Why not? I "reserved" the full priced tmobile phone but fully expect to be able to switch to apple payment plan

Read this. Does this mean they will let me activate the phone with att go phone SIM card?

i called att the other day and the sales rep said no matter where i purchase it, either through att or apple the upgrade would be applied I'm just confused to why it didn't give me that option
AT&T can give out information that they really don't know is true. I have had it happen to me so many times, a lot of the time they are just guessing or they themselves were given wrong info.

Really no one can tell you for sure if you can or can't. you may just have to go to the store during your appointment and see what they can do. You could always just get a t-mobile account then cancel the service before any charges come up.

i just bought 2 iPhone 6s plus's through apple app, and it didn't give me the option to use my 2 2 year agreements upgrades with the price of 399.... instead it made me select at&t next and the price comes out to 869.. any ideas?? i guess i have to call apple or att

Two year agreement option can be used only through purchasing directly from AT&T

Yeah i just got another idea. Currently I have a 6 plus on next and my wife has att go phone 5s. I am replacing my wife's 5s with 6s plus. So if they let me use the go phone well and good otherwise I will just stick in my SIM card and get the phone and then swap the sims back.

Yea thats a great idea since you already have an AT&T account, just make sure to take her with you if the account is under her name. Good Luck!

I'd put money on a hard pull. This is my least favorite part of the deal, since I like to save my hard pulls for awesome credit card bonus offers for travel, but whatever, I'll live.
I was told by an Apple rep on the phone earlier today that it's a soft hit "for analytics only) and doesn't affect credit ratings. It's likely I'll get my first ever car loan sometime next year (I usually pay cash) so I was slightly concerned.

I hope everyone made their reservation smoothly. The iPhone Upgrade Program Terms & Conditions finally exist now. It looks like it's not the great deal we all thought of it as. The credit card isn't just required to apply for the program, it's required to make the first payment and every installment after that, presumably for perpetuity if you plan to upgrade every year. So the question now is: are you willing to use a credit card for your payments? The loan might be 0% APR, but is your credit card? This is definitely a "gotcha" detail that Apple should have disclosed early on. I'm very disappointed by it.

It looks like to take advantage of this offer, I'd be more comfortable opening a secured credit card account to use to pay for the program, and simply paying it off within the grace period to avoid any interest. It's an unnecessary amount of work to be a part of this program, so I might just end up paying full price during my appointment and sticking with carrier subsidies every other year.

This scares me! I hope this isn't true.

Agreed. The whole upgrade program process was a bit confusing, but worth it as I love the idea of this program.
Yeah it was really confusing. The wording on the website wasn't immediately clear. The keynote was especially vague. Only after talking to a rep on the phone did I realize that this is like the traditional reservation program to pick up in-store and that I would have to drive 120 miles to get it. Still did it anyway because like you said, I love the idea of the program bundled with the AppleCare+ and yearly upgrades, but more than that it seems to be a better deal than I would have gotten from Verizon and I'm off contract and free to test out T-Mobile's new extended range LTE on my 6S. If it's decent that could save me $30-40/mo over what I'm paying now which pays for my whole iPhone every month, lol.

I did the normal store reservation for a full price T-Mobile iPhone before I saw the one for reserving it for the upgrade program. I'm assuming that it's the same exact phone and that I can just choose the upgrade program in the store, but I'm a bit worried. I tried to make another reservation using the Upgrade Program link, but even though it tells that there are phones available at the store I select, when I go to confirm the reservation, it errors out with a "Due to high demand, reservations for this model are no longer available at the store you selected." message. No matter what store I select it does this, even though they all show that the phone is available for early pickup on 9/25. I just hope in not hosed.

The confirmation email indicates that we can trade in an existing iPhone toward the purchase of a new one. I have a two separate reservations—one for full price purchase, and another for the device upgrade program. Both confirmation emails mention the option to trade in.

Thoughts on how trading in would work for the device upgrade program? Would this reduce the length of payments or the monthly payment amount? I'm thinking the former, if they actually allow applying the trade-in credit at all. Alternatively they may offer an Apple Store gift card towards a future purchase.

Suggestions on whether to trade in my iPhone 6 or sell privately?

Mine looks like a regular preorder and says it is shipping to my home. Where is the Apple financing info? Don't you have to go in store to pick its up? There was no option for this.

Can someone help me understand this. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but when it mentions that a credit card is required does that mean a credit card or debit card or does it mean just an actual credit card. Don't really have a credit card

Time to get one.

"1. The iPhone Upgrade Program is available to qualified customers only with a valid U.S. personal credit card."

You paid full price, and are not on the program.

Yes i saw that but most of the time I've seen websites use credit card as a umbrella term for: debit cards, credit cards, prepaid cards etc. So I was wondering if that's the case here, and I could use my debit card like usual. Or do you need an actual credit card?

The update program directs you to the store so that you can be credit approved. This was the only way Apple could deal with the volume and the after hours release today. I was told that if you cannot get credit approval, you will still be able to buy outright.

You paid full price, and are not on the program.
Thanks, this was not an option on my iPhone App this morning. It is available on the web site now so I just reserved one. My closest store is out so I will have to drive 5 miles but.....

Blah, I give up. Every time it tells me that a particular model is available at a certain store at a certain time, I hit Confirm only to get a message that this model isn't available at this store. This has happened now several times with different combinations of stores/model/carrier. I can only assume they're so overwhelmed that the website isn't making any sense. And now I'm going to bed. So should I hope to get one by November at this point?

So the ATT NEXT program is cheaper than 2yr contract? inform me if I'm wrong but:

iPhone 6S+ silver 64GB $42.50 x 20 months is $850

so I can pay the whole balance off in 12 months then sell it on craigslist for $500-$650, so really I only paid $200-$300 for the phone and I can upgrade every year without another 2 yr contract

Need clarification:

Last November my sister switched from an iPhone to a galaxy note 4. This was through AT&T and a 2 yr contract as she was upgrade eligible at the time. She now hates it and wants the new iPhone.

Unfortunately through AT&T she's not eligible for the full subsidy or Next pricing. So, would she be able to purchase an iphone through Apple's upgrade program and use the same SIM card or is she basically screwed and has to pay full price for the iPhone?
