Horrible stuff

Leave it to the utensils

Have you actually used it? Because it works great on polished stainless steel Apple products.

And pretty much anything that’s polished steel.

Or just get any metal polish from your local grocery or auto parts store.

Bonus tip! ******

Since most polishes come as a liquid or paste, you can avoid it getting into the phone’s crevices and ports by first “treating” a rag with it. Apply a dab of polish to your favorite rag, work it in, and let it air dry. The rag will be good for polishing metal almost permanently after that.

Been polishing my tubas (brass, silver plated, and nickel plated) and euphoniums for about thirty years this way.

(I understand how internet trends can focus on a single product for a given task — in this case, Cape Cod cloths — but there are literally dozens of products that do the same thing, and for a lot cheaper over the long run, too)

yeah especially the bottom is scratched. I will call apple tomorrow. got the same problem the the iPhone 5s years ago and my iPhone was replaced without a question, so I will try

Why you will call Apple tomorrow? You decided to use your mobile without protecting it adequately.
Than your iphone X got scuffed and you want apple to exchange it?? Are you for real? Why on earth should they do that? Why on earth would you do that? There is a reason people buy cases and screen protectors.

I have the space gray X in an apple silicone case and I haven't noticed any scratches..........yet

I can vouch for cape cod cleaning cloths. I use them on my various tube mods (electronic cigarettes) made from stainless steel, brass, copper and they work like magic in polishing out scratches and making metals look like new again.

I would make mention though, the stuff stinks like hell and please try to wear some gloves when using it. Also the cloths are drenched in a liquid metal polishing agent, so make sure you squeeze the cloth to get rid of the excess cleaning agent, as you do not want that seeping into any gaps and into the internals of the phone. I imagine the cleaning agent will be abrasive and you wouldn't want that getting inside your phone. A little care when using it is all it takes but it does work like magic!

I just returned my space gray after 10 days of usage. I noticed that the finish around lightning port and speaker holes started to come off a little. Don't even want to think about how it will look like after a month.

20 years ago I got a Nokia 6600 when it first came out, it was so valuable to me, protected it however I can, I remember how sad I was when it finally got scratched

Fast forward 20 years, I cherish every scratch now, it shows character, you're going to stop caring in 3 months anyway

When you put a device in a case, you can't interact with it well, and the case itself gets scratched and damaged more than the device itself, so aesthetically, you're usually in a worse spot during daily usage

Of course, in the case of iPhone X, if you drop the phone regularly, a case might be a must, but I'm taking the risk

Have to say, the front screen gets scratched pretty easily, I have various micro scratches already with just a week of light usage

After reading ByeMac's comment tho, I wish they made a silver one with a black back, so that scratches to the frame wouldn't result in discolouration

How is this news? I mean how can you not expect this to scratch?

Another reason why I will wait for 2018 models.

Space Gray iPhone X, which has been in a case since launch day has scratches on the metal frame. Reminds me of Black iPhone 5, which suffered a similar issue.

Again...

This is what happens when people grow up only knowing about plastics.

I’m with the guy who’ll take any phones from people who can’t tolerate metal behaving like metal when it gains little scratches.

Get a grip, you whiny clods.

After 3 weeks of usage, I have to say I agree, out of all my iDevices, iPhone X gets scratched so fast, the front screen I mean

I have an abused iPod Touch that I threw around for years, I compared it with my iPhone X, while iPod has some minor surface scratches, the iPhone X already has some deep scratches and a multitude of soft ones

Here comes a lesson/suggestion, don't put your phone screen down, let it rest on the camera while it's down, I've noticed that the scratches are dust scratches, if you put the phone down on a dusty surface (basically any surface), while you pick it up, the dust scratches the phone

Live and learn, I hoped/assumed the screen would be resistant to scratches, but it's not, I'll continue on hoping, and hope I can keep the upper part of the screen scratch free - a deep scratch to the front camera would probably be an issue

I'll never understand the neurotic tendency to keep something like a phone in pristine condition.

its the tech equivalent of keeping clear plastic on sofas.
people learn these behaviors from their mothers.

i liked the comment from an earlier poster who said this tendency also is exhibited in people who only know plastics. very true.

It’s simple really, don’t use an ugly case!!! I have no scratches in the frame and been naked from day 1.

I use mine naked, last night at the WACA I thought I lost my phone. Turns out it was on the flip stadium seat and when it flipped up it threw my X in the air and it landed on the concrete.

Yup you guessed it, it’s absokutely fine no breakage, scratches.

I'm going to see whether I can return or replace mine, I'm still within the return period, but I don't know whether conditions apply yet, going to call and learn

I was ok with surface scratches, but deep scratches just from dust? That's too much :(
("dust" isn't a hefty dust either, it's from a Dyson vacuumed room)

I still can't believe how the screen could be scratched so so deeply, when I increase the screen brightness, the scratch refracts light

I do believe there's something amiss tho, they claim the glass is stronger than anything they made, but as comparison, I have my 5th gen iPod that I used for 3 years, has almost no light scratches, no deep scratches - in comparison - the iPhone X got a multitude of light scratches, and 2 deep scratches, one being in the middle of the screen, and I'm guessing, 0.3mm deep and wide
[doublepost=1514890318][/doublepost]Started the return process, funny thing is, I still don't want to use a phone with bulky protectors etc. - but best not to repeat a mistake twice, I'll buy some protection

The representative mentioned it could be a defect with the coating process, but I guess it's best not to risk it, still, the phone was beautiful, really wish it was possible to use it as it is ... :(
