You can try ti make a dfu mode and not take a backup but restart as a new.
And after we waiting a ne iOS 11.2.1

i've been noticing this over the last few days as well. Doesn't seem to be a rogue app (quitting one by one does not change anything). Only a hard reboot fixes it. I think it's something with 11.2 more than a single app problem. Hopefully the next ios update will address this.

Not sure if this is a battery issue or just a bug. I’ve noticed this week my battery usage and standby number are exactly the same.

Wasn’t like that before. I’ve searched and it seems it’s an issue people have had in the past and used various was for a fix.

I’ve rebooted the phone with no luck, may try and drain the battery all the way to zero and see what happens.

Anyone else with an iPhone X experience this?

I have had iPhones since the beginning and have never seen this. I used my phone maybe 2 hours today but it’s showing my usage = to my standby so I’m not sure what this means or how to fix it. I have background app refreshing off and location set to only while using apps.

I had the EXACT same issue. Was driving me nuts for days. After doing a restore etc. I turned off location services and was able to find the culprit. It was a parking app I had that was causing the issue. It was using my location always but unlike my other apps that used my location always it was causing the standby and usage issue. Good luck.

I have this problem every once in a while. Never quite figured out what causes the problem. But more often than not a reboot fixes the issue for me.

However, checking location settings is always a good idea. Waze, for instance, needs to be send to sleep manually if I recollect correctly. But iOS 11 seems to show on the top left if an app is still running or demanding location service - at least on iPhone X.

Had this issue as well but for me resetting network setting fixed the issue.
OMG I've been fighting the same on my iP8+ this week, after just touting its epic battery life last week (although it still lasts forever even with the usage=standby all this week). Guess what, I did just that after reading your post and it *immediately* fixed it. I was going to do a backup/wipe/restore today too. The last time I did the reset network trick to troubleshoot other issues was probably back in the iPhone 4 days. Thanks for pointing this out.

Now I'm wondering if it had something to do with my rolling back a firmware update on my router right around the time this starting happening on my 8+, although I've tried every combination of things and nothing fixed it (completely disabling location services, background refresh, wifi/BT/cellular off individually, airplane mode, and different combinations of it all).

Didn't mean to hijack this thread, but this can happen to any models and not just the X (which I have owned and used for 2 weeks with no battery issues).

Still doing this on 11.2.1

When I hard reboot, it's fine for a while. But at some point during the next charge cycle, the standby time and usage time begin going up at the same rate.

I'm not convinced it's a single rogue app as suggested in the threads quoted above.

I had this happening on my 8+ all week. Then, per a suggestion in another thread, did a network settings reset and it immediately solved the problem.

I tried many different things troubleshooting it, turning off background refresh, location service, Wi-Fi/BT/cellular off, even removed some apps that I thought might be suspect, and of course reboot and even forced reboot, nothing fixed it. 11.2.1 didn’t fix it. The moment I did the network reset it was fixed immediately.

I had the same issue about 2 weeks ago with my X. Network reset resolved it for me as well. I tried force closing all apps and hard restart, and neither worked.

So far so good for me, just ran my iPhone X down till it shut off and let it completely charge.

But if it happens again I will reset my network settings.

Thanks. will give this a try.

I have the same problem on my one week old iPhone X. Initially I was able to fix it by turning the auto brightness on and off however the issue is back. Turning the auto brightness on and off does not seem to work anymore. I did all your suggestion and nothing seems to work.

I also had this issue on my iPhone X.

I rebooted the phone then drained the battery down to zero. Let it charge to 100% and it never happened again.

I found the culprit that was causing my issues. It’s a parking app called “ParkWise”. All the restoring and hard resets etc. Glad it’s all fixed. Thanks guys!

I don’t believe it’s any apps. With so many having this issue I’m chalking it up to a bug in 11.2

My very generous friend gifted me an X today :) I bought an X on day one but returned it mainly due to missing the home button, but now I have no choice but to use it :D

Anyway, after restoring from my 8+, right away standby = usage. Did the network restore and again fixed it immediately.

Funny how my fix was different than everyone else’s lol

Let’s see who’s phone goes back to doing the nonsense again. This should be a good test.

The network resetting does work, but it’s not a permanent fix. The next day after charging, the phone displays the same standby and usage times. I upgraded to 11.2.1 and that’s when this began for me.

This hasn't been my experience. I charged it two days ago, and have been going strong with normal usage/standby time. This is the first discharge cycle, after charging fully after resetting network settings.
