No 512gb version?! WTF! Why! I am constantly out of space! Maybe Lightroom can fix there app so it does not have to store all your photos on your phone!

The xiaomi mi mix 2, launched yesterday, is about as close as we get at present.
The CEO said they are working on 100% screen for future models.

It has more bezel than the iPhone X and it's an LCD. Other than ceramic, everything about the phone is inferior to the iPhone X.

I've been looking forward to this phone for a long time but I'm just not feeling it.. still have a 6(6s/7 basically the same felt no need to upgrade) and I plan to upgrade within next few months but I don't know. It doesn't feel v exciting tbh.

Maybe it's the leaks, the notch, the price, the lack of Touch ID (having being mugged before I defo won't be using face ID), etc... no doubt I'll probs get one but I don't feel rushed or that, maybe I'll just wait for it to get cheaper early next year.

the Water Proofing on the 7 is alone a huge upgrade over the iphone 6s ... and the stereo speakers as well.

as for the 8 and X , the Fast charging in them is a huge deal as well. 50% charging in 30 minutes or 10 minutes charging will give you at least 2 hours of usage. this was missing from iphones and at last we have it. and is a deal breaker. When ou forget to charge your phone and in a hurry , charge it 10 minutes and you are okay.

Wireless charging is not that important IMO.

The US prices don't include sales tax whereas in the UK, VAT is already included. The price difference isn't as bad as it first appears once you factor in their sales tax.

I never understand why people compare prices from other countries to the US.

here is a movie being watched.. no notch. This is from TomsGuide.comView attachment 717131

Oh thank goodness for that, I was just thinking that it might be like right now you can double tap a movie to zoom and get rid of the borders, I really hope this is true and can be the default look to videos, photos and games.

Again, everyone wanted it to look like this:

Instead we get a hindrance on screen ****ing come on.. this is your anniversary phone. It would've been flawless that way.

This is just a software design issue. Nothing to do with the hardware.
Soon enough it will become obvious to all that wrapping a video or a photo around the sensors is just plain annoying.

What the "The Verge" guy brought up is also very disturbing about face id, that someone can just point the phone at you and it's already unlocked :D

All the encryption stuff, all the security stuff and then this. What a mess. All of a sudden that awkward placement of the fingerprint scanner on the S8 doesnt seem so stupid...

I cried a little when FaceId failed during the demo.

QUESTION:
How to make screenshot without home button?
Did you also notice how silly he looked when he had to stare at it for a few seconds to unlock? I can’t imagine people’s reaction to seeing you have to hold it up and do that.

How did it fail? Look closer and you'll see it was simply in "enter passcode to unlock face id " mode. Touch ID would've performed the exact same way. That's how it's designed.
Someone just neglected to ensure the passcode was entered. Presenter "fail", but not device fail.

Nope, device fail because you'd have to LOOK at the device to unlock it, taking your eyes off the road in a car, unlike any other iPhone which you could just blindly touch without taking your eyes off the road. I do this all the time.

Prediction: This device will be a train wreck in daily driving. Sure, you can say people aren't supposed to do this or that, but we all know what people do with their phones and getting driving instructions is one of them. This phone is a disaster at that.

For $1000 I think not (Jerry Seinfeld voice)..... lol

Oh, as long as technology reviewers who get everything for free anyway say that it is totally worth it....Nice!

The missing "reachability" feature is a massive con for this device IMO.

No worries. Nobody cares. Outside of a few people on tech forums who live for what they think are gotcha moments (instead of sussing out what happened).

Life goes on...

I'm not entirely sure what i reckon..

For me, i'd really like a bigger screen than the 4,7" on my 7. Secondly, i'm far from happy with the quality on my jet black edition. The only phone that delivers that is the iphone x.

The pricing, and what you get, feels slightly absurd though. 64GB storage space for a phone that starts at $999, with that you get the standard earpods..

This is a device I'm going to need to see in person and play with. If FaceID is fast enough, I'm down with it. I cook a lot and trying to unlock to look at part of a recipe with my grubby hands is a constant fail. I also won't have to periodically clean the button when it doesn't work. Also, TouchID = fail with damp fingers. Don't get me wrong, I like it (and on the 6S and greater the speed is crazy fast) but I think the new solution is just better, presuming it performs well in real life.

I think the griping about the notch is way overstated. Watching the demo with downslides on each side for different functionality was a really nice touch. I'll take the slide up over the home button. I'm glad the space is being used. I do think having a constant black background in that area, especially with OLED's blacks, makes more sense though. It seems like they're trying too hard to point out the new hawtness.

Maybe in the next release Johnny Ive can talk about the more "natural" and "muted" look of the bar in iOS 12 when they change the bar to black. With that said, it seems like the sort of thing that sticks out because it's new and different that will kinda vanish after about 10 minutes of actual use. Again, I need to see one of these first.

Even if you tack on 20% to the US prices it's still much cheaper than UK pricing.

$999 x 1.2 = $1,198.8 = £902

you just need to wish for it. siri will read your mind and take screenshot...

anyways. it looks like people are impressed with OLED screens..

How is this any more of a "security nightmare" than someone snatching your current iPhone out of your hands after you've unlocked it? They still can't disable the security settings without your password, and the phone will lock itself at some point and then they're back to square one. I don't see how this is an issue.

What are you talking about ? Reading messages, viewing photos, reading emails don't need a passcode after the phone has been unlocked!!! It's a security and privacy issue. Touch ID is a voluntary action by moving one's hand and placing a finger on the sensor (which you can refuse to do so) it's different than having someone pointing your phone at your face and unlock it.

I think that Sony Patented the fingerprint sensors on the Edge of the phone , if you look carefully no other company ever put the the scanner on the edge like Sony did with their phones.

Not only this , Sony does not include the side finger print scanner in USA ... I guess some one in USA Patented it as well but not world wide.

I think thats why apple copuld not put the fingerprint scanner on the side of the phone.

I don't think you should have to like the design, everyone is different. What I take issue with is that belief that because we've seen a few full screen pictures, that means there is no other option. We don't know exactly what the UI will look like yet, and I think a hard coded status bar would have gone over with just as much grief as this current state is.

I think you're confusing a matter of taste, with bad design. Everyone is different. does not apply when the alternative was full screen usage. There wouldn't be a situation possible where your content is at risk of being blocked. No one would EVER choose to have part of their content blocked. So these "other options" wouldn't be needed.

The status bar couldn't have gotten as much grief because it's NOT blocking anything! It could've been seen as bad design sure, but it would not effect the phones functionality IN ANY way. So I do not agree that it would've gotten just as much grief.
