I highly recommend getting the wood bumper case from GroveMade. Not for everyone, since the wood will likely crack if dropped on the ground, but good for those who want a naked phone but want some type of minimal protection etc.

works great with glass front and plastic film on the back. just got it today!

price is steep though...but i'm very happy with the case so far. only been a few hours but got lots of compliments and questions already at work about the company.

This what they they told me:

“We did modify the tooling to allow for an easier press after hearing about all the issues with the buttons. They still don't have a lot of play or clickiness, but they work a lot better and easier.”

I’m still skeptical. I opted to return mine for a refund, instead of getting a replacement. If the feedback is positive on the updated bumper, maybe I’ll reorder.

Ok sounds good. I’m curious how it compares. My buttons have gotten easier to press over time but they are still what I would consider stiff. But not enough to be a deal breaker. Out of box the buttons were really stiff though.

I just got the same one today as well! My only complaints are that the buttons are very mushy especially coming from the hard pushes on the K11 and if you push on the front of the phone a bit it completely falls out the back of the bumper.

It’s gorgeous though.

Yea I just noticeded the fit is not entirely perfect. My sides are sort of loose so when you press from the left, it engages the volume down button. And when u squeeze the right side, it engages the power button. I will try it out for a few days and email grovemade if this is a serious annoyance for me. Biggest concern is if the phone would pop out in any light impact etc

It's not available yet... added some details to the post above, not sure why the other 2 pics arent working right now...

let's try this...

Looks great! Can you give us more details? Materials, specs, etc.? When will it be in production and ready to be shipped?

wanted to wait until release to spill the beans, but i'm hoping to have them ready to ship within 2 weeks. The frame is lightweight aerospace grade aluminum that's been bead blasted, edges are beveled and give an AWESOME feel in the hand. The buttons are also aluminum and are chamfered, the tactile feel is perfect and there are no rattles (i know this is important). Inside is a silicone layer with feet on the top back of the case to keep the camera raised. It's also worth mentioning that there is almost no play at all if you pull from the sides of the case, many other bumpers including the K11 bow out easily when you pull from the sides.

While i'm a case junky, i've been working on these cases for a while and didn't want to share anything until they were almost ready! I'm still working through the website design and additional details, but they will be available at iphonexbumpers.com when they go live!

I really like the look of this case. It looks similar to the old style K11 that I liked. The new K11 is too squared off and bulky on the sides, not to mention the volume button stiffness being unacceptable.

What's the deal with the bottom left edge corner of the phone? Is there no aluminum there or something?

It looks identical to the PureGear Glassbak 360 minus the back. The use of TPU for most of the bottom is the same.

The close up of course is different, but may be different in a bad way. The TPU breaks at the corners aren't there. They were previously there in almost all bumpers the did not impact signal strength. All the bumpers I've seen that did not include some sort of interruption of the metal band significantly harmed signal strength and dropped calls. Switcheasy had an interesting solution with their Iglass case. They included polycarbonate at the corners to allow a signal path and I can attest to the workability of their design.

It is possible that since the entire back is glass and allows the signal to pass it may be that these breaks at no longer necessary. If that's true I would be very interested in proof of that. If so it opens the possibilities for metal case design.

I think Element case way back at iPhone 4 and 5 introduced the design concept of separating the band parts to improve signal.

Edit: The full views do show the breaks at the corners. It looks like it is some other Manufacturers case. The corner detail may be from yet another manufacturers case. Forgive me if i'm wrong.

Edit 2: I see the left side has no top break and the right side does. So maybe forget everything I said.

Mind posting more pics of the case showing the bottom where the charging port is?

Haha, all of the details will be available at launch including additional photos, two members will be receiving production units for review, hopefully you'll see those up next week sometime!

In all of my testing there was zero signal loss with the Lunar Bumper installed! Hang tight!

I’ve got an extra grovemade maple wood bumper I am thinking of selling. If anyone is interested PM me

I really miss the old Spigen Neo Hybrid EX bumpers that came out for the iPhone 6 Plus back in the day. Still looking for the perfect bumper for my X.
