With verizon edge I pay $37 dollars a month. Since I have the 15gb plan I get a $25 discount. So I'm paying $12 net for the iPhone 6. If I go with the apple upgrade program do I lose the $25 discount. If so, it's better to stay with verizon.

Are people just assuming that you can't pay the full balance on the Apple plan and own the phone? I don't see why you can't if you decide not to upgrade in 12 mos.

You'd end up paying up to ~ $200 more than full price if you kept it on this program. The value is for annual upgrades.

Curious about UK pricing and availability. I will be purchasing this iPhone outright, but might consider this in the future.

Won't you eventually get the discount because you'll move to a non-contract plan? I mean, if you're early in your contract, that could be some cost, so I guess it depends on short vs. long term savings ... [?]

It's essentially the NEXT program with a little bump for AppleCare.

Of course NEXT was blasted as evil, greedy and stupid and any customer who used it was getting duped because AT&T introduced it. But since this upgrade program is from Apple it'll be considered groundbreaking and forward thinking.
Original Next was evil, greedy and stupid. With original Next, you were already paying subsidy and you had to pay for the device installment on top of that so you were essentially paying for your device twice. It wasn't until AT&T introduced the Mobile Share Value plans with $15-25 line discount for Next (and BYOD) that Next started to make sense.

The major point for Apple with this program is this is bound to reduce their reliance on carriers for iPhone sales. Instead of having to go through the carrier and the hassles of upgrade eligibility, customers can finance their upgrades from Apple directly giving Apple greater control.

I see a lot of people going prepaid.
Is that allowed? "Requires activation with a national carrier - AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile". Taken literally, you can't use one of their prepaid brands like MetroPCS or Cricket or an MVNO like Straight Talk.

For me, I'd rather pay in full whatever the amount comes to as I'd rather not tack on another monthly payment to my bills. Does anyone know if I can pay the full amount of the entire 12 months up front? It seems like a good deal to get apple care and a new phone every year since I do upgrade every year.

I see this as being a all of none for this program. Either pay full price for the phone or pay the monthly rate. I could be wrong with though.

So Apple doesn't care what my current arrangement with ATT is, right? I still have 12 months left on my contract. No weird Next or anything like that. I would like to just move over to this program so I can get a 6s+ and start getting a new one ever year without having to keep selling the old ones.

It looks like it's with Citizens bank. I am not sure i am going to want a credit check on a device payment plan when i could do the same through the carrier.

I agree with you. For a moment I thought about going with Apple, then I read the fine print and noticed that they use a bank.

Of course, they have to do a credit check. It is just fair. They will not give a phone to a person with a risky credit score.

Also, I want my phone ASAP. Look like you have to make an appointment and then (if approved) they will order the phone. Phone will be out stock for a couple of week by the time you are ready to order. I need to return my current iPhone 6 plus to Gazelle by the September 26th. I locked in a good price a couple of weeks ago. I won't have a phone for a couple of days. That is ok with me.

I rather go with AT&T Next again. They won't run my credit. I am currently an AT&T customer and as long as you are in "good standing" with then they will not check your credit.

#1. Walk in to Apple Store on September 18th I think it was
#2. Give them my Sprint Account Number
#3. Sign up to have $31 Automatically withdrawn from my CheckIng Account CHASE is awesome
#4. Walk Out with new iPhone 6S Plus at $31.00 a Month

Activated on MY Existing Plan, Next year Get iPhone 7 same thing MUST give Back iPhone 6S Plus.

TMobile has the the same thing only its $19 a month not $31.

You read my mind. Thinking about it now prepaid will probably not be an option since you have to activate a new plan or add it to an existing plan. Even though the major carries offer prepaid I bet it will not be a "plan option" for buying your iPhone this way.

Does this mean I go to Tmobile, buy iPhone and then go to Apple and buy this plan? If so, what type of plan do you buy from carrier? I'm confused

Okay folks. Not trying to be mean, but....

Think through it. If you BUY the phone from somebody else (Tmobile here), why would you then pay somebody else (Apple) for the phone as well? Buying it twice?

Simple stuff. You buy it from the carrier or you buy it from Apple or you buy it from Best Buy, etc.

I don't see how this is a great deal, you basically pay for the entire phone, to 'rent' it? If you got to keep the phone at then end of the year it would be ok.

3d grade Math problem is a real problem on the forum . :)

128 iPhone 6s (not plus) = 849, New Apple care for 6s is 129. We have 849 + 129 = 978/(12+2)=978/24=40.75. It is 0 percent financial loan for iphone 6s 128+ apple care.

We should have only tech. questions here

1. Will we preorder online and go to the store day one to obtain the iPhone and sign credit documents?
2. If it is unlocked - what model is it GSM with LTE band 30 or VZW?Sprint CDMA without LTE30? LTE 30 is the future band for Att.
3. The main question : Can I get it day 1?
4. I don't care if I can pay it faster since it is ZERO PERCENT LOAN. BUT... every year when I sell my old iPhone I call Apple and get refund for unused part of Apple Care. Not easy, they transfer me 2-3 times, but I get it. Can I make the same with Apple credit-upgrade program?
5. How much will it be to unlock iPhone 6s with 3d part vendors if I go with Att 2 years contract?

remarks:
1. If we need to go to the store = Apple is not as efficient as should be. Same story like trying to show that we can recycle all the iphone, but it has highest possible SAR level. Do they like nature so much?!
2 We don't know what happens with Att next. Today they buy Mexican, tomorrow when they finally realize that they alone without customers and they implement LTE 30 in 2 months
3. My assumption is NO

Looks like applecare + has increased to 129 on their site and no longer the 99 dollar price.

Yeah. This makes the upgrade program a 4% APR if you upgrade yearly and a 2% if you don't. Guess the sponsoring bank has to make their money somehow :)

Still not bad compared to your average credit card APR.

I would be surprised if they did this otherwise wouldn't everyone do it, who could afford of course? Would 't they loose money this way?

Other wise is it cheaper or the same price to buy an iPhone then add Apple care +?

I believe you can keep paying for 24 months and you'll actually get to keep the phone having paid the entirety of the phone. It seems better though since you're also getting apple care for what seems like free. You're just allowed/given the option to upgrade after 12 months for people like myself who upgrade every year.

It's no different than leasing a car. You still have to return the car, or pay it off at the end. But the biggest difference is that you're only paying $30-45 for the phone per month. If you divide the total cost of a phone by 12 it's more than that.. so you're not paying for the entire phone. You're paying for 12 months and then keep on paying to have a new phone.

The more and more I think about this program the more I think it's just a scam. The biggest appeal of AppleCare+ to me is the fact that it adds an extra year to the warranty. To me that, plus the reduced pricing for incident replacements made it worth considering.

But under this program you're upgrading your phone before that extra year of warranty even kicks in. That's HALF the benefit of AppleCare+ gone. Factor in the fact that they're upping the cost by an extra $30 and the incident fees are increasing too, and AppleCare+ looks more and more like a rip off entirely.

I think I'll just stick with either T-Mobile's EIP or JUMP On Demand programs.
