I can not see Apple a Leader in Technology making a CDMA iPhone for it only to be used on CDMA for a year or two then it will not be ready or able to work on LTE, seems like someone is talking out their butt hole.

If they ever made one, I am sure it would have to work on future networks and GSM, I can not see them leaving this feature out, LTE is around the corner and who know how it will even work, personally I do not think you will see that many improvements only because all Cell providers are pushing people towards monthly data plans and smartphones thus pushing data usage up even higher.

Or perhaps you are the one discussing a subject you know nothing about. The CDMA technology necessary will still be required for LTE. So making a CDMA phone now, and just changing the chip for one that supports LTE + CDMA later would make total sense.

Oh...ever hear of a little thing called the iPhone. You know....the phone that only sold for one year and only had Edge?

WOW! I just heard that Cricket and metro PCS are getting the iPhone also. I heard it from the UPS guy who heard it from someone on the subway who has a aunt who works in cupertino who heard it from a mosquito

Well say what you want, but God told me it's true, or was it my doG told me after six scotches last night I'm confused, still (and sometimes dyslexic)

I thought it was gonna be 5.5" screen LOL :D

The 5.5" is only for the Holographic Screen Model.
Steve's Barista's brother's friend told their neighbor's dog whose groomer told me that Steve told...oh never mind...:D
This whole thing has gotten more insane than usual. I hope the iPhone DOES come out on Verizon so we can stop having conversations about Verizon's iPhone and start talking about when Sprint and every other carrier worldwide will get it!:p It's all part of Apple's secret plan to conquer the world...And now you can say that you read it here first!

verizon iphone- what should we believe?

So with all the rumors of a verizon iphone coming soon, what should we really believe? I know the 10 million CDMA unit order at pegatron, new ad campaign by verizon, increased etf's at at&t, wsj article, and voice over Rev. A each seem to point to the possibility of a verizon iphone, but do all of them together actually make the possibility more realistic or will the verizon iphone always be something that is just beyond the horizon and will never come to fruition.

I am asking because I keep getting frustrated year after year when the iphone comes out with no verizon option. I am a loyal vzw customer imply because of the call quality and amazing 3G map, but I am getting closer and closer to just caving and switching to inferior service just to get the iphone.

How do you know you’ll have inferior service on AT&T? By some of the posts on here? Seriously, many people have no problems with AT&T. See how it is for you at your location before judging it. You have 30 days to cancel.

Anyway, the answer is the same as in all the other threads. We don’t know, but it is highly doubtful you’ll see a VZW phone until 2012, if that.

You know what, I have been one of the biggest iPhone on Verizon doubters for a very long time now. I base my doubt mainly on the vastly different corporate cultures and big egos involved (between Jobs and Seidenberg how can there ever be an agreement?). The flood of recent rumors you mentioned haven't convinced me either, its just a rehash of the same BS rumors that were out there a few months ago and even a year ago.

But there is one thing that has me doubting myself recently. I ask myself, with Verizon now positioning itself to become THE android carrier, and with the HTC incredible just recently released as a flagship device, I wonder why verizon hasn't shot down the rumors of an iphone on verizon. With people believing its coming that has to be hurting their android phone sales in the short term, so if it really was untrue they would come out and publicly say the rumors are false, or even just hedge it and say 'not in the near term', etc.. The fact that they are dead silent on the issue has be questioning everything and Im starting to believe it might just come out on Verizon soon...

Anyone who uses Verizon as their carrier (Im one) can attest to the fact that AT/T is far behind Verizon as far as quality of service, depth of coverage and quality of coverage is concerned. Dont take it personally, Verizon is just objectively better at giving its phones solid voice/data signal at almost all times. Thats the only reason people are clamoring for a Verizon iphone. Notice you dont hear anyone really begging for a Tmobile iPhone or Sprint iPhone

What should we believe? I dunno, but what I CAN'T believe is that you started yet ANOTHER VERIZON THREAD!?!?!?!?

Interesting, I've been wondering the same thing and came to a different conclusion. The hope of an iPhone keeps the iPhone hopefull Verizon customers around. Keeps them from jumping to AT&T.

However, if there is no iPhone ever going to Verizon, why wouldn't Apple say so? They have EVERY motivation I can think of to be forthcoming on the subject. If they never plan to have a Verizon phone and they announced this, all the iPhone hopefulls still on Verizon would jump ship and buy up more iPhones.

So in my mind, Apple's silence means that they are at least entertaining it. They haven't slammed the door shut. Doesn't mean it's happening @ WWDC though.

Edit: Can't believe I'm contributing to this lame duplicate thread....but I'm like a moth to a flame I guess....

The simple fact is that you can only speak for yourself. You should acknowledge that fact instead of asserting that your experiences hold true for everyone else. Where I live, in Los Angeles, I've had a far better experience with ATT in terms of data speed and have not experienced dropped calls.

Is Verizon changing their network to GSM? I don't believe voice and data simultaneously is possible with CDMA.

Please go read one of the recent threads on this. But here's the quickie answer

1) NO, of course NOT
2) There are some technologies such as SV-DO they could easily implement that do
3) There is a recent report that they are working on rolling out VoRA that will
4) Believe it or not, not everyone requires simultaneous voice & data

Ummmm Steve Jobs does and that is the most important thing when it comes to iPhone on big red.
As far as all the egomaniacs that believe they know what's best for all cell phone users (and that's verizon to them) go suck an egg! My service with at&t is top notch. Plus I like being able to surf and talk as I do it a lot. I also like being able to surf with superior 3g speeds over Verizon.

Irregardless of AT&T being the favorite whipping boy for iPhone fans. My service has been excellent. True verizon has a larger 3g coverage map but for my location it's no better then at&t. Also I noticed their plans tend to be a bit more expensive

Very well said.
I dont care what any VZ commercial says.
You wont know how it is in your area untill you try it or ask people that use AT&T.

Yes--I agree, please don't generalize about AT&T. I always have 3G service and seldom have dropped calls--it is just not possible to generalize service like so many try to do.

I feel compelled to give my two cents. I was a long time Verizon customer. I left when the iPhone 3G came out. I live in the Los Angeles area. I have to say, without a doubt, that my Verizon call quality and coverage was far superior to what I have experienced with AT&T. I will admit that AT&T has improved over the last two years. I have no complaints about the data service. I have experienced an incredibly high percentage of "dropped calls" however. I don't know if it's the phone or the carrier, but it sucks. Fortunately for me, I don't depend highly on the voice service, but rather, enjoy the data service. I for one would go back to Verizon in a heart beat if the iPhone was available. I just wonder if two hyper-controlling companies like Apple and Verizon could ever co-exist. If it doesn't happen, then I will most likely re-up with AT&T when the new iPhone comes out.

I'm not believing any rumor until it is confirmed by Apple. Anything else is just pure speculation.

Yes, thank you Captain Obvious for your brilliant insight.

As for the OP, I highly doubt there will be one this year. I think people would have noticed some change in the firmware even hinting to the possibility of CDMA or even some other more stable rumors. 2012 seems like a fair bet however.

Talk to Steve Jobs on a regular basis do you? Can you show me a quote ANYWHERE where he said he required simultaneous voice & data? The marketing department simply found every possible advantage they could find for AT&T over Verizon and ran with it. It's that simple. And just becuase YOU require doesn't mean that I do.

And just because I'm requesting a phone I'm heavily invested in to be on a carrier that works better for me doesn't mean that I'm asking for Apple to stop carrying it with AT&T. AT&T works for you, then you should continue using AT&T. I'm not suggesting otherwise I'm not even bashing AT&T. So what's your issue?? Why are you being such a jerk?
