It’s something in the last two updates. Didn’t have the issue before then. A restart seems to get it back to normal for a time, but it reappears after a time.
I agree... I reset my network settings and it’s all good again. Let’s see if this one will completely resolve the issue.

Reset network settings isn’t a permanent fix. On Apple support forums some said the issue comes back.

The battery needs to be recalibrated. Like I said earlier

It’s all clear, if you don’t use your phone, you can arrive as well 4days. AmEN

I guess this is directed at me, even though it has nothing to do with the thread topic. I worked 3 shifts in a row, getting only a few hours of sleep between each shift in the call room, and didn't have a charger the 2nd night. I work in an ER, so I don't spend a ton of time on my phone while working.

do you mean just run all the way down and charged up? that's the permanent fix? Can you link me to the Apple support discussion?

That’s exactly what happened on my 8+ all of a sudden after running beautifully for a week, brand new phone. I tried many things to find the culprit for days to no avail, then did the network reset and it’s been running perfectly now. This issue also presented itself on my new X immediately after restoring from my 8+ backup. Went straight to resetting network and my first charge since 2 days ago still has 35% with 6 hours of usage.

Give the network reset a try. The only thing you lose is Wi-Fi password to all previously remembered Wi-Fi networks.

Did it resolve for you? Mine does the same thing but I hard reset it and it seems to be better. Will try the network reset if it the problem persists.

Reset my network as well. It seems better now. 2 hrs standby, there is around 15min usage (I didn't use anything though lol).

I’m having this issue on 11.2.1. Resetting the network settings works but it’s a temporary fix. After a day the usage and standby are the same again.
I just did a reset of all the settings so I’ll monitor that. Is there any chance that this is a hardware failure?

Same issue here.
I tried everything.
Restore from iCloud-Backup, from iTunes-Backup... nothing. Without Backup... nothing at all.

Then i went to the Apple Store, because i had a few issues with the iPhone.
They replaced it.

And boom, the issue is gone. I use the new iPhone X since a week and everything is fine.
Very strange.

How does one recalibrate the battery? Do you mean just draining it down to 0% and then charging it to 100%? Thanks.

Yes. And when it hits 100% keep it on the charger for at least another hour or so.

They replaced it? Damn all the battery needed was to be recalibrated.

Ok, I will try this. Thank you. Hopefully I don’t need to have it replaced.

Commenting to say I have the same problem. Will try a battery recalibration and report back.

This continues to happen to me. The days it occurs the battery life is noticeably shorter than the days it does not. This is a real issue :\

Sorry to hear. Since I posted this thread, a simple calibration has done the trick and have not had the issue since.

I should add, I never noticed a battery drop the two times I saw usage and standby the same. First time I rebooted the phone and it didn’t work.

I know others have reset network settings but that doesn’t solve the issue permanently for most users.

All I did was drain the battery till the phone shut off. Then left it on the charger for about 8 hours (over night).

That was the day I posted this, and it’s been running perfect since. I do feel it is another bug with iOS 11.2. And from what I’ve read it happens with all the new phones, 8 and 8 plus as well.

Good luck!

It’s been 3 days since I drained the battery till it turned off and then left it on the charger for 9 hours. So far the usage and standby times are different now, and I just hope that this is a permamanet fix because none of the other options were.
