Not smooth at all if the item you wanted was sold out in seconds so you can't use the upgrade program now.
Sorry. :( Which model were you after and where do you live? I have three Apple stores within a 30 mile radius, so maybe that helps?

Duh I just realized that I would have to stand in line during launch day 2016 to upgrade again using this program. Ugh that bites.

Why? You'd have a reservation just like this year, unless they change the process.

I did the normal store reservation for a full price T-Mobile iPhone before I saw the one for reserving it for the upgrade program. I'm assuming that it's the same exact phone and that I can just choose the upgrade program in the store, but I'm a bit worried. I tried to make another reservation using the Upgrade Program link, but even though it tells that there are phones available at the store I select, when I go to confirm the reservation, it errors out with a "Due to high demand, reservations for this model are no longer available at the store you selected." message. No matter what store I select it does this, even though they all show that the phone is available for early pickup on 9/25. I just hope in not hosed.

Same thing happen to me I just did another reservation, using the correct link. Same pickup time same apple store.

So even though I was planning on skipping the 6S Plus, since I have the 6 Plus, but I decided against it and decided to check it out by using the iPhone Upgrade program. So some clarifications I need is that on the page it states that it will be unlocked regardless which carrier you choose correct? So I was able to reserve a T-mobile one using the iPhone upgrade program but I can use my AT&T correct?

Just curious. When I reserved my phone I entered my Apple ID and than the reservation was confirmed. When I reserved my wife's phone I had to send a text with a validation code to apple. I than received back a confirm # that I had to enter before the reservation was confirmed. Anyone else go through this?

My only thoughts were that she reserved under a pole if that hadn't been used in a while and I changed the password on it a few minutes before reserving.

This is correct. It should work fine. I did read, however, that AT&T has a different model that allows it to get a new band of LTE that AT&T is rolling out, so the unlocked phones won't be able to take advantage of that. Rudimentary still, I believe.

I need the same. 2 phones per order. Couldn't cancel it. Changed name in my sons apple account and ordered 2 more there just 30 minutes earlier. I hope it works, going to call Apple in the begining next week to confirm.

May be you have 2-step verification? I also got messages after I chose the store.

So I assume that I wouldn't have the band 30? Would this be the LTE-A? So the model number would be different as well since I looked it up at www.apple.com/iphone/lte. I don't think it's a big dealbreak if I don't have LTE-A

Does anyone know what classifies as a Utility bill? My Drivers License still has my old address on it (even though I changed my address with the DMV, they don't reissue a new document) and all the bills are in my wife's name. The only bill I could provide with my current address is a credit card statement. Would this be enough?

When I reserved mine, the  Upgrade Program wasn't available as an option at all so I went through and reserved for full price. Now I just called  and asked if I can change it when I go to the store, they're telling me no, that I have to go a store today and ask them to cancel that appointment and create another one for me. Only problem with that is the available appointments are on the later side of the day now which I can't make.

So I guess I'll just take a chance and go there and see if they can change my purchase from full price to the  Upgrade Program. I have their Barclay's Credit Card anyway so I'll be interest-free for 2 years for a full price purchase of an iPhone.

NO TAX (after the first installment). That's what I found out just now.

So I was checking out the pre order thing and FYI, I want SIM-free unlocked version myself. Obviously that's not available right now, probably not for at least until November and possibly early January.

Apple upgrade program didn't make sense at all before since for 64gb 6s
a) can get $350-450 by selling and have that towards iphone 7 purchase (i.e. $300-400 wasted) vs at least $439 wasted ($36.58 x 12)
b) don't want apple care
c) 24 installments is more $$ than pay in full

However with this new information, here are the pros:
a) in my case, paying full: $749+7% NJ tax = $801.43 vs $877.92 (36.58 x24) + $2.56 (tax on first installment) = $880.48
b) more or less SIM free unlocked after one month. Meaning you can drop the voice/data plan, no matter what carrier you choose, and just not have any for a period of time should you choose. Especially if the rumor of A1633 having CDMA radio like GSM iphone 6 does come out to be true, I don't have to wait months.

So even if one pays full, I heard that it's still tied down to a carrier, so one has to call the carrier and try to unlock after minimum 1 month. In other words, it's not simple as just taking out the SIM card yourself and putting a new one. But with the Apple's upgrade program, it is like that after one month.
(EDIT: actually with T mobile, it may be the same)

Still not thrilled about paying extra $80 and possibly losing another $100 (if later decide to get iphone 7 next year), but at least the difference is small enough (and not having to wait for months) that it makes sense now.

How do you know for sure if you preordered for the upgrade program or full price? Because my confirmation email lists the 849.99 as the price but also has a FAQ section in the email that goes over some upgrade program information.

BTW, it seems like almost all rose gold color options except for 16GB seem to be sold out for now for the upgrade program (at least in NYC area).

So either it is extremely limited early since it's a new color or it's freaking popular. So it being pink is not holding it back at all.

I have the same email too. Hopefully the  Rep on the phone is wrong and I can just change my reserved phone from full price to the upgrade program when I get there.

I accidentally reserved an iPhone Upgrade Program phone with the wrong carrier selected. I'm hoping for one of these cases when I arrive at the store on the 25th:

  1. They have a large stock on hand and it's first come first served, i.e. they don't have a guaranteed phone held back for each reservation, just a big pool of phones and they grab what you need when you show up. Or,
  2. The phones are truly carrier-independent and unlocked, and the internal radios are the same across all models. But it's strange that they would ask or care what carrier you're planning to use if that's true.
I'll see what happens.

But you do have the option to pay full price when you go to the apple store. But they will give you the option whether you want to pay full or use the iPhone upgrade. But if you use the iPhone upgrade program you will need to have a plan with the carrier. I've chatted with Apple about this and this is what I was told.

Same here, I'm with AT&T but choose the T-Mobile. Since AT&T model has an extra band for LTE-A but doesn't really matter for me. But when I do go there on the 25th, I will ask if they have the AT&T 128 GB 6S Plus and if they do, I'll most likely get that one instead. If not, I'll just wait until it's more readily available and pick one up later instead.

The iphone 6s plus 128gb rose gold. Yes I do need that amount of storage heh.

I just ended up paying full price. At least I get it on the 25th.

I also didn't see the upgrade program tab. I did the pay full price reservation. Surely they can do the upgrade program for me once I get there, right? I don't see why they couldn't, I'm still buying the phone, just using a different format of payment.

Is there any test we can do to see if we'll be approved? I had previously had bad credit but have been getting better the past two years so I think I may be okay. Just don't want to waste my time with the Upgrade Plan if I will not be approved.
