iPhone X iPhone X crackle speakers?

Seriously, playing music through the speakers in the phone....!!!! Ignoring the fact so many people feed the need to listen to clips or have speakerphone calls in public, which shows a lack of manners and disregard for others nearby, the quality is atrocious. No device with such small speakers (and little internal space to provide any sort of bass) can generate a decent sound. Just don't do it.

Is that you, Cookie?

*Replacement update*

My ‘replacement’ iPhone X showed up via FedEx today.

The crackling is three times as bad (no exaggeration) as on the current iPhone 10 that’s been giving me trouble since day 1. Makes the original one a bliss compared to that one.

And oh, surprise, the screen is scratched in the notch. There’s that bright line going down from the bezel to the OLED screen right between the various sensor—probably the black paint underneath that’s taken a hit. And then they have the audacity to tell you that the replacement handsets are thoroughly inspected.

I’ve sent back the replacement one and returned the original one for a full refund.

I’ll wait until next year to get my hands on one when Apple has acknowledged what’s going on and whether they can fix it. This has gone far too long at this point and I am refuse to be dealing with this any longer. All of that nonsense involving $1200. No more.

Damn.

The high pitche piano notes would make any speaker crack at max volume.

It’s max volume of a tiny speaker
But my iMac speaker is doing just fine on the same video at max volume. Also, I noticed the crackling on iPhone X at max volume for almost every audio I play. I do have very sensitive ear though.

Mine crackles like crazy on this video from 80% volume.
Crackled on mine too. To be honest I think it’s just something we are going to have to deal with, people saying replacement phones are the same or worse, others saying every phone in the shop was like it. I guess it’s just a design flaw that is there on all of them?

Still hesitating for a return. What if only the first batches were faulty ?
I could live with it but I would feel bad if the new ones were flawless...
Every X I've tested has the issue. I don't want to end up in the never ending replacement cycle.
On the other hand, I keep reading there are flawless units out there... Maybe I'm just too picky.

My appointment is scheduled for later today, after work at my local London store. I sold a flawless Iphone 7 plus to experience the X which was going positive till I received a notification. If I am not 100% happy with a replacement I will be going for a full refund and it will be back to my 6's till next year.

Here: iPhone 8 which I bought on Saturday and it crackles with calls.

Is this a software or hardware problem?

EDIT: I think this is a software problem because the problems is to me not every time ..

Here's my honest and unrehearsed demonstration of the crackling sounds from my iPhone 8 Plus. Sorry it is a bit long winded.

Noticed the poor quality of the top speaker soon after unboxing. Learnt my lesson with Apple Products in the past, to hold out for a bit (eg AirPods case battery) to see if it ‘breaks in’ or a software fix is pushed out. But as the days worn on and the sound got worse I considered it a lemon. Most the Xs I have come across have the issue, only 2 I have heard don’t.
Returned mine to try again another day.

Yeah, I wish I didn't sell my perfect iPhone 7 Plus to be honest.. Ugh

I'm hoping this is ironed out and i'll get a warranty replacement later on

I have talked to Apple on the phone about this issue and they said, that I can take my phone with me to my closest Apple store or in Norway a 3-rd party store called (Eplehuset). I got there, and they tested my device. They also compared my iPhone X with another one, and we could clearly hear a difference. So, they gonna send it in for a repair, and I will update you guys when it returns, which will happen soonest Friday next week.
The people at the (Eplehuset) was as always very helpful and kind.

Hmm. Mine has the crackle at volumes above 50% or so, happening with most audio clips..... I don’t listen to things without earbuds often though... Might wait to warranty replace until this is ironed out in a few months. I wonder if there’s an option to switch audio to the bottom speaker only like it used to be, in the meantime....

You can send all audio to bottom speaker using accessibility settings but fact is you shouldn’t have too.
Such a shame Apple can’t get a simple thing as a speaker right

I don't have it. The worst I can hear is some buzzing, which is more like expected distortion at the max volume. Again, even that does not happen all the time at max. My X speakers sound better, louder, and clearer than my friend's 8 Plus. I've said it before: I think Apple is using different suppliers for the X speakers, so some of them have the issue while the others don't.

Yea. These speakers are so much better. All iPhones I had at max volume were a little distorted.

Had my genius appointment today at the Covent Garden store in London. My phone is going back for a refund tomorrow. Swapped for a brand new one and sounded worse so i asked for the old one back. Support agent went out and spoke with someone out back and apparently 11.2 will be released to fix the issue. Apple diagnostics came back fine on both phones. I am currently running a backup now and then back to my trusted 6s. I will keep an eye on the forums to see if a fix is released in the coming weeks/months. Good luck all

11.2 will fix the issue yet no one has responded to this forum, and 99% of the Apple employees mentioned prior to this had no idea it was happening? I doubt it

It did make me laugh I then asked him to take a look at what version of iOS was running on my phone 11.2 latest beta. By the way this has made no difference.

I'm confused as to how this is so complicated to get a replacement. I've been talking to them for hours. They hear the damn thing sounds like trash.
