about privacy and face id .. now anyone can take your phone put it in front of your face and unlock your phone .. police will love this!

Popo could physical force finger usage with touchID. No change

The Fanboyism here is garishly disturbing. The FACE ID failed in the demo and yet everyone is applauding it.

This will not be easy to use in the car while driving at all. Nobody is even mentioning that.
To hell with people who use phone while driving. Will be painful at first, but natural selection will phase the morons out.

I've said this many times. The blind loyalists are their worst enemy. They cry for Apple to give them something new and amazing. Then go ahead and buy Apples recycled designs. Or pay for overpriced hardware like the iPhone X. There is ZERO reason for that phone to cost that much when you have a phone like the S8+, or the Note 8 that has so much more functionality. OLED screens are a STANDARD with Galaxy phones. Even the entry level Galaxy C and J lines. What an absolute joke. As well as the tech sites that are eating it all up because they're afraid to offend Apple and not get invited to the next event.

I agree but nothing you say will cross their minds. The brainwashing is real here.

Face ID seems slow and unreliable, on top of just what a pain in the ass it is to have to hold it up to your face like an idiot.

Major mistake for Apple not to have waited until under the glass touch ID was ready.

Key problem, you have to hold it up in front of your face and then swipe up. No one can say this is faster than a fingerprint reader. It's just not faster.

Or as Phil stated, if you don't want the phone to unlock, look away or close your eyes and it won't unlock.

But seriously, let's see how quick people figure out ways to unlock phones with facebook pictures just like they did with Samsung's phone.

Tim's "innovation" will be iPhone X will break the customer's psychological conditioning watermark of $1k. This is the biggest feature that Apple has been working on.

Does anyone with any industry knowledge know if there was an unavoidable reason that they had to raise the price of the X? Is there a specific component of the iPhone X that's really that much more expensive than the 8??? Because am I correct in thinking that competitors with edge-to-edge displays didn't have to raise their prices to achieve this feature?? Part of me honestly thinks that Tim ****ed up by not getting enough OLED production capacity, but he knew they had to bring out some sort of edge-to-edge product otherwise people would be mad.. so he had to either make a limited more expensive OLED iPhone and make the 8 cheaper or make the X more expensive.. and the he chose the latter to avoid cannibalising profits..

Was out sick and missed the presentation. Watched a recorded version... o_O
LTE watch - bet it requires an additional device plan to use...
iPhone X - was far less than I expected. Have to see in person. Notch is ... lame and allows Apple to claim a bigger screen size. FaceID has me concerned with forced unlock, unlock at night, and unlock while driving.
iPhone 8 - better than the 7+ or just minor improvements?

Will wait and see. Was not overwhelmed by any stretch.

I'm starting to wonder if Touch ID on the back would have been a better idea. Face ID is really cool but I'd like Touch ID on the back as well.

That IS the point. You shouldn't have to LOOK at your phone while driving. With any other iPhone, you can just touch it without looking to unlock it and get driving directions. This one, you have to drive off a cliff first before unlocking it!
Getting driving directions requires looking at your screen unless you are using voice control. The iPhone X lets you activate Siri by pressing the physical side button.

OH God! Get a grip! Samsung is charging 1k for their phone as well. 969 vs 999. I get being concerned about price but this is the market rate for these features.

I'm sorry, I just can't get over that notch. Not after seeing awesome concepts like this:
e068ff55354671.5980ffee97af2.jpg

It looks terrible, and they should be ashamed saying 'Steve would be proud'. Samsung nailed how it should be done with the S8 and I'm not happy saying that. By the way, swiping from the top to get at Control Center is incredibly unintuitive. 'Skating where the puck is gonna be' my hinderquarters.
So people want bezels now?

I like the notch. At least it looks original. And the screen is really great, I can see it even on the video. Sad that it will burn-in over time...

Blame Samsung for this , They are the ones who first priced their Note 8 a $1000 ...

Rightfully deserved price with the Note 8...that's for sure. Samsung packs more into its device including a bigger display, 6 gb ram and a S pen so I can see where there pricing structure goes to. I can't say the same for Apple.

I am concerned about Face ID mostly because Touch ID worked flawlessly. Why change it? Who asked for it? I can unlock my 6S WHILE lifting it up in order to use it. With the X, it's lift, then look, then swipe, then use. This is terrible.
Who asked for it? Everyone complaining about the iPhone’s bezels that’s who. The bezels were terrible now everyone is wanting them back.

You should compare the S8 with X since both are 5.8in and have about same specs.
S8: $500-600 X: $999-1199

You can't compare Note 8 which has higher specs incl. bigger 6.3in screen and pen.
With all the bundled assessories for Note 8, the effective price is quite a bit cheaper than X too.
