Apple are like the bright kid who is popular, good looking and witty who all the girls swoon over. All the other guys are as jealous as hell of him and can't wait to undermine and bully him at every opportunity.
As Oscar Wilde said The only thing worse than being talked about is Not being talked about. So it is so good that these companies are being eaten alive by apple so much- I love it.
We don;t know half of what apple has planned with the next iphone. OK they have pre viewed OS 3.0 but they are not going to reveal all their secrets.
Besides I honestly believe Palm will go down over patent infringments.
It s going to be one hell of an interesting summer and the lawyers will get very rich.
haha, very accurate simile. I know so many PC users that just hate apple and they don't know why. they've never used one so they don't know.
Apple has to release something great and i'm sure they'll surprise us with something huge.
Apple doesn't have patents on as much as you think. The very nature of patents is that you apply for something huge, like multi touch in general, and get something small like the way scrolling behaves. Like i don't think they have "pinch to zoom" patented or anything huge like that. just little things.
Some of the things we know apple has patents on:
Scrolling behavior: When you move your finger vertically on the iphone, it will only scroll vertically, even if you start to move your finger left and right. same with horizontally. BUT if you move it diagonally, you are free to move the page in any direction your heart desires.
Page Bounce Back: this is the best way i could describe it in a title. This is basically how apple allows you to scroll "past" the top or bottom of a page and then it bounces back. this is something that the Pre actually does and probably could get in trouble for.
Also, Palm has some patents that Apple actually uses. One being ambient light sensing and adjusting screen brightness to that light. I feel like Apple is like, "We're suing you for your page spring back!" and palm is like, "Well if you do then we'll sue you for the screen brightness infringement, and you have that on your iphone AND your notebooks"
If this is how it's happening, and i'm not a lawyer so i have no idea, then both companies need to think about which patents are worth it to them, which will be interesting.
note: i actually just found the article where i got all that info a while back, and it has some videos for explanation, although anyone with an iphone knows what i'm talking about.
here it is!
