Face ID seems slow and unreliable, on top of just what a pain in the ass it is to have to hold it up to your face like an idiot.

Major mistake for Apple not to have waited until under the glass touch ID was ready.

Sorry Apple , For $1000 that phone back should never be Glass . it should be Ceramic.

more over , at that price 64GB is way too low. at least 128GB if not 256GB .

and I want the white front Iphone X please ...

Why can I not say it's bad design. I love the phone with every other aspect. But there's a few points to consider here:

1. This is it the anniversary phone the 10? Somehow other manufactures were able to get rid of notches but Apple couldnt?
2. The phone starts at a 1000 dollars, is it weird to expect the best?
3. This isn't a "minor flaw" to brush off, it has implications with apps and their interactions. As mentioned previously. Buttons and swipe onto screen functionality will have to be modified to take the notch into account.

Maybe I missed it, but is there a phone out there with all screen and zero bezel?

Beautiful phone I must say. I have the 7 and contemplating whether to shell out $1500 (including AppleCare+, price in my country) for the X. That is a lot of money - delving into mid-to-high-end laptop prices for a 5.8" smartphone.

When the movie is resized to only use 90% of the screen, of course you're not gonna see the notch.

This was in response to whether movies are full screen sized, or resized to avoid the notch. Just showing that the latter is at least an option and possibly how the movie app is designed. This is how it would have looked if the notch was "erased" software-wise anyway. To those who would have preferred the area around the notch permanently blacked out on the OLED screen, this would have been the result anyway. At least with the notch approach the "ears" area can be used for some apps.

Huh? Apple actually intentionally put in the notch. I'm sure it was a lot more work to make that happen rather than have wasted space to the left and right of the sensors.

Apple are skinning us alive, even with VAT @20% thats £899

iPhone 6 was not parity with USA
£699 128GB UK
$849 128GB USA
on launch day Sept '14

Today's exchange rate is 1GBP=1.33USD. But rates fluctuate, so Apple pick a rate that (usually) ensures US prices are lower than overseas and keep that rate for a few months. The pound has been as low as 1.2USD in the last 12 months (thanks to Brexit) so when you factor in 20% VAT you get 999USD = 999GBP.

Still not tempted by iPhone "Notch" @ parity with USA $999 = UK £999 with exchange rate currently at £1.00 = $1.33
price should be £752.44p NOT £999.00

A grand for a phone, you've gotta be kidding.

The same mistake again and again ... Add VAT taxes you will get your price.

US prices dont include VAT taxes unlike Europe.

so your phone with VAT taxes should be 1000+200=$1200 around 910 pounds.

Looked like tried to read and then went to passcode. Touch ID immediately goes to passcode.

No it doesn't. Touch ID goes to passcode after four misses. I should know, since I'm one of the minority of users for whom Touch ID only works part of the time.

I don't think you should have to like the design, everyone is different. What I take issue with is that belief that because we've seen a few full screen pictures, that means there is no other option. We don't know exactly what the UI will look like yet, and I think a hard coded status bar would have gone over with just as much grief as this current state is.

I've been looking forward to this phone for a long time but I'm just not feeling it.. still have a 6(6s/7 basically the same felt no need to upgrade) and I plan to upgrade within next few months but I don't know. It doesn't feel v exciting tbh.

Maybe it's the leaks, the notch, the price, the lack of Touch ID (having being mugged before I defo won't be using face ID), etc... no doubt I'll probs get one but I don't feel rushed or that, maybe I'll just wait for it to get cheaper early next year.

Well no, US pricing excludes sales tax but even factoring that in the cost of the 64GB iPhone X should be around £900.

Apple has been hiding behind the fluctuation of the pound to price gouge for a while now. Everything they've put out in the last 18 months has been the same.

Didn't say zero bezel, I said got rid of notches. The aforementioned imagery demonstrates this perfectly:

The xiaomi mi mix 2, launched yesterday, is about as close as we get at present.
The CEO said they are working on 100% screen for future models.
100% will never happen , you still need the front camera.

Well for me the notch breaks the flow of the design, I'm a little uneasy with the reliability of FaceID and the price is slowly breaking me. Other than that, it's great. But in honesty, I think the design/tech has potential, especially in future versions. I might be tempted enough even for the X.

The US prices don't include sales tax whereas in the UK, VAT is already included. The price difference isn't as bad as it first appears once you factor in their sales tax.

Yes £899 absolute tops not £999

Some of the write-ups for the X are hilarious. It's a beautiful OLED display one states, easily as good as the Samsung. Err! well yes, that's probably because it is a Samsung display. ;)

As for the 8 and 8 plus. If people were being honest they would say they should have just been called the 7S and the 7S plus.
