...with rear glass that feels [like money in the bank!]

Repair shops worldwide just started doing the happy dance! One more iteration of the hugely popular glass backed iPhones!!!

It's a good thing they keep getting thinner since the cases keep getting thicker to protect them...wait!!...maybe if they weren't so thin they wouldn't need so much protection. Hmmmm... And fewer repairs. And, maybe, I would think twice about AppleCare...

Nah! I love 'em thin and fragile like potato chips!

Apple are skinning us alive, even with VAT @20% thats £899

iPhone 6 was not parity with USA
£699 128GB UK
$849 128GB USA
on launch day Sept '14

It has always been the case. We always paid higher price. The phones, watches, laptops.... even the iTunes songs at the time were $0.99 in US and £0.99 here... The truth is we live in the UK and if we want it that's the price we will have to pay...tough call.

It's nice, but aside from the FaceID stuff (I think I'll still prefer TouchID) and the screen, there aren't any advantages that I see over the iPhone 8.

I'm so annoyed that they ditched the middle storage size. I'm effectively stuck with an iPhone 7+ on the iPhone upgrade plan without any option to upgrade that gives me at least the same amount of storage without costing more.

None of the new phones are worth paying more than I already do.

I'm sorry, I just can't get over that notch. Not after seeing awesome concepts like this:

It looks terrible, and they should be ashamed saying 'Steve would be proud'. Samsung nailed how it should be done with the S8 and I'm not happy saying that. By the way, swiping from the top to get at Control Center is incredibly unintuitive. 'Skating where the puck is gonna be' my hinderquarters.

If I recall correctly, this is actually how it looked during the demo when they had the Music app open. Makes me wonder if they couldn't decide which way to go themselves.

That said, the real sin is that the notch covers up video in landscape mode.
apparently it doesn't look at the post above yours .. i was thinking the same but thank god no notch while playing movies :)

The Fanboyism here is garishly disturbing. The FACE ID failed in the demo and yet everyone is applauding it.

This will not be easy to use in the car while driving at all. Nobody is even mentioning that.

Probably because you shouldn't be using the damn phone while driving to begin with! Pay attention to the road and vehicles ahead of you instead of the phone. If you need to use it that badly pull off the road or wait until you are at a stop light. Not that hard to do....

So you're judging an unreleased product how it won't be easy to use while driving?... which is clearly unsafe and in violation of every western countries laws for good reason. Good one.

Unlike The Verge's experience, TechRadar described a questionable demo experience with Face ID, where the demo worker had to keep turning the display off and on to active the facial recognition system.

Sounds more like a software glitch than a problem with the hardware. iOS just reached GM today and may still contain a few glitches that'll need to be polished out. After all, nobody has had an iPhone X to beta test face ID yet.

The great news is that we have an open market where you can buy whatever device you prefer. If you prefer the S8 and its notchless screen, buy one and be happy.

For the next year's iPhone, Apple should leak some fake specs so we can actually be surprised at the event. Indeed besides the gorgeous design, what's really new? All of the three iPhones were a slight improvement.

Still not tempted by iPhone "Notch" @ parity with USA $999 = UK £999 with exchange rate currently at £1.00 = $1.33
price should be £752.44p NOT £999.00

A grand for a phone, you've gotta be kidding.

You’re forgetting VAT will make up a majority of this difference. Not all of it, but we’ve always paid slightly over rather than slightly under, not that I enjoy this but it’s not like it’s any different from usual - the US pricing always excludes sales tax.

The last paragraph baffles me! "...starting at $999 for the 64GB version and rising to $1,149 for the 256GB version." Why on earth introduce the 256GB version if it is $150 more expensive?! I don't need 256 GB of storage, but I do need 128 GB. Apple's logic is absolutely convoluted here! Keep the 128GB if you can charge only $100 more for it. Jeez!

It's so manipulative. They know 64GB is too small for anyone who really uses the phone extensively. 128 would sell like hot cakes for 100 more.... So cut that out and make it 256 for 150... That an extra $50 we're all gonna pay and they know it and did it intentionally.

Let alone releasing it 2 months later gets a2 extra monthly payments from us Upgrade Plan folks...
