Specs- Note 8 beats iPhone that we can agree on, but then Samsung adds their UI to the phone over android and it makes the note 8 a bit slower and imo a pain in the butt to deal with.

I suggest you watch the smackdown video Everything Apple Pro did between the iphone X and the Note 8. The Note 8 beat the X in pretty much everything speed related except editing 4k videos. This video was uploaded 2 days ago. The X being faster than the Note is a myth.

Lol... While the Note 8 is a fantastic phone, I just got my iphone X to replace a iphone 6. It's pretty awesome and face ID is actually a huge improvement over touch id --- i love the "secret" notifications that only open up for you....

And the lack of a home button is actually unnerving at first, then after doing the swipe up from the bottom, you start to realize how much BETTER it is than clicking on a home button 🙂

The only thing I don't like is that control center is a bit harder to get to now and can only be activated from swiping from the top right of the screen -- that's a bit far away.

Geez, if secret notifications get's you excited, I'd hate to see you with the secret folder the Note 8 has. The secret folder is like a vault. You just don't store media files and notes in there, you can put apps in the folder too. So you can have two versions of the one app, one inside the folder, one outside the folder. For instance, you have a web browser in the folder, everything you search for with the in folder browser does not appear on the out folder browser. It's like having a UI within a UI. It is phenomenal. The Note 8 is brilliant.

You’re kind of missing the point. MOST people don’t not want to do everything on one device. The screen for one is not big enough to do real productive things on it. People do not want to be doing real productive tasks on a 6.4 inch device. People want far larger screens than that to do most tasks.

People don’t buy air pods because they are being forced to. People buy them because they are a great product that do exactly what people want and that’s not needing to use wired headphones.

People don’t leave the ecosystem because the other products apple provide are great products. Which is something Samsung can not provide to go with the note 8. The phone is great sure but are other products they do at the same level of what apple provides? No

Not sure how you can say the note 8 is more superior to the iphone x. It’s a a different device and a different OS. How can you say it’s more superior when it runs an OS that to me isn’t that great. There’s a reason they are struggling to sell a million of these phones as they aren’t to everybody’s tastes. This isn’t comparing sports teams here. There’s no way to say whats for sure is better than the other. It depends on the type of device you want and what software you want to use.

We are just going to have to agree to disagree.

I'm saying the Note 8 is superior, you're saying they are different.

Of course they are different, rival consumer products have to provide some point of difference otherwise there would be no competition, no consumer choice and everything would be the same. But they are both in the same market, the smartphone market. So therefore I feel like I can compare. I'm not exactly comparing apples with shoelaces here, it's 2 smartphones, but one can substitue as a mini computer.

And I'm not the only one who thinks you can compare. You just have to google iphone x versus note 8 to see that hundreds, and in time, thousands, will also compare them. And whatismore, each of the thousands who do compare, will have thousands, if not millions, watch or read the comparisons. So the interest in comparing is definately there.

Notwithstanding, there are some who think a hybrid of you and I. I have heard plenty of youtubers say the Note 8 is in a league of its own, and if anything, comparing the iphone x to the galaxy 8 would be a fairer fight because comparing the note 8 to an iphone would be akin to comparing a house to a caravan without wheels. That's a backhandec way of saying that the Note 8 is so far ahead of the iphone it's not even a comoarison. But you're not saying that, so I will continue.

If you simply put the two devices side by side without any other factors, just the devices, how can any objective person say that the note 8 is not superior? The note does so much more. Where the iphone stops the note just keeps going. Pull out the s-pen and a myriad of other features open up. The customisation and multitasking adds even more to the note. It comes with its own filing system too. Sure you're better off using a pc for spreadsheets, but if you were on the go and you needed to create a spreadsheet quick smart, the Note 8 will do the job just fine. If you need to sign a document, you could use the Note 8 to scan it, sign the PDF with the pen and email it off complete with your signature, all done with the note. And so much much more. As for speed and premium feel, the difference is now negligible and will only continue to be more negligible as the years go by, until the point they are virtually in equilibrium, if they are not already.

Things like price, ecosystem, how many units are sold, after sale service, they are all on the periphery of what I'm about in this topic. I tell you what Apple does do better, and that's marketing. That is a key component in why iphones sell. But does that make the iphone superior? No. Ford sells more cars per year than Rolls Royce. Does that make Fords superior to Rolls Royces? Things like how many units sold and ecosystem do not fuss me. I'm strictly about what is the superior device.

But everyone is different. I'm not heavily invested in the Apple ecosystem so I may not see it from your perspective. You may be heavily invested in the ecosystem so you may consider that important.

But purely device versus device, the Note 8 is superior to all others.

As I said it depends what your needs are with your devices. If you like have multiple devices apple is a great option and the best Imo but for those who don't care about syncing with other devices it may not matter.

People buy what suits their needs. This isn't comparing sports teams like I said. There's no better or worse only different.

5. Samsung screen has a higher resolution than the iPhone X's screen
In my opinion higher resolution has become totally irrelevant. The iPhone X is already sharper than your eyes can see, so who cares?
8. You can customize the Note 8. You can't with the iPhone X.
That's a pretty vague statement. You can customize iPhones.
11. Note 8 has a fingerprint scanner, an iris scanner, and a facial recognition system. The iPhone X only has face ID.
Factually speaking, Face ID is far more advanced.
12. The Note 8 has 6GB of RAM.
The iPhone has better benchmark scores. RAM is irrelevant.

Other than that, I hope you're happy with you purchase. Just wanted to quibble with those particular points.

lol... yea sure.

