iPhone will deliver on June 23rd email proof....

donotreply@apple.com has been used since at least 2008 for invoice receipts. have you ever ordered anything else from the apple store online? if so, you'll be able to find one.

red flag #1 on the headers is that the message-id is not from the apple domain, and in fact, doesn't even list the top level domain of .com

Message-Id: <20100622055524.150C01534F2C@biweb>

compare that to a shipment notification email from apple, where apple is clearly identified in the id:

Message-Id: <ec228d$qe8sj@badger-txnvip.apple.com>

red flag #2:

the message originates from the CDT zone, and it appears that this message actually started by being sent to this "biweb" server (this entry should start with "Received: from...":

Received: by biweb (Postfix, from userid 70) id 150C01534F2C; Tue, 22 Jun 2010 00:55:24 -0500 (CDT)

this is an example of the origin of a known apple email:

Received: from cbox-ignite03.apple.com (HELO clarion.apple.com) ([17.128.113.73]) by badger02008.apple.com with ESMTP; 21 Jun 2010 10:53:03 -0700

Yes I have and the acks don't come form do not reply look for yourself

I received the email as well, but mine still shows it's in Anchorage awaiting clearance (arrived there yesterday at 12:59pm local time) - it still has not left for Memphis.

I'm in STL, by the way.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3GS: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_0 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8A293 Safari/6531.22.7)

I'm not reading this whole thread, but couldn't this be automated?

OK. Duly noted. This time tomorrow plus a couple of hours or sooner you will either been known as a genius or a honorary member of the Black Helicopter Conspiracy Witness Protection Program.

Actually if the email is a hoax I would expect a statement from Apple this AM or afternoon, at the latest.

"biweb" is legit. Apple may be using another fulfillment service to coordinate with AT&T.

Thanks for posting that...I can only see the email on my iPhone at work which makes snooping the origin tough

Apparently my phone went on a baby wolf hunt with Sarah Palin and still hasn't left Alaska. My delivery date is the 23rd here on the far far East coast of Wilmington NC.

I think she took my phone too! It's still in Alaska and I got the email late last night. These phones better get a move on if they're gonna get to us by tomorrow!

Mine says same. But I think they are already long gone from Alaska, I don't think Fed Ex updates until it gets to its destination....it will get scanned and all of a sudden you will see the last three stops it made....

I just checked back through my saved messages from Apple that date back to 2003, and there isn't a single one that doesn't identify me by name, or list what it was I ordered or bought. I do have some from a do_not_reply@apple.com but none from donotreply@apple.com

Captain Buzzkill to the rescue again. You just don't give up!

I think they, you know, APPLE, could have more than one e-mail address, don't you think?

It's 9 am in the east where I'm sitting. I think that if this were a fake, Apple would have been all over it by now. If they haven't said or released anything by Noon EST, I think you would have to concede it's the real deal.

Bahooki, were you not able to pre-order the phone?

Not all orders will be recieved by the 23rd, only some. Those people who have their tracking as the "23rd" will get it tomorrow. Those who have their tracking that states "24th" will you get the point.

Sandornaut,

I just called twice to confirm after i saw dhy's post. Both reps told me shipments will be arriving early. The one even checked with customer service on the header and said its legit. I know your skeptical but I think you can stop worrying. I suggest you call yourself...

Either way i will be skipping classes tomorrow!

Did you read the email? It says that even if your tracking says 24th you will get it on the 23rd.

And yet my tracking has always said the 24th, but I received the Apple e-mail saying I'll be getting it on the 23rd.

But I get what you're saying... not everyone will get their order tomorrow. Some are still going to be delivered on Thursday or later.

Yep, they can have as many addresses as they want, but they've never sent me one that doesn't identify me by name. And I did pre order a phone, which is listed to arrive on the 23rd.

So what's with this crusade? I mean, doesn't this e-mail just confirm your delivery date?

i'm not worrying either way... i work from home so i don't need to make any special arrangements if the phone arrives tomorrow or thursday. i was simply reporting what i found, but i think it's pretty obvious that i should just keep my mouth shut.

Ugh! I have two phones coming. Ordered via ATT which doesn't have a presign option. You guessed it -- one of them has shipped and looks to arrive tomorrow, the other one hasn't yet shipped which I suspect means it will arrive Thursday or Friday.

This means I have to telecommute 2 days in order to be there for the packages to arrive. :(

Wow a lot has happened since I went to bed last night.

Got my "June 23rd" email last night 12:15AM around the same time my phone was landing in Louisville.

My shipment info also originally said June 23rd
