Guess we won't see our reservations under my reservations in the Apple Store app since they mentioned you can't cancel a reservation. My two reservations do not show up. I would love to cancel one of my bad reservations.

Trying to figure out the point of this plan over buying outright other than the fact that you get to pay it off and "upgrade" in a year?

I also didn't see the upgrade program tab. I did the pay full price reservation. Surely they can do the upgrade program for me once I get there, right? I don't see why they couldn't, I'm still buying the phone, just using a different format of payment.
There seems to be quite a few of us in the same boat. I don't think the problem is switching from paying in full to the upgrade program but whether or not it's the same exact model. I ordered T-mobile and am assuming that there's only one model and the only difference is how you finance it.

I clicked on the Verizon model, my reservation specifies it as CDMA. All Verizon models are unlocked anyway, so I'm not worried about that.

You pay off half and upgrade in a year and they absolve you of paying the second half. Now you're paying the financing on next year's phone instead. Rinse and repeat.

Is there any test we can do to see if we'll be approved? I had previously had bad credit but have been getting better the past two years so I think I may be okay. Just don't want to waste my time with the Upgrade Plan if I will not be approved.

Wondering the same thing. I'd like to know if I'm able to get approved before getting to the store and getting denied because I can't pay outright and am not eligible for a carrier upgrade. My credit isn't the greatest, so it'd be nice if there is a way to find out if I'll be denied beforehand. Also wondering if I can have someone with better credit finance the phone for me if my credit isn't good enough.

Meh I'm asking if you can switch to the upgrade plan if you paid in full online. I'm guessing not but doesn't hurt to ask. I'm still in queue for the chat.

I'm anticipating a lot of phones becoming available on launch day. I made four reservations on two Apple accounts because it was so confusing to figure out the upgrade program. I'm only buying one. From the threads, I see that many others also made multiple appointments with intentions of only buying one. So there's still hope for those that couldn't reserve the phone that they wanted!

Just chatted with apple support and you can't change payment method from full price to the upgrade program.

Well, I thought this was encouraging. Evidentally on the email confirmation for those who placed a reservation through the correct "Upgrade Reservation link" it says:

Can I change the iPhone Upgrade Program to a different purchase option?

You can also purchase your iPhone through carrier financing or at full price. Ask a Specialist in store for more information.

If you can switch from the payment plan to paying full price, it seems logical that you can do the opposite. Obviously then it's same exact model of phone either way.

I'm sure this will be at the discretion of the apple employee. Because if it's the same carrier and phone, why would they say no?

Can you call Apple and see if you get the same response that I did?

If Apple really isn't allowing people who chose pay full price to switch, then I may just wait for the 7, when I have carrier upgrades available. Considering that the app wasn't at all clear about how to sign up for the program, I don't see why they would punish customers like that.

You're actually not paying it off, you're paying for half of it - 12 months of the 24 mo term before you can upgrade. If you want to keep the phone, just keep paying the monthly installments. If you want to upgrade, you'd be turning in your phone. You can do one or the other but not both.

I just called Apple. The rep said as long as I made a reservation at a store (I did) and didn't pay in advance and chose store pickup (I didn't), then once I get to the store I will be given the option of how to pay, which would be pay in full, financing, or the upgrade program.

I also noticed that on my reservation confirmation email, there's a blurb about the upgrade program, and nowhere does it say I can't choose that option.

So I think we're pretty safe if we choose a standard reservation instead of going through the upgrade program link. Worst case, if the employee gives me guff about it on launch day, I'll ask to speak to a manager.

Besides my reservation confirmation email that I got at 3am I don't see any place anywhere in the apple store app or the website that has any tabs or anything referring to the apple upgrade plan. Seems stupid to hide it away like its some big secret.

I see it says you need access to the existing carrier account if you have one, but what about if you are on a business plan as an employee who doesn't have permissions to do certain tasks (i.e. I'm on my employers business AT&T account and if I wanted to order a new subsidized priced iPhone I would have to have my contact at my employer call for me to make the purchase) could I see do the Upgrade Plan and go into an Apple Store and walk out with it?

I chatted with Apple and I was told that even if you did put a reservation through the iPhone upgrade Program, you can still buy it outright and not have to use the iPhone upgrade Program. Which I may very well pay it outright instead. What the reservation system does is it just reserves the phone for you and you can come pick it up, you don't "have" to use the iPhone upgrade program.

Apple retail stores do not handle business accounts you will be turned away. Sorry I misinformed you the first time.

You have to be given access by an authorized order placer or a day to day designated person. they are the ones who manage large or small business accounts

So they are the ones who need to make the reservation, but I can be the one who goes in to get it? (I work remotely so having them go too is not an option).
