So let's see.

I secure my phone by limiting what can be done while locked (including Siri) because there's an ongoing series of information leaks.

I have to unlock my phone while driving to change directions or use siri to reply to a text message.

I hold my phone up to my face and look at it, then also swipe up from the bottom of the screen. While wearing gloves. in the winter.

I either get in an accident or get a ticket because it's no longer hands free.

Explain to me just why a home button is so bad?

I can see a lot of car accidents thanks to FaceID...

Na , I think people will buy the 8 and 8 plus and ignore the X altogether. it is just not worth the price and we all love the home button .. Apple should have added a software home button option to the X that can be turned on/off from setting.

Good that it's going to take a month and a half for the Iphone X to come out, so I can buy my watch 3 this month!
With that I don't have to worry about having my iPhone in my hands to talk on the phone while driving cause its on my wrist! Can't wait for the X!
Going to be an expensive fall!

So you're judging an unreleased product how it won't be easy to use while driving?... which is clearly unsafe and in violation of every western countries laws for good reason. Good one.

I'm not judging in real use. I'm judging in common sense. The phone requires you to look at it to unlock.

No other iPhone requires that. Common sense tells me that will be difficult to do while driving. You don't have to look at any other iPhone to unlock it and get Siri driving instructions. On this one you will have to.

That in and of itself is a serious limitation and/or danger of the device considering how people currently use their iPhones.

If you think that people should change rather than the device, well than only fanboyism can explain that, not common sense. :D

Well part of the US didn't secede

It's also warranty requirements in the EU and exchange rate volatility

Illegal to do while driving in most states actually.

A new IBM typewriter cost about $400 in 1950. That would be nearly $4,000 in today's money.

But my Royal DeLuxe manual typewriter still works. And will be the same mechanical device long after I am dead.

This device will have a life cycle of, what, two years before it is obsolete?

what about in the dark I use mine in the dark all the time will it unlock then? the goods part is when I cut my finger I can still unlock the phone with a bandaid on :D

What are you talking about ? Reading messages, viewing photos, reading emails don't need a passcode after the phone has been unlocked!!! It's a security and privacy issue. Touch ID is a voluntary action by moving one's hand and placing a finger on the sensor (which you can refuse to do so) it's different than having someone pointing your phone at your face and unlock it.

Come on man, it's not going to be that easy. First off you have to steadily look at the phone. Eyes can't be closed and your focus needs to be on the phone. Other than that, the thief would have to properly check if the phone is unlocked. If it failed, than the person who owns the phone can easily prevent a second try. This in comparison to fingerprints isn't that bad. The Verge likes stirring up drama/controversy over new tech for hits.

Even if you tack on 20% to the US prices it's still much cheaper than UK pricing.

$999 x 1.2 = $1,198.8 = £902
You're right, but I was trying to say it's not appropriate to say their phone costs $999. Their tax isn't that high either :p

But yeh I get what you mean, the US prices are still a lot cheaper than the UK's prices even after tax.

Again, everyone wanted it to look like this:

Instead we get a hindrance on screen ****ing come on.. this is your anniversary phone. It would've been flawless that way.

Exactly what I was thinking of when I made my post in a different thread... shame.

Didn't say zero bezel, I said got rid of notches. The aforementioned imagery demonstrates this perfectly:

Ahh, so they got rid of the notch by hiding it in a bezel.

That’s obviously easy for them to do. But I think they wanted the look of the notch to give the iPhone a unique look in a sea of bezel-less phones. You can tell by the glyph that was floating around during the leaks/rumours.

I wonder if the 8 and X will work with the existing wireless charger around ? I dont want to wait for next year. I am planning to get the iphone 8.

The xiaomi mi mix 2, launched yesterday, is about as close as we get at present.
The CEO said they are working on 100% screen for future models.

Still, they have a bezel along the bottom with the camera in it right?

I think you're confusing a matter of taste, with bad design. Everyone is different. does not apply when the alternative was full screen usage. There wouldn't be a situation possible where your content is at risk of being blocked. No one would EVER choose to have part of their content blocked. So these "other options" wouldn't be needed.

The status bar couldn't have gotten as much grief because it's NOT blocking anything! It could've been seen as bad design sure, but it would not effect the phones functionality IN ANY way. So I do not agree that it would've gotten just as much grief.
You're confusing your opinion on how you think the status bar will work with facts.

IMHO the ideal price point for X would be:

• $999 256GB
• $1149 512GB

Forget the 64GB altogether.

Interesting to see Apple now only offer the 7 and 7 Plus maxed out at 128GB - no more 256.
Maybe they need those 256 yields for the 8/X?
