I was also told that it had to be a credit card and not a debit card. Which is strange, considering I can use my debit card as a credit card in many places.

That's what I was thinking, I can use the card I have as credit or debit, credit gives me rewards points.

I'm going to try to get an Apple Upgrade Program appointment. If I can't get approved going to place an order at full price as a backup.

Does anyone know when the appointments would be? During the 2 weeks before the 25th or on the 25th and after?

I wish this would have been better documented before the pre-order.

I am not sure if anyone has experience with previous preorder sessions, but how does one go about ordering two phones linked to the same account through the Apple website? Would this be the same process for the Apple iPhone Update program? It would be great to be free of the carrier associated silliness. I was then considering ordering two phones, one for myself and my partner, pay with my credit info and then pick them up in the store? Would both parties need to be there in the store or could one activate them at home?
Thanks in advance...

click the qty to 2?

On the one hand, it would help ease the process if they had people come in between now and the release date of the phone to do the approval and purchase. That way, you could just go to the regular reservation line and pick up your phone with the other pick-ups, no extra waiting on launch day/week.

On the other hand, it would be annoying for customers to have to make an extra trip to the store, first for the appointment, then for pickup. Personally, I'd rather go with the first option, the launch period is insane at Apple Stores and I'd rather be in and out with as little fuss as possible when the phone is actually ready.

that would certainly be simple solution, however not if we were are different models? I was just wondering as I had encountered strange redirects on the Apple Site when attempting to order multiple items...

Thanks, for the info.

Does it have to be a "credit card" or will a Debit card work as well?

I forgot to ask. I also asked her if a person does not get approved, can he/she go with the carrier using the carrier upgrade plan and the phone will still be "on hold". She did not know the answer.

I think It will not be possible because when Apple "hold" a phone for you using Upgrade program that phone will be unlocked.

Also, (this I am not sure if this is correct)...

She ask me about my current carrier. I mentioned AT&T, no contract, no A&T Next. She said "perfect" because you need to have a carrier. This does not make sense to me. What about those who want to start for the first time with a carrier but want to get the device first and then go the carrier they like the most?

Can i use my current gophone plan with iPhone 6s bought on iPhone upgrade program?

I got the same question, I have the $30 t-mobile plan and another t-mo pay as you go plan. I hoping this upgrade program with let me use ether sim card to activated the iPhone. I don't want to pay $50-100 for another plan. I can't imagine why it shouldn't work.

The phone is unlocked, so yes, but you have to activate it on one of the 4 major carriers, most likely with a postpaid plan, not prepaid.

Why would Apple care if it's a Prepaid or Postpaid line? Apple isn't selling me the service. As long as it's the Big four carriers.

T-mobiles cheapest Post-paid plan is $55(taxes+fees) with the T-Mo $30 Prepaid plan I'm saving $600+ over the 24 months.

yeah that is what i want to know. i dont want to pay more money for the plan!

Oh it's one of those pre-paid phones from AT&T? I don't think the sim card will fit because Apple uses a nano sim card. Just call up apple and ask though to be sure.

i am using it in my 5s. its not a phone its just a prepaid plan.

You could probably buy the phone outright and finance it? Then just swap sim cards. Just choose AT&T as your carrier.

You know what, try the upgrade program, choose AT&T as the carrier, and see if that works. If you want. Be mindful you have to go to the apple store and pick it up.

I think you have options actually.

Maybe I'm wrong, we'll see!

What do you mean that you could buy it outright and finance it? I was planning to finance it via apple and then use the current sim plan on it. i think i need to visit apple tomorrow and inquire about it.

I'm in the same boat. The $30 a month T-mobile plan. I have an iPhone 5s that I own outright. I plan on jumping on the upgrade program. The iPhone 5s has a nano sim, just like the 6s needs. between everything I've read on here and on Reddit it seems pretty clear Apple doesn't care about your service provider as long as you are on one of the big four, which technically you and I both are... So at checkout in a few hours I think it should work fine... I sure hope so anyway.

yeah. thanks for the help man. i think i should reserve one online and try going in the store tomorrow and inquiring about it. thanks

No, you don't. The phone is unlocked and you can activate it with any compatible carrier you want to.

No, according to the website, you have to activate with Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, or Sprint. You can't activate with Cricket or MetroPCS or any other MVNO.