Meanwhile a whole bunch of Android fans will disagree--and with good reason. The only way to go, they say, is pure Android, and the Note 8 certainly ain't it. After three AT&T Notes I agree. If you want Android, get a pure Android device. If you want Android apps, get a pure Android phone. If you want Samsung apps, Samsung skin, AT&T/Verizon/Sprint apps, and Android apps, get a Samsung phone. As for me, I am done with that crap for now. And I know how to hide the crap, use a different launcher, etc.--but the crapware is still there.

My current phone is an LG V20, which for the most part has served me well, and in some ways I will miss it.

And I loved my Notes when I first got them. But over time they all slowed down, updates were slow to arrive, and battery life plummeted. When it was time to sell them.... whoa big time price drop. I got more for my iPhone 6S+, nearly two years after I bought it, than I did for my Note 4 only a year after purchase--and the price was the same for each. And After each Note I was generally glad to move on, aside from the exploding 7, probably since there wasn't enough time for Samsung creep to set in before it was recalled.

So, no, it is not a fact that the Note 8 is superior to all others. Not to me it is not. It's close, and indeed if not for the iPhone X I would be getting a Note 8, considering the iPhone 6SSS+ that is selling as the iPhone 8+. But for me the X has reinvigorated the iPhone. Even then, if Face ID hadn't turned out to be so good I still would have gone with a Note 8.

If I HAD gone with a Note 8 I surely would not be here trying to justify it on an iphone forum. Maybe in the alternatives to iOS forum, but not the iPhone forum. And in that alt forum you would have no doubt seen me complaining about the awful placement of the fingerprint sensor---right next to the danged camera! My LG V20 has a rear fingerprint sensor but it is right in the middle and impossible to miss.

What the heck would I need a headphone jack for when I use wireless bluetooth Powerbeats? 😵 I didn’t even know people still used wired headphones in today’s day and age.

I don't have Bluetooth in my vehicle. I use an auxiliary plugin to listen to my phone for tunes. I NEED a headphone jack.

I went to the Apple store today to experience the iPhone X phenomenon. I must say the phone is too small. I was not impressed. I have no regrets moving to the Note 8 having been in the iPhone ecosystem since 2008. The Note 8 is a far superior phone in many respects. My decision was based on facts, not emotions.

Samsung phones are always great at first. Loved my S7 Edge for a while. Didn't start to piss me off until Google released multiple major Android updates and Samsung was taking half a year to get those updates to me. Also, the longer I used the phone, and the more apps I installed, the slower it got. Also missed iMessage and all of the integrations with my MacBook Pro that iOS offers. In the end, it's all down to personal preference anyways. No one can objectively argue that a Note 8 is better than an iPhone X, nor can they argue that an iPhone X is better than a Note 8. They are both great phones that excel at different things, and each person's preferences and priorities will dictate which they like better.

If size is all that matters to you, then enjoy your Note 8.
Some people just need to compensate for other factors in their life. I believe these are his "facts" even though he states his choice wasn't based on "emotions" 😉

To me the Note 8 and the Plus model iPhones are just way to cumbersome to lug around. If I want a larger screen, I'll grab a tablet. If I want to watch a movie, I'll use my 75" 4KTV. Needs to be a phone first & needs to be convenient to lug around on a mobile basis. Personally I was happy to get rid of my iPhone 7+ I tried it for a year and ugh, almost bought an iPhone 8 to get rid of the thing because Nov 3rd seemed to far away. Glad I waited, the iPhone X is just about the perfect size & weight for a phone to me. 😀

/s Opinions stated within are based on my "facts" not the internets emotions? lol 😵

Lame. The fact that you can't dispute the fact that the Note 8 screen is larger is evidently clear in your desperation to resort to personal attacks. Stated otherwise, the fact that you have a preference for small screens doesn't refute the fact that the Note 8 screen is larger. That was my point. 😉

When did I ever say the Note 8 screen wasn't larger? Besides what I stated is a common phrase, if you take it as a personal attack then that's on you. Clearly you did not read my post as it was full of sarcasm and crass throughout even noted on the last line of my post. Aside from all of that, I didn't even quote you.

I hope you realized that you have settled.

The X beats the Note8.

Screen is bigger on the note.. and that’s about it.

Battery life on the X is better

Camera on the X is better

The X is FASTER ( A11 Bionic is fastest on the planet )

And much more.

But hey man. Enjoy your device.

I posted this elsewhere, but here are the facts. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

3. It has an micro SD card, the iPhone X doesn't. - iCloud.

4. It has headphone jack, the iPhone X doesn't. - For now

12. The Note 8 has 6GB of RAM. - You could pack 16GB of RAM into a phone. If the OS isn't optimized for it, it won't make a difference.

13. Google Voice is well integrated into Note 8. I could, for example, unlock the phone with my voice. Google voice, in my opinion, is far more advanced than Apple's Siri. Bixby is far behind Google voice and Siri, I admit that. - Not real sure about this, seeing how Google Voice and Siri/Bixby are 2 totally different applications. One is a PHONE and the others are AI. 😵

Yes I cherry picked from your list.

Have the S7 Edge. Plug in my aux for tunes and my USB to charge at the same time in my vehicle. Works well and don't need an adaptor that wouldn't charge my phone at the same time.
My iPhones charge and play at the same time with lightning connector, no problem. Bluetooth works too, but doesn't sound as good as direct link.

That's like saying the Note 8 could be fitted with 100 GB of RAM, but it's not optimized for it. 😉

The bottom line is, get what suits you. I've used iPhone since 2008, but in my opinion, iPhone X is underwhelming.
