Worst update in all the years I have had iPhones (first was a 3G). Both iPad and Mini have stopped charging overnight and run battery to zero (forums show this was a Beta issue too). Phone battery life much worse and apps like App Update hang frequently. Not impressed.

I had that problem on my 7 plus. It ended up resolving itself after backing up my phone onto a computer...it's now super fast, didn't even need to restore.

Downloaded iOS 11 and my iphone is so slow now that it reminds me of the dial-up days! I'm glad this is posted because I wanted to complain but didn't know where to complain to. #annoying

I experienced speed up on my iPhone 7, I didn't upgrade until the Golden Master was out. So, maybe do a clean install if your upgrading from alphas.

Sorry for all of those who have had bad experience with the new OS & iOS---My old 6 is working fine, I can even have fun with "Holo" the ark app. My Old iMac is doing great, and the battery life on both iPhone 6 & Apple watch 3 are as good as ever--hope you all get it sorted.

After a few days I had to do a restore from new this morning. An absolute mess yesterday trying to use my phone. So far so good.

iOS 11 is definitely one of Apple's worst major releases so far. iOS 10 was much more stable on launch day. Hope they'll fix it soon. My brand-new iPhone 8 Plus is an amazing piece of tech, but iOS 11 makes the total experience a bit less perfect to be honest.

My only gripe about iOS 11 is THE BIG TITLES in the opening view of many apps, such as Mail, with ALL INBOXES in a typeface so large that even my dead grandma could read it.

My iPhone 7 is fine. Some issues with certain apps, but it's because they didn't update them in time. Facebook Messenger would just crash, before they released an update.

The battery does seem to drop very fast, especially when installing updates.

In fact, it’s almost like installing app updates somehow has its priority set too high, while the phone can become non-responsive while apps are installing.

I also wonder if 32-bit apps could be contributing to the issue. While 32-bit apps are being blocked from launching, I think those that had background components are not blocking those 32-bit daemons from running and causing issues. I haven’t gone to clearing up all the 32-but apps yet, because I wanted to get App Store updates for those that will have 64-bit versions come out.

No problems here with my 7. Is this a widespread issue or just hey let’s put it on the front page because will be good for trolling and clicks?

It’s not a widespread issue at all. Otherwise the forums would be absolutely flooded with complaints (even more so than the typical MR quantity of complaining)

It’s more or less the same garbo from a small percent of people attempting to be loud and make things seem it’s universally as bad for everyone.

Always clean install new iOS versions. People never learn...

I honestly feel like iOS 11 is one of the most unposlished releases in a few years. For such a minor change on the phone side of the things it sure has caused a lot of trouble. Bugs in a big overhaul type update, ok fine, but this, not cool.

Since the update....m 7+ would freeze then looks likes its going to restart and finally comes back to the lock screen. This has happened maybe 5 times. Thinking i may have to do a clean install.

First I’ve thought it is: “iPhone Users Complain of App Slowdowns and Performance, Drops After Installing iOS 11”, then I read the article and checked the comments..

Thank God there are others. I'm starting to hate my iPhone 6+, it takes forever to load an app and it constantly reloads, multitasking for now just doesn't exist. I did backup/full wipe/restore, so no OTA this time. I don't know how THIS BIG company couldn't take care of something they are well known for - speed and responsiveness. I just don't believe it's not intentional.

Well, to be honest I do quite like the new big and bold titles. It makes up for sort of a fresh and new look. But I do get that not everyone is a fan of it. :p

iOS (which stands for "input-blocking Operating System) has become such a mess of delays, lag, and poor design choices.

How the mighty have fallen.

As opposed to... what? Or compared to what? A previous iOS? Which iOS? Some android alternative? – please do specify.

my iPhone 6+ is shocking slow after this update. I'll have to try a back-up and restore..

I have been running iOS Public betas since version 3 on both iPhone SE & iPad Air 2, no major issues. When the final iOS 11 version came out, I restored both beta devices via iTunes and then put everything back from the iTunes backup. Everything works just fine here. I use Google Photos for photos/video, so have 0 files in my Apple Photos app, so no need to reindex/convert anything there.

I have also updated an iPhone 7 from 10.3.3 straight to 11 OTA, also no issues. A similar setup with Google Photos vs Apple Photos.

Based on my experience anything starting from iPhone SE/6S and iPad Air 2 should handle iOS 11 quite well, so perhaps the new image/video formats and large photo/video libraries are to blame?

Really? Thought that was only a windows thing.

A fresh install always works like a charm. When I say a fresh install, that's a proper fresh install. If you do a fresh build & import your backup then you just bring a truck load of problems back.

Fresh build, fresh set-up, let iCloud sync your stuff = a good as new software experience with no problems.

wonder if it's only affecting users that were using beta versions? i used the beta software on my iPad Pro and upgraded to GM, experienced issues. but my phone 7+ went from iOS 10 -> final iOS 11 experienced no issues.

Don't think so - my wife and I both have the 6. I did the public beta and she did not. We both experience pretty dismal battery life - something I experienced early in the iOS 11 betas but which was fixed in subsequent betas.

Another annoyance - which I didn't see mention here - the the phones and watches under our Apple ID suddenly have become "sources" in Health - so now my weight and heartbeat and workout data appears on my wife's iPhone - and vice versa (we have an appointment with a genius Thursday to try and undo that).

Every year (for the major OS updates), I back up to iTunes, factory reset my phone, install the update via iTunes, then restore via iTunes. Haven't had any problems with battery drain or app performance. I think when people update directly over the old OS, stuff just gets jacked up in that transition. Too much "gunk" gets carried over from the previous OS.

That's my ignorant opinion anyway. :p
