Even with a new three lens camera and the upgrades of a new iPhone, I'll keep my X for another few cycles. I have a 7 Plus in service as well, no need to upgrade that either.
Barring any failures or such, no. I'll keep what I have for the time being.

Hi,

I currently have an iPhone X with AppleCare and 256gb. I skipped the XS and was hoping for a re-design with the iPhone XI or 11. However from looking at the leaks the main re-design is the giant camera module on the back. I personally was hoping for a smaller notch and slightly slimmer bezels.

So with all that being said, I was just wondering if there are other X owners out there that are planning on upgrading or not upgrading. I'm on the fence, so just curious...
I'm handing over my 256GB X to my mom to replace the 7 Plus I had given her long ago. When the X was first announced all I wanted was a full screen big phone. Well they gave us a full screen, but not a big phone. Then the XS Max was released and it took a lot for me to not upgrade but I couldn't justify all the money I was going to spend to upgrade just because it was bigger. Now with the 11 nearing release, I cannot wait to upgrade.

Very happy with my XS Max 256GB, I will wait for the 5G iPhone XII Max.....or whatever they end up calling it, to upgrade.
I’m the same, XS Max 256GB will
last me a few more years. Not interested in 5G, but would like to go back to 16:9 screen ratio (not going to happen I know) and a metal not glass back both of which would make the phone lighter. I don’t use a wireless charger, even though I have one, so wouldn’t miss it at all.

My iphone loan is close to being paid off. I owe now $249.71. I've never enjoyed a phone like I enjoy my ipx. I also never upgraded because I didn't want to start over and give this phone up. My phone is in pristine condition and works like it did the day I got it, which was at launch. I think I will go the route of so many who still chug along with their iphone 6s.

Nope. I actually just bought my X 3 months ago and can't think of a reason I would need to upgrade so soon as the 2019 phones probably aren't bringing anything to the table that I need. I may upgrade in 2020 as that rumor of the slightly smaller X type phone (5.4-5.5 inch screen I believe?) piques my interest. I don't care for big phones and the current X/XS already pushes the limit of my comfort level and the same rumor says those might get slightly bigger in 2020.

This race with new phones every year is a total nonsense for a normal user. X is a phone which is up to date for next 3 years at least....so why upgrade....no reason what so ever. I bought mine a year ago....today, I see no difference in performance...an excellent peace of hardware.

I’ve returned back to my X from all kinds of phones. Replaced the battery under apple care this week. If I don’t upgrade it will be good for a long time!

Possibly a dumb question, but do we know why they abandoned the 16:9 ratio? And why don’t you think they’ll go back?

I'm exactly the same. Got the X back in March and it's everything I want from a phone. Will stick to it until we get 5G phones or a smaller form factor.

Managed to go 4.5 years with my old iPhone 6, so the X feels fantastic. :)

Keeping my Qualcomm iPhone X as long as it fits my needs. Battery life and performance. I don’t really care about 5G as LTE is beyond what I need.

I don’t like Intel modems and who know what modems will be in the 2019 iPhone lineup... and how they perform.

The Qualcomm chips have never let me down in low signal areas.

Keeping my X. Will swap the batter and buy another year or two.

Spending $800+ (counting trade in) on a new phone is crazy to me. Maybe if there are carrier deals and I can get a few hundred for this I would consider it, but I am pretty happy with what I have.

I'm 50/50 on upgrading, I don't mind sticking with the X but if it’s something that impresses me I don't mind upgrading either.

Hmm I’ll probably wait a few months after the new release and see how things are with the latest. If it catches my eye, I’ll go for it. Otherwise, I’m perfectly content with the X.

Not sure which carrier you use, but ‘carrier deals’ seem to be offered year-round. I’ve never come across my carrier where they don’t have an offer for some type of promotion or trade-in incentive with the phone. Usually every two months they run a new promotion for a smart phone.

I upgraded this year due to a sweet trade-in offer as well as a plan offer that was awesome from my carrier, due to the savings and the trade-in value the phone was basically free. Unless that happens again this year I think I'm going to try and use this phone for two years - I'm happy with the screen size and functionality and can't see what major improvements they might bring to tempt me to upgrade.

I skipped iPhones 2019 because of no major design, no 5G, and no Special. I'm waiting for iPhone 2020. I might get Galaxy S10 Plus as my secondary phone, but I keep my iPhone XS Max as my Primary phone.

No smaller notch or lack of, no Qualcomm Modem, same screen & size, no 5G......I’m going to stick to my iPhone X.

My X will be paid up in February and my wife will be upgrading to the XR 11 from her iPhone 7 so it’s her year to upgrade. So it’s October 2021 For me. I consider it a great value from my current phone.

It’s not so bad spending $1000 when you can keep your phone for at least three years and then hand it down to one of your kids for another two.

I plan to upgrade. I am totally frustrated with my iPhone X Intel modem. I believe Intel is a good company, but when it comes to cellular modem chips, they just do not make the grade. I would buy a new XS or XR but none of them come with Qualcomm modems. The degradation of data speeds when the signal is low is horrible compared to the Qualcomm version. So while I would rather wait to buy a 5G iPhone at the end of 2020, I can not wait any longer with my iPhone X.

...**** me...

Just read that there will be no Qualcomm chips in 2019.

If you have an X you have a Qualcomm if you have an XS you have intel.

The settlement with QUALCOMM just happened with Apple so for the 2019 phone it’s too late and still be going with Intel for 11.

No plans to upgrade from my X anytime soon, I've not had it for long and it's pristine with 98% battery health. The only reason I would possibly upgrade is for 5G.
