don't buy it. There are other options and no one is forcing you.

Of course pushing low resolution pixels around doesn't exactly take much power now does it..

What does "low resolution pixels" even mean?
The SE has the same density as the iPhone 7 I.e. 326ppi
Obviously with a smaller screen there are less pixels to manage, but that is exactly the point made by the post you responded to.

Same success as the 5C. Drop features and still charge a premium. The SE could be interesting with 3Dtouch maybe. Design wise it's very nice and the SoC is screaming with that little screen but I wish they did a lineup with three sizes and the same design and features sans the cameras of the Plus.

U quoted the screen resolution as if it's something special, it's not even baby hd 720p, not exactly taxing the processors now is it....

Please don't use the iPhone 7 as some hi tech device, far from it..

there's not really alot of competition at that size. the SE is most likely still the fastest phone in it's class.

but still a bummer.

If the iPhone 8 is bezel free as rumoured, the 4.7" iPhone 8 will be about the same size as the 4" iPhone SE. No need to keep it around.

You mean these ugly completely bezel-free mockups going around letting the iPhone look like a fish or something?
I pray to god this will never happen!

this is actually good news. It means they won't issue an IOS update that will gimp earlier iPhones for another few years.

If the iphone 7 isn't high tech, there is no high tech mobile cellular phone device out there. Certainly no android device or windows device then by that bench mark.

Right ... cause phablets are the future?

I don't know. But if smartphones are to be a pocket computers for apps and all sorts of things, miniature 4" display is not gonna cut it for most people. I don't use phablet but I can see a lot of them being used. Sometime I think I see more phablet being used then 4.7". People want one pocket device that does almost everything. And small screens just don't seem right for that purpose.

I dont know why, but when I went from a white 5 to a space-gray SE, it felt like a completely new phone to me. Somehow the space-gray variant is extremely aesthetically pleasing.

Somehow that device just works for me. I'm just going to keep attention to iOS updates not slowing down the phone in the future and stop updating once they do. (According to reviews)

No brainier here. Iphone SE refresh 2-3 years cycle. To keep cost down, build on trickle down hardware spec from it's larger sibling. Those needing smaller iPhone will appreciate every few year upgrade long as price is low.
