I have a 6+ 64GB with plenty of free space on it. I've ran most of the Betas and experienced sliggish animations. I can live with an aging phone, but the most annoying thing is that the keyboard lagged so much I was unable to type.

Tried turning transparency, animations, every keyboard option etc off. Did a full wipe/restore from iTunes after the launch.

It made it a slight difference, but I ended up installing Gboard (also tried swiftkey) and it felt like a new phone.

The moment you have to go through the effort of backing up, doing a clean install and restoring your device for 3 hours, that's when iOS stops becoming iOS. Simplicity and 'it just works' was what made iOS successful and distinguished it from the rest. The moment it starts losing this quality and when it starts to become a chore for users to maintain its performance, then iOS has lost its identity and in the end, will start losing its user base.

Chore is when you constantly have to dig in to your phone to manually remove corrupted data that prevents it from functioning properly. I see simplicity by fixing this problem just by doing this 3 steps and not loosing any of my files, messages, passwords and settings of the last 7 years of having an iPhone. And I never really lost functionality of my phone while restoring.

Err ios 11 running fine on my iphone 6, almost no lags and 4-5h usage and around 10-12h stanby, recently swapped my battery for a new one, might be why.

7+ 128GB and I think it's actually just a tad faster, my buddy with a 6s+ also said the same, and he's super-critical. However, iMessage is buggy as all get out, on my iPhone and iPad Pro 9.7.

Gotta love a Factory Restore + Set up as new + no Backup. 6s super satisfied with this update.

I don't think this is true everything working great on iOS 11 here

I think this should be the time Apple says iOS 11 apps only.... That's is not allowing the user to upgrade *after* wards, but delete and re-download if its available..

Be forceful... Apple gave you warnings, but still says the user has control to update apps? I have some of my apps upgraded for iOS 11,, (not sure why because i never going there) but just in case i do..

I installed iOS 11 totally fresh without restoring in my iPhone 6 and sometimes it gets stuck and if you want to power it off is not possible at all. Notification window sometimes doesn't show nothing. And the list goes on and on. That's not a version Apple should have released. Still a lot to polish

6S here, I didn’t run any of the betas... OTA update last Tues. Still getting used to the new/changed features but no issues with speed or battery life. I did have some initial weirdness with the time on the clock app freezing, but a hard restart seems to have fixed it.

Doesn’t seem any faster or slower, A9 & 2GB is a solid platform. I expect it will work well for another couple years. Depending on how much more demanding iOS12 and 13 are, it may not make sense to install future updates. But iOS 11 is a winner for 6S, SE and 2017 iPad, it seems.

I’m sure a small percentage are having problems, as reported but it doesn’t seem very widespread—which doesn’t matter if you’re the one having issues. If I were on a 5S or 6 I’m not sure if iOS 11 would be a good idea or not; waiting for a couple point releases could be the best course of action. Maybe downgrade to 10.3.3 while Apple is still signing, if you’re having the reported usability issues.

No problems at all, very fluid animations, app startup times the same as iOS 10, rebooting is fast. No crashing, no hiccups...
2016 iPhone SE, 64GB.

Terrible performance + Awful Battery Life. Sounds like every new Apple update these days.
Glad I went back to iOS 10.3.

*Looks at the first three words of the topic.

So what else is new? ;)

But seriously, my 8+ runs iOS 11 and apps just fine.

iPhone 6 here. Toggled off almost all Siri-in-apps stuff: search, look up etc. As well as Hand-off. My phone is zippy again and I don’t miss any of the functionality. I think the new Siri is too resource-heavy, especially on 1GB devices.

Man this seems like deja vu. Haven't we all read about these kinds of problems every time when a new OS drops?

These posts in this thread are exactly the same as the ones listed when iOS 9 dropped and when iOS 10 dropped. It's almost copy & paste.

Summary:
Slow
Bad Battery life
Crashes
Runs hot
Assorted bugs

Every .0 release is buggy & not ready for prime time. Why can't people wait until .3? The masochism is amazing.

iOS 10.0 was not a good experience for lots & lots of people. iOS 9.0 was hell. (9.3.5 was very nice).

Planned obsolescence? Yeah, iOS11 is super slow. I love my iPhone, but seems like a sales tactic.

We hear exactly the same thing every single September, and it has never made sense. How exactly is this "planned obsolescence?" First of all, it is blindingly obvious that new software is going to add new features and be more processor-intensive than older software. Apple isn't going to exclude new features because some older phones will run it slightly slower. It's not as if they stick code in iOS that says "if this is running on an older device, make sure you run extra slow teehee." That's just the way tech works.

Second, you don't HAVE to download iOS 11. You can continue to use iOS 10 on your current device and get exactly the same performance for years to come. Many times Apple will even issue updates to past iOS versions to patch security issues.

The "slowness" that people are complaining about is either the phone re-indexing, the fact that Apple changed some settings/animations/visuals, a lack of compatibility updates from app developers, an issue with the install, or some combination of those.

On another note, my iPhone 7 Plus is running perfectly fine and has been for the past 5 or so betas.

Don't worry. A new iPhone 8 or X purchase will fix that.
Already been shown that some with iPhone 8 are experiencing some issues here and there. More of a typical x.0 type of thing than anything else. But reality isn't as exciting as imagination can be, so people run with that.

My iPhone 7 Plus was AWFUL the first few days. Sluggish and AWFUL battery life.

After about 4 days the battery went right back to normal.

Most of the time things seem the same or faster, but I get the occasional slowdown (for a second) and the stutter/freeze once in a random while (usually with an app I hadn't used yet).

My first gen iPad Pro 12.9" seemed to adapt very quickly. It's usually at home so battery isn't really an issue.

Usually when I pick it up in the evening it's got 50 app updates, so I'm not sure when it's slow and when it's installing...

Best thing we can do in order to complaint about that is not to upgrade
No problems here with my 7. Is this a widespread issue or just hey let’s put it on the front page because will be good for trolling and clicks?

You can find a lot of complaints about that in Apple discussions. However, I was updated my ipad2017 and everything(less some minor bugs) it's OK.

Said that, I'm not gonna upgrade my 7 by the moment. I use my iphone more than ipad so I prefer to wait.

I don't think this is true everything working great on iOS 11 here

My iPad used to do that with 10.3.3 :(
