No issues on my 7 Plus. Apps open snappy with no lag whatsoever.

Re-indexing is one thing, but photo analysis (facial, object recognition), conversion to HEIF, and uploading photos to iCloud when you have optimisation on can also lead to lag, battery running down faster and phone running hot. Depending on the size of your library, this could take a long time.
Since people are still talking about re-indexing and not reading posts in the thread.

How is it possible that's it's slower after Apple removed major features like 32-bit app compatibility?
Because it's a x.0 release which often enough has some issues for some people?

For me my iPhone 7 Plus with iOS 11 has decreased my battery life. I’m starting to think planned obsolescence is actually true and forcing users to upgrade.

Another annoyance - which I didn't see mention here - the the phones and watches under our Apple ID suddenly have become "sources" in Health - so now my weight and heartbeat and workout data appears on my wife's iPhone - and vice versa (we have an appointment with a genius Thursday to try and undo that).

If you are sharing an Apple ID, that would be expected behavior. One ID per person and one person per ID, otherwise it’s an operator error.

I’m using an iPhone 6s Plus and the only huge problem I have is battery life. It’s terrible and I hope they fix this in a future update. There are some noticeable bugs but all in all everything works fine for me. Loving the update, though

Because people who believe that a company is crippling their devices on purpose would actually somehow want to give that company more money and get new devices that they suspect would again be crippled sometime in the near future? That's some interesting "logic" that would have to be in play there.

My 8 plus, is visually slower than 7 on ios10. My observation since friday.

Animations are choppy and app speed is not there. Comparing to the 7.
Right. I figured it would be since there is no home button delay on the 7 running 10.3.3. I'm keeping my 7 on 10.3.3 probably forever unless they change the home button behavior back!

Ugh. I wanted this update because it looked cool, unlike the iOS 10 update I severely regret installing as it did absolutely nothing but slow my phone down and make the Music app even more retarded. I hope this is fixed soon.

Ok but that’s not all accurate. Your photos arent being converted. Only new pics will be in the new format, old ones remain jpg. A large number of photos would only need uploaded if you just suddenly decided to use iCloud Photo Library. If you start fresh and it needs to download your library from iCloud then sure it’ll slow down for maybe a few hours depending on our library but I don’t think that’s what people are complaining about. It’s been nearly a week now and the issues remain, so they are unrelated to these indexing, iCloud, conversion excuses. Many of the issues existed during beta testing and many people assumed they’d be fixed by release. They were not.

I'm quite happy with the OS 11 update... It's faster on my 7/128 than 10 was. However, I've got this odd quirk... Either Music or Pandora will randomly start playing music... Regardless of whether or not the app is open.

Anyone else?

My 5s with swiftkey has been a frustrating experience.

Messages app will display a big blank square where a keyboard (apple or swiftkey) for up to 2 minutes and then give me something random in terms of dark or light keyboards, or developer. It also does a "crazy Scroll" where touching a text higher up the phone rewinds you to months ago.
At the moment it's moody and a total crapshoot.

A lot of my widgets like MS outlook's day calendar won't display all of the events and there is no longer a scroll ability.
A few other widgets also have text over text so they are unreadable.

It's glitchy for sure.

Not to mention every update seems to make more of my downloaded from CD's music disappear in lieu of apple Music Icons that take me to a sign up for a monthly bill web page.

Your phone is reindexing. Relax and let it do its job.

I can confirm this. My 6 Plus was hopelessly useless. I turned off all the effects, deleted almost all of my apps (specially those known for background processes) and it was just impossible to use. After about 3 days, it suddenly just started working smoothly. I even turned the visual effects back on and it’s still smooth.

One side note: there’s something wrong with waking from sleep. It doesn’t seem to be a slowness issue. It just doesn’t awake from sleep sometimes. I have to press the lock or home button several times to wake it up and then it catches up and wakes and sleeps multiple times.

I’m thinking of doing a backup and restore but I’ll wait another couple of days to see if this too resolved itself.

Why doesn’t this article reference users here who complain? It’s not just other forums that think ios11 is slow.

Honestly I was nervous about updating my iPhone 6s, but I haven't had any issues... it's been consistently very fast and fluid (no lag at all to be honest, I did get a least the occasional stutter in iOS 10) and I think battery life is even improved a tad. Am I the only one?!?

In other news 'water is wet'. Slowdown on old devices... just the way Apple wants it.

Yeah. iOS11 turned the previously smooth mini 4 into a rickety buggy mess. The dick is a nice upgrade, but the control center is yet another two-swipe jumble of clutter. Music & TV apps were already an atrocity in 10, & now the podcasts App is a human rights violation. Downgraded to 10 yesterday, would have gone back to 9 if I could have. Will probably leave it on 10 permanently.

I genuinely want to downgrade back to iOS10, the performance issues on my 10 month old 7 Plus are very frustrating. It is slower overall, and has needed about a half dozen hard resets in the past week to deal with quirks such as media playback via CarPlay and even a complete freeze (never happened in the time I've had this device).

The cynic inside me is telling me that the delay between pressing the home button and it responding is deliberate programming to differentiate between the 7 and 8. /tinfoilhat
The home button delay is there on the 8 as well. So a iPhone 7/7+ on 10.3.3 actually has a faster responding home button when closing apps.

After installing 8.0 on my 4S a few years back, it never stopped "reindexing". Luckily for me, I already had a 5s as my primary phone at the time (2014). I just kept the 4s as a backup. My point is there are some iPhones/iPads that will never be the same after the upgrade to iOS 11 (5s, 6, 6+, iPad Air, mini 2/3/4). I just hope my 6s gets one more reprieve when it comes to smooth operation and no lagging. As for my iPad mini 4, maybe the extra gig of ram will help it one more year. I'm still hanging on to 10.3.3 until 11.1 comes out.

"reindexing" -- LOL!! That takes a few minutes at most on flash storage. A week later and my my 7+ is either genome sequencing or mining bitcoin at the rate the battery is dying!

Well, I'll wait for at least a few days, and of course iOS 11.0.1. If neither one of these fix the battery problems I'll definitely get it replaced.
Just out of curiosity does the Battery -> Last 24 hours percentage in the settings app show anything unusual?
