The pin comes later via a pop-up dialogue box. Make sure you overwrite whatever is hidden under the "*****" and correct any incorrect entries. I found the info to be old for me and was causing an issue.

I have a question somewhat related to the IUP (but not so much the preapproval)... last year I enrolled in the IUP. Now, this year, I was preapproved without issue...

I've looked on Citizen One and I owe about $350 on my old iPhone 7 that I *intend* on turning back into them. However, I see that they are trending upwards of $575 on eBay. Never mind for a moment the argument of it being worth it to sell or not, but, for those who did it last year... what if I don't want to send my phone back? Or, rather, what if I "lost" or "broke" my iPhone 7 between pre-ordering and receiving my new one and actually had nothing to send back?

Can I still get my new iPhoneX? Worst case they just charge me the remainder of the loan ($350)? I'm just wondering what the options were say I didn't have a phone to return?

Yes if you don't send the phone back they just continue the contract. So you can keep and pay off in installments or complete the payment immediate.

Went through this with the 8 for my wife.

I had to try this twice, it worked the second time.

Sure enough they had the wrong SSN on file. I have no idea how my loan went through last year. So after spending a half hour on the phone with Apple they told me to apply again with the correct SSN. And now I have to email them a copy of my SS card.

So I am staying with my Verizon yearly upgrade program. That shows up as one of the options to pay for the iPhone X on the Apple Store app. Is that option basically the same thing as ordering from the Verizon app? I am assuming so, but wanted to see if anyone has done that before. Ordered a carrier upgrade program phone from the Apple store app. Let me know, thanks.

Yea I didn't see the need to go through Apple as it's more expensive than my current plan and doesn't really save that much time. I saved my configuration and I'll just click continue and then Apple pay for payment. Very easy either way.

Try again. The first time you did it, the system said the wrong PIN was entered. If you try to do it again, a popup will appear for your PIN.

I keep trying and when it goes to validate my carrier verification it says the PIN does not match, WTF? Its only has lines for my number, billing zip and last 4 of my social.

Well there you go, it works. Find the problems early, not at time of order. The program will prevent 3 am EST conniption fits or ritualized seppuku!

Did you find it worth it to sell the phone vs just turning it in? Was there any issue in obtaining your 8 while keeping the old one?

I posted elsewhere but if you are already in the program you don't need to unfreeze your credit reports. They will still be able to do a soft pull.

That was also my understanding. I have all my credit reports frozen, and failed verification twice. I unfroze Equifax and it went through.

the above article summarizes well the process for the 8 and 8 plus preapproval. This is for existing IUP people from last year, new members will have to enroll on the 27th when chances for server snafus as your credit, carrier and such need confirming and often do not all resolve til later morning.

Figured it out lol, It needed the last 4 of my wifes social due to we set up the account under her, so I had to change it from mine to hers, All done!! I am all pre approved

****sigh**** Ill try one more time, resisting the urge to use all caps.....is anyone who did the loan preapproval process and then the midnight preorder able to describe what happened when they logged in to do the actual preorder. Did a pop up appear? Is it the EXACT same as any other preorder? Why does apple say I need to have notifications on? Is that for something?

It is pretty crazy when put in that perspective. But do remember you get twice the storage of the MBP on that iPhone, and AppleCare

But for real, my iPhone is probably my most used device, even over my laptop most weeks I'll often not use my laptop over the weekend, but I'm using my phone at the same time as my laptop for calls/music.

I'm just hoping we don't have an OLEDGATE for Apple's first OLED iPhone.
