The thing is, you see what you wish to see. In this case you only see his points are ignore the other facts.

This is going to end up like last year, Verizon fanboys crying all over the place again and asking when is Verizon getting it.

Contract check, it runs all the way to 2012 and if I am not mistaken, this is 2010. Moreover, the rumors that Verizon will be getting the iPhone have been on from many reliable sources ever since Sept 2007. So, as you see, all those reliable sources end up getting the report wrong.

Nothing will change this year but an already known iPhone model. The sweet taste of Verizon fanboy tears is refreshing.

I am curious which part of my post was shown to be contrary to however the factory contracts might work.

Obviously if Apple puts down on paper for 10 million CDMA phones targeting Verizon, Apple must believe it to be a possibility. I was challenging the underlying belief that Apple would be that naive.

Edit: Oh I see it now, it's probably this line:
There has to be a confusion of sort, maybe the article is referring to the "total" amount of iPhones in production including both GSM and CDMA version.

Anyhow, my conclusion was that I doubt Apple is naive to think it can add 10 million new customers in a year on Verizon for a mature product.

An assumption on your part. However, I have said many times that I'm not convinced and even doubt it will happen this year. So I won't be crying.

Contracts change. I don't know if this one has, but saying there was a contract until 2012 is not concrete evidence of a Verizon iPhone not happening before then.

Agreed, and this is why I'm not convinced by any of the rumors. It will happen eventually; but I've never said it will definately be this year.

This could include that carrier in China they were in talks with as well. And I'll concede that this order may be only for the Chinese carrier.

Truth is, nobody on this board knows for sure.

I am not impressed in the least bit. We will know all there is to know by the second week in June. Why get your nickers in a bunch about something we don't know anyway.;)

There's a strong possibility that if a Verizon iPhone is coming later in the year or next summer, we won't hear anything this June. I won't be getting my hopes up this June 7th.

Sprint and Verizon have a nasty policy of not allowing ESNs from other carriers on their system. BUT, if Verizon really wants iPhone customers, perhaps they would allow it. Doubtful, but anything is possible.

No need for me to eat crow. I've already been defeated by the many failed rumors in the past. I hold no illusions that it's definitely happening this year. I am stating nothing for sure except that Verizon will get it SOMEDAY. But I also am not so quick to dismiss every rumor without careful consideration as some of you tend to do.

But Louisana?! It takes a lot to get me to Frisco, let alone Houston...but Louisiana? You'll have to REALLY get on my bad side. :p OH....wait...you're an Aggie...that's a good start! :D

Seriously, I think you'll all be eating crow one day. Unless you conceded that it might happen in 2012 and it actually takes that long. But man I hope it doesn't. What would be even worse is if they do get a Verizon iPhone, but they gimp it somehow. Then I just might start crying. :(

What people don't understand is evin if they do make a cmda iPhone it doesn't mean it is going to be on verizon. Apple and any company that wants it has to sit down and negotiate. Like I remember with the first iPhone one problem with the iPhone going to verizon was the selling of music on the phone v-cast or iTunes. So as u see a lot of stuff fall into place not just the fact that I

Let's see...I said earlier in this thread it could be for a Chinese carrier...so have others....so who exactly doesn't understand?

Yes, but other phones have been released since then and Verizon has let up on it's choke-hold. In today's market it's a bit more likely that Verizon will allow it. They no longer lock down smartphones (Droid.)
 
What's with the phone carrier hate? As Apple fans, shouldn't we want the iPhone to be available to as many as people as possible? Or will we not feel special anymore because it's no longer on just ATT? Gimme a break.
 
I think by now people need to realize that Apple has no plans to expand beyond AT&T... Not this year... Not next year... Probably never.

If you value carrier choice then the answer is simple. Android.
